Chapter 1522
Alexander's return was supposed to be good news, but Lily did not look relaxed and became gloomier
instead. That would only mean that something was up.
'He might've gotten infected with the disease. I've yet to see him and am unsure of his situation.' Lily
picked up the teacup and took a sip to calm herself.
"The disease?" Dominic's hand paused as he lifted the teapot. He knitted his brow. "He’s back? I mean,
he's home?"
"No." Lily shook her head and continued, "He also knows it's serious and naturally wouldn't return or
meet me for Galen's and my sake. He's not even in Kingsland. I suppose he's recuperating in a
relatively remote area."
"Oh." Letting out a sigh of relief, Dominic put down his teapot and sat before her. "What’s your plan?"

Dominic frowned. "Are you out of your mind?!"
"I’d like to know what the disease is all about," Lily said seriously.
"Every country is studying it. There's no need for you to meddle in this." Dominic reasoned objectively.
"There are many precedents of pandemics, so you should know how huge the impact could be.
"Even though the medical field is very advanced, no one knows how it began, and it’s spreading fast.
With you being pregnant, he’s right not to see you!"
"I know he's right, but at the same time, I feel there's nothing wrong with going to see him."
Without waiting for him to speak, she added, "I know I should take proper safety measures, and there
might be a risk. However, old man, you were a physician for many years. Haven't you faced any
dangers or risks before?"
"I..." Dominic was stumped.
She was right that he had been in various situations when he was adventuring, coming face-to-face
with unknown poisonous plants, insects, and complex and unpredictable people. However, he was all
alone and had nothing to lose.
"You're different because you’re not alone! You have Galen and are now pregnant with twins. You have
to think about them!" Dominic said in disapproval.
"It's because of them that I have to learn more about it." Lily touched her belly softly and continued,
'The pandemic is not slowing down and spreading. Although Kingsland is still free of it, there are
already cases in our country, and no one knows what kind of situation we'll find ourselves in.
"With so many experts researching it worldwide, they’re still unable to find a cure. If my children were to
live in such an environment, how could I do nothing? I know I might not have that prowess, and I
should just mind my own business if Alex didn't get infected.
"However, now that he is, I have to visit him. It's not just to care for or cure him, but I do so hoping my

Lily had thought it through. A philosopher once urged humans to better themselves morally when they
had not achieved their ambitions and to contribute to humankind when they had the means.
She was not that noble and had not thought about saving people, but under the current situation, she
could not shut her heart to it. It was not just for others but for herself, her family, and those around her.
Dominic quieted down, knowing full well that she was right.
Lately, the news brought over by his messenger pigeons was not rosy, and the disease could spread
into Kingsland from the surrounding areas. Living as a hermit in his estate, he did not know how much
longer he could live.
However, he knew the toddler standing before him still had a long life ahead. 'If we all think it has
nothing to do with us, how would the world end up in the future?1
