Chapter 1533
After a pause, Lily continued, "Someone is tapping my phone, but don't worry. I’ve changed to a new
card and increased the cyber protection around my phone. I bought a new phone as well. Nothing will
happen for now.
"I know you're worried about our children and me, but you must know that not seeing you doesn't make
these dangers disappear, and it's not because of you that all this is happening. You have to let me see
you!"
Lily did not know if what she said had convinced Alexander or if he was too lazy to argue.
After a pause, Alexander ultimately caved in. "Make sure you take precautions and bring some
bodyguards with you. Immediately leave if you're in any danger. Don't try to put up a strong front."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I will," she replied. Then, worried she might disturb her husband, she quietly hung up without saying
anything. Alexander forwarded his location to her shortly after.
Sure enough, Lily pinpointed the location at a small village where she had traced his signal before. She
could not go back to sleep and went to wash her face with cold water before changing her clothes.
When she saw it was bright outside, she did not bother bringing the driver or a bodyguard.
In her mind, their skills were not as good as hers. It would attract more attention if she brought too
many people with her. So, she drove the car that she rarely used and quietly cruised out of Kingsland
into the nearby village.
There was a faint sound of some movement in the basement. Austin thought he was hallucinating.
He had no idea how many days had passed and whether it was day or night. He felt drained, hungry,
and tired. If it were not for the bread and water Thompson had given him and the medicine he had
created, he could have died long ago.
He reluctantly moved and forced open his heavy eyelids. The sound outside was getting louder and
closer. It did not seem to be a hallucination since it sounded too real.
Austin struggled to prop himself up to get a better look. A glimmer of hope rose in his heart.
'Is someone coming to save me? Did the news finally get out?’
Soon, the basement door opened. Just as the light streamed in, the hope in his heart quickly vanished.
The man who came in was not his savior.
He looked familiar. He was the one who had a dispute with Rhea that night. He was Mike Corden. Mike
walked up to Austin and bent down to look. ’ Are you dead?"
Austin did not answer.
"If you are, I'll have you dragged out and buried!" Mike snapped coldly.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmInstantly, Austin spat on the ground.
That made Mike laugh. "It seems like you're not dead. Since you're still alive, get up and follow me!"
"Where are you going?" Austin looked at him curiously. However, each word from him sounded hoarse,
hurting his throat.
"Do you have the right to ask?" Mike straightened up and looked down at Austin with a mocking smile.
"Can you stand up?"
Austin did not answer. His mind was turning. If he stayed here, he would just be waiting for death. If he
followed this man, at least he could see the outside world one more time before he died.
With that in mind, he struggled to get up, but a sharp pain jolted through his body as soon as he
moved. He dropped to the ground again as soon as he stood up, grimacing in pain.
