"Hey, Everest." | hear Rosie's voice and | cto a halt. "Yeah, we can still meet today. Three is good." Why does

she need to meet him? Something about this guy setsoff. | have a strong feeling that he doesn't see her as a

friend, and this is the last thing | want. It's already hard trying to win her heart, so | don't need competition. |

woke up about half an hour ago. Well, we both woke up at the stand | think this is the best sleep | have

ever had. | did fall asleep on my couch before, but | have never fallen asleep with my head on Rosie's lap with

her hand in my hair. | feel bad because the poor position, yet she didn't even complain. Why does she have to be

so good like that? Mum shouldn't have called her." She ended up missing her lectures today and when | asked

her about that once we woke up, she brushed it off and toldnot to worry about it. I don't want her to miss

any important lectures because of me.

| make my way to the kitchen and find her already making breakfast for the two of us. | already feel so much

better compared to how | was yesterday but knowing that she is going to spend stwith Everest today

doesn't makefeel good at all. If anything, I'm incredibly nervous. What if she falls for him? How am |

supposed to accept seeing her with somebody else?

"Are you feeling all right?" she asks with a beautiful smile on her face.

"All thanks to you." | kiss her cheek and the way she blushes doesn't escape my notice. "I'm really sorry that |

made you miss your lectures. | didn't mean to do that."

"It's okay. Sabrina and Everest will givetheir notes. | trust them," she assures me.

"l uh... | heard you talking on the phone. Are you meeting Everest today?" | try to sound casual, but | have a

strong feeling that | don't sound casual at all.

"Yeah, we've got a project we're working on together," she replies, taking a seat beside me.

Where are you guys meeting?" | wonder. Maybe | do sound casual.

She has a smile that depicts confusion.

"Just asking." I shrug, trying not to meet her gaze. How do | explain my nosiness to her? She's never going to

understand. "Maybe after he leaves we can go out and have dinner together." We eat together almost five days

per week now and | love this routine. | sincerely hope that she's not getting bored of it. "Okay, you can come

around five. We will be at the café around the corner," she tellsand | nod.

If I had the choice, | wouldn't even let her go alone, but | don't want to be overbearing. | don't want her to think

that I'm suffocating her.

"| gotta go now, but | will see you later." She hops off her seat and wraps her arms around me, givinga

chance to inhale her sweet scent. "I'm glad you're okay."

"All thanks to you, cupcake" She shakes her head but smiles. She has probably given up and now knows that I'm

not going to stop calling her cupcake.

"See you later." She kisses my cheek before making her way to the door. When she shut it behind her, | bring my

fingers to the spot she has just kissed and | smile like the idiot | am.

| decide to call my mum to assure her that I'm okay. At first, | didn't like that Mum called her because I really

didn't want to cause Rosie any trouble, but I'm honestly thankful for that call too. | got to spend the night with

Rosie, which is a dream that ctrue.

"| wanted to cover, but she toldnot to," Mum says over the phone.

"She madesoup and gotmedicine. She took great care of me," | assure her.

| think that maybe she's starting to like you?" Mum asks and | sigh. | don't want to indulge myself in fantasies, so

| try not to think about that. It's a question | don't have an answer to because | don't know if I'm ever going to

figure out how she

sees me.

"I don't know. All | can tell you is that we're having a good ttogether," | tell her the truth.

| stay on the phone with her for another fifteen minutes before | hang up. | take my medicine then | decide to

work on one of my assignments for a while. | take longer than usual because of how | keep coughing. After a

while, | decide to take a shower and get ready for my dinner with Rosie. | put on a he from the cold weather.

because | want to buy Rosie a couple of books. | wonder what her reaction will be upon seeing the books. Does

she even like it when people buy her books? | hope for the best and ask the shop assistant to guideto the

newly released romantic . | spend almost thirty minutes, trying to guess which ones she will like most. |

end up getting her five books even though my original plan was to books | think she will enjoy.

After paying, | head over to the café which is a ten-minute walk from the bookstore. For the past few hours, my

nerves have been all over the place because Rosie is with Everest. | don't like it when they meet after class or

outside the campus, tell her not to meet him. He is Rosie toldthat they had a project together. Even if they

don't have that project, | can't in

get her two, but | don't know which ones she will prefer, so | just end up getting her the fir

her friend after all.

At exactly five, | walk inside the café and easily spot Rosie. Everest is still there. It's not my first tto see him,

but whenever | do, my mood instantly shifts to the worse. | frown when | see him reaching for her hair. Why

would he touch her hair? She doesn't even like it when people touch her hair. | tighten my fist when he tucks a

strand beside her ear. My eyes dart to her face and | can tell that she's not comfortable.

The two of them get up from their place and when they hug, my frown deepens, especially when | notice how

tightly he is hugging her and the way his hand moves to the small of her back. He even dares to kiss her cheek.

| walk over to them and Rosie is the first to notice me. She beams the moment she seesand | instantly give

her a kiss on the lips the moment she moves towards me. | want Everest to understand that she is mine. He

doesn't need to know that she is actually mine. "How was studying, sweetheart?" | ask her, keeping my arm

wrapped around her waist. | like how she keeps her body pressed

to mine.

"Quite exhausting," she mumbles.

"I gotta go now. It was nice seeing you, Silas," Everest says and | finally look at him.

"Nice seeing you too, Everest. But it wasn't nice seeing you get touchy with my girlfriend," | say. | immediately

feel the way Rosie tenses and | wonder if | should have dropped it.

Everest," | pointed out.

"Nothing happened, Silas. We're just friends," Rosie tellsin that soft voice of hers.

"Oh cupcake, | know you didn't do anything. You were friendly, Everest wasn't," | assure her.

"Sorry if you got the wrong idea, but Rosie is just my friend. | will see you later, Rosie." | watch as he walks away.

Something about this guy doesn't seem right and all | want is to keep Rosie away from him; however, | don't

know if Rosie is going to accept that or not.
