Mike felt a sharp object pressing against his waist. Although he could not see it, he knew it was
unpleasant.
Mike hesitated momentarily and cleared his throat. Then he answered the call and put it on
speakerphone without a second thought, “Hello, what’s the matter? Is there any news from Lily? Did
she find the person? Did she locate the organization? Has she rescued my son?”
A series of questions followed, leaving no time for Alexander to catch his breath. There was a moment
of silence from the other end of the phone.
“Are you going to say anything?” Mike’s voice sounded irritable.
Rhea shot him a warning look, and her grip on him tightened slightly. Mike felt the sharp object,
seemingly piercing through his clothes. He instinctively tried to move away, but she moved faster and

Finally, Alexander spoke, “Where were you just now?”
That one question instantly made the atmosphere in the car extremely tense.
Mike looked at Rhea. He noticed her scrutinizing gaze on him while he looked innocent. Mike was
trying to convey with his eyes that he had been with her this whole time and had no chance to update
Alexander about anything.
Rhea squinted, signaling Mike to answer.
After some thought, Mike said, “I was out looking for clues. What’s the matter?”
“Did you find anything?” Alexander asked again.
“Of course not! If I had found something, would I still need to ask you? All your connections and
subordinates are just freeloading, aren’t they? They didn’t provide even a single piece of information!
“I thought you were formidable in Hyderland, but it doesn’t seem like it. The government is more
capable if you ask me. Can’t any of your government friends do anything?” Mike mocked.
Alexander coldly replied, “I don’t need you to teach me how to do things!
“Do you think I want to teach you anything? If it weren’t for my connections being mostly overseas, do
you think I would need to rely on you?!”
Mike snorted and continued, “Alexander, you should know our relationship is merely for business. If you
can’t find the organization’s whereabouts, Lily’s corpse won’t be the only one you’ll be collecting!”
After finishing his words, he pressed the end call button. Mike looked at Rhea and asked, “Are you
happy now?”
Rhea said nothing and looked at him profoundly. After a while, she smiled coldly and said, “You’re
sending him a message.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMike appeared innocent. “What message? I didn’t say anything! You heard every word I said; how
could I tell him anything?!”
“You were hinting at him to find his government friends and Cameron Rollins!” Rhea said coldly, each
word enunciated clearly.
Mike was stunned and feigned ignorance. He patted himself and said, “I didn’t think that far! I just
wanted him to use his connections to find the organization’s whereabouts quicker. Don’t you want to
know as well? How did that turn into me sending him a coded message? I’ve never felt…so wronged!”
He appeared frustrated and shocked, as if he had suffered a great injustice.
“Whatever coded message you want to think I’ve said, that’s up to you!” Mike sighed.
“Forget it. No one can find my son anyway. I have nothing left to live for. Since you don’t trust me that
much, just kill me!”
After saying this, he leaned back to show he was at her mercy.
