Chapter 198
Chuckling coldly, Bailey flipped over and got out of bed.
Artemis hastily shot his hand out and grabbed her arm. Again, he asked, “You stabbed me?”
Shooting him a glare, Bailey countered through gritted teeth, “Was I to stand idly by as you bedded this
woman instead of stabbing you? You probably didn't see your wild behavior earlier, Mr. Luther. You
were no different from a beast.”
In response, Artemis chuckled lowly, looking delighted. “Great job! If I dare flirt with other women in the
future, just stab me in such a manner.”
Bailey was wholly dumbstruck.
Following her lead, Artemis flipped over and stood up. His movement tugged at the wound on his thigh,
making him grimace in pain.
“F*ck! Could you stab me someplace else next time? This spot is too dangerous. How am I to bed you
if you accidentally injure my manhood?”
Bailey was speechless.
Inhaling deeply, she suppressed the urge to do exactly that and snapped, “If you continue yakking, I'll
finish you off right this instant!”
This time, Artemis went silent.
Touching his nose, he flashed her a sheepish smile.
How savage, taciturn and ruthless! I like it!
Not in the mood to entertain him, Bailey took a pill out of her pouch and stuffed it into his mouth. “It's
the antidote to the aphrodisiac. Swallow it.”
A flash of something flittered across Artemis' eyes, and he drawled smilingly, “Instead of this antidote,
I'd rather you help me with your body.”
Upon hearing that, Bailey gave him a swift kick.
At once, Artemis dodged. “Okay, okay, I'll stop teasing you. Let's get down to business.”
Bailey threw him a warning look.
Then, she lifted her hand and pointed at Rhonda. Frowning, she stated, “She conspired with Cadence
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtto set you up. As for her motive, I'm sure you're well aware of it without me having to spell it out for you.
How are you planning to deal with her?”
A glimmer of disgust flittered across Artemis' eyes. Pressing his lips into a thin line, he enunciated,
“Since she's so strapped for men, I'll find her a few and have them satisfy her.”
After saying that, he snagged his phone at the side and walked away to make a call.
Shortly after, he returned. He eyed Rhonda for a few seconds before inquiring with a frown, “She
doesn't look as though she's unconscious. What did you do to her?”
Shrugging, Bailey parted her ruby lips a fraction and murmured, “I hypnotized her.”
Artemis was taken aback.
She even knows hypnosis?
“What a feral approach!”
In return, Bailey was rendered speechless.
The two of them waited in the room for three to four minutes before two bodyguards in black rushed in
from outside.
“How may we be of use, Mr. Luther?”
Artemis pointed at Rhonda on the bed. He didn't say much, merely two words in total—”Do her.”
Huh?
The two bodyguards were visibly startled.
Has Mr. Luther lost his senses from playing the field? Isn't this Ms. Rhonda, the biological mother of the
heir of the Luther family? Wouldn't it be somewhat inappropriate for us to bed her?
“Mr. Luther, but she's—”
Artemis' sharp gaze shot right at them. “No buts! Did you not understand me? What's with all the
yakking?”
The two bodyguards immediately went silent.
Bailey glanced at the watch on her wrist before saying to Artemis, “If I guess correctly, Beatrice will be
bringing a few guests to Room 501 later in a staged accidental encounter with you and Rhonda. Then,
she'll use that excuse to pressure you into agreeing to marry Rhonda and accepting her into the Luther
family.”
As soon as Artemis heard that, his handsome face promptly darkened frightfully. Radiating a faint
murderous intent, he instructed the two bodyguards, “Make it quick.”
Bailey cast a look at Rhonda on the bed, her lips curving into a smirk.
Serves you right since you asked for it. Rhonda, this is the price you should pay after stooping to such
despicable means. I'm no saint, so I'm not going to pity you.
“Wait!”
Artemis' voice rang out behind her.
She instinctively glanced over her shoulder at him. Her brows furrowing, she questioned, “You're not
leaving? Are you planning to stay here and watch the live-action skin flick?”
Artemis shot her a glare. Gritting his teeth, he hissed, “I lost too much blood, so I can't feel my right leg
now. Come over here and lend me a hand.”
At that, Bailey was entirely dumbfounded.
Rolling her eyes, she made her way back and dragged him out.
“Figure out a way to stop Beatrice. Don't allow her to bring people over and witness this show. While I
hate them both to the core, I don't want to mess around with Max's reputation. If this matter gets out,
people will point fingers at him and say all kinds of nasty things. He's still young, so don't allow him any
contact with such vile things at this age.”
Artemis nodded. “Don't worry, for I'll make all the arrangements. Now, drive me back to the mansion
and treat the injury on my thigh.”
For a moment, Bailey was taken aback.
The injury on his thigh. Hmm, why does it sound so suggestive? Did I dig a hole for myself? Oh God,
why did I have to stab him in the thigh? That's... the thigh! How am I supposed to bandage it?
Artemis seemingly perceived her embarrassment, for his mood became all the better.
I'm glad she stabbed me!
Meanwhile, the banquet on the eighteenth floor was still ongoing. Glen was exhausted in the middle of
the banquet, so Yoel and Gwendolyn escorted him to the adjacent private room to rest.
After dismissing his few business acquaintances, Gerald followed suit.
When he walked in and saw that the members of the Chivers family were all there, he stated bluntly, “I
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmobject to Ed and Ms. Bailey's marriage, Glen.”
Four pairs of eyes swung in his direction in concert. Gwendolyn queried with a smile, “What's the
meaning of this, Gerald? Do you not wish the best for your nephew? Eddy isn't young anymore, so it's
time he gets married and has children.”
“But the woman he wants to marry is his cousin's woman. The woman even gave birth to two children
for his cousin,” Gerald asserted frankly.
Snorting, Glen lifted his cane and slammed it onto the ground hard a few times. In a sharp voice, he
thundered, “Your jerk of a son isn't willing to marry her. Why, is Eddy not allowed to do so just because
your son refused to do as he should?”
Gerald inclined his head a fraction. In a humble manner, he replied unhurriedly, “Bailey can marry
anyone, but not Edmund. Well, at least not now. The outside world has just learned that her two
children are part of the Luther family. And now, she's all eager to marry Simon's cousin. How would
everyone think? You're only inviting criticism against her, and it'll hurt her.”
After saying that, he swept a gaze over Edmund before continuing, “I know you plan to use this
banquet tonight to announce their marriage, but it's really a tad inappropriate. Someone just came to
me and told me that Bailey has already left the hotel. She probably hoped that you wouldn't be so
hasty, so she took the initiative to draw back.”
Glen's expression darkened. Just when he was on the brink of blowing a gasket, Edmund suddenly
interjected, “Uncle Gerald is right. It's indeed rather upstaging to announce my marriage with Bay in
front of such a crowd. The banquet tonight is for Caridee, so she's the star. I don't want our matter to
ruin things for her.”
Glen shot him a glare. He was just about to reprimand the man when something or other occurred to
him, and he called a halt to the conversation.
“Fine. I'm not going to be bothered about this anymore. Just do whatever you want. Send me home,
Yoel.”
Everyone said nothing further.
Rhonda slowly roused.
The room was silent, and she was lying on the bed alone.
Did my plan fail?
She instinctively wanted to sit up, but a wave of excruciating pain flooded her.
This isn't right... Could it be that Artemis bedded me?
