Chapter 73

"It has cto my notice that we've never done that before, so I'm really excited about the whole double date

thing," Harper said as she applied another layer of mascara.

Officially, I had recovered from my bullet wounds and Jeffrey's hearing was in ten days. | knew that he wasn't

going to receive a lifetin prison, but | knew that he wouldn't get a year or two either.

Julian and Ansel decided to take Harper andon a double date which was a first. We had never been on a

double date before, so we were a bit confused, yet excited.

"Do | look good?" | had an olive green dress on with gold heels and a gold clutch. My hair was pulled away from

my face in a half updo and it fell against my back. "You look absolutely gorgeous!" she gushed, makingsmile.

"And you look dashing." She was on fire with her baby blue dress and silver heels. Ansel was so lucky to have

someone as beautiful as her as his partner. Honestly, she was lucky too because Ansel was a great husband. He

loved and supported her in a way many women "It's kind of weird that they said they would be waiting for us at

the restaurant. Don't you think?" | wondered, adding stouchups to my lipstick.

"Yeah, like why didn't we go together?" she agreed with me. "Men are weird." She shrugged, makingchuckle.

"They probably say the sthing about us sometimes," | told her.

"One tAnsel couldn't understand why | was crying because the hot water wasn't working and | wanted to

take a shower. He toldto just take a cold shower since it was Summer and | burst into tears." | could see

myself in the sposition. "He didn't understand that "I get it, but he probably won't," | said. Men couldn't

really get everything about women and that was fine by me. The thing I loved about the man |

was in love with was how he would ask'What can | do to make you feel better?’ whenever he felt lost.

Usually, all | wanted was for him to holdfor a while.

"Are you done?" | wondered, looking at Harper.

"Yeah, let's go." The two of us headed towards my car and | drove off to the restaurant they told us about.

| spent around two weeks at hand Julian made it his number one mission to take care of me. | wasn't

allowed to cook or do anything and only when the doctor said that | needed to start walking did he allowto

moving around. He was absolutely insufferable, but he was lucky that I loved him. | also didn't want to worry him

at work since he had to get back to the office after two spending a week working from home, so I thought if I did

what he wanted, he wouldn't be anxious while were always with me.

| was relieved when the doctor clearedand said that | could move freely. | also wanted Julian to get back to

his normal life, but it didn't escape my notice how overprotective

he had become. Before the incident, we didn't usually go out with bodyguards. Now, having bodyguards was a

must. | could clearly see the car driving behind me. Those were the bodyguards Julian assigned for me. A few

months ago, | would have hated the idea. But now, Harper and | arrived at the restaurant. After parking the car,

the two of us got out of it and made our way to the restaurant door.

"Shoot! | forgot my phone in the car. You go inside and | will get it," Harper told me. Since | was basically at the

restaurant stairs, | nodded and handed her the keys.

When | opened the door, | was surprised to see that the place was empty. There were dim lights and rose petals

on the floor.

What was going on?

| loved the romantic gesture, but did Julian and Ansel need to go that far? Did they need to book the entire

place?

| felt bad for walking alone and taking in the surprise on my own. Harper should have been with me. Where did

she go anyway? Why was she taking so long?

I looked at the rose petals on the floor and noticed that they made a path. Curiosity killedand | decided to

follow it. Soft music played in the background and I felt like | was in a romantic movie scene.

I made a left turn, following the path, and found myself in a secluded area of the restaurant. When | raised my

head to look in front of me, | ended up giggling loudly. Julian was waiting forat the end of the path with a

huge bouquet of pink carnations in his hands. "What's going on?" | asked softly, looking around.

"Hi, sunshine," he said, smiling at me.

"Hi." Again, | giggled as | took the flowers from him. "What's all of this?" | gestured to the romantic atmosphere

around me.

"I have been thinking and | have cto the realization that you're my entire world. | cannot imagine myself

living without you. You understandlike nobody else and when you're near, | feel complete. | look forward to

waking up next to you every day. My whole world bri I held the bouquet close to my heart and my eyes glistened

with tears as | listened to the love of my life pour his heart to me.

"| lost you once and that taughtto love you with everything in me. | blindly trust you and | will do anything

for you just to see you safe and happy. This time, if you agree to marry me, | promise you a version of forever

just like the ones you see in Disney movies, especiall | found myself nodding vigorously as he took my left hand

and put the ring on my finger. More tears fell down my face as | looked at the ring. That wouldn't be our first time

to get married, but this thad its own beauty.

He took the flowers fromand placed them on the table beside us. "I'm hopelessly in love with you, Emily." He

brought my body closer to his and kissed my lips like there was no tomorrow. He tookto another world and

portrayed the most delightful image in my mind. Slowly, he pulled away and there was the most beautiful smile

on his lips. "Maybe you should look behind you," he said, makingturn around.

| gasped when | saw basically everybody | loved behind me. It dawned onthat Harper was in on it.

"You didn't forget your phone in the car did you?" | asked Harper, who shook her head with a grin on her face.

"Liar," | laughed as she approachedand we hugged each other.

"One step away from being my sister-in-law again!" she excitedly said.

After being congratulated by everybody in the room, we all decided to have a family dinner. | was still in pure

awe and

couldn't believe that Julian really took that step. It wasn't like we weren't both serious about our relationship, but

| thought that he would want to wait more.

| was glad that he didn't wait though. | wanted us to be husband and wife again. | wanted to be officially his and

remove all doubts. | wanted the whole world to know that nothing was going to pull us apart again.

"You know," Julian said as we both lay down in our bed at night, "I still have the old ring. | never gave it away, but

| thought giving you a new one would be better. | want this marriage to be different. | want this one to be

successful and | thought that maybe giving you the old "I'm in love with this one," | said, raising my hand in front

of my face to look at my stunning ring.

"I'm glad you do." He reached for my hand and brought it to his lips to kiss it. "I have a question."

"Shoot," | looked at him.

"Would you want to take my last name?" he wondered, makinglook at him with confusion. "I mean, you now

built a nfor yourself and you might want the world to know you as Amelia Eddings."

"I want to have your last name. | want to be a Kensington again. I'm even thinking about officially going back to

the nEmily, but | feel like it might be confusing," I said.

"Confusing to whom?" he asked, playing with my fingers.

"To... the people around." | was slightly unsure of what | was saying.

"Don't think about anybody else. Just think about what would make you comfortable. That's all," he said, lacing

our fingers together. "I can't wait until | see you walk down the aisle."

"We already did that," | pointed out, but he shook his head.

"It doesn't count. This t| want to see you walk towardswillingly. | want you to be sure the man who will

be waiting for you at the end is head over heels for you." | slightly pulled myself up and crashed our lips

together.

Julian was just like the men | read about in my books. No matter how many times | tried to convince myself that

this was all true, my mind failed to comprehend that. Because | wasn't used to being that lucky. Every night, |

prayed with everything inthat nothing would take him away from
