The Alpha's Slave Mate

Daphne's Point of View With the arrival of the catering company there was a flurry of activity. Hannah, Theo, and Scarlett helped to get all the kids upstairs and settled into their rooms so that they could get washed up and changed for dinner. | think that Marcus and Lola were relieved that we agreed to take Isabella and the twins. We all understand that we need to be hush hush regarding the hybrid status of the kids.

Hybrids are frowned upon in nearly every community, even more so than rogues. There is a natural distrust between wolves, witches, and vampires. For centuries we fought each other mercilessly. Unfortunately for witches they were often used as pawns for factions fighting each other. The legend says that the reason there are so few witches today, is due to the enslavement they faced back then. As with all things humans and technology progressed, and we all moved forward. With the ever-increasing threat of human exposure and experimentation the factions sunk into the shadows, hiding our true natures and adapting to the ever- progressing world around us. Until today | had never met a witch, vampire, or hybrid. | cannot help but wonder if that is the cause of our peculiar wolves within our own pack.

Unfortunately, we do not get much tto discuss the matter or what now lies ahead for us, because we are informed that more visitors are passing through our borders. | look at Caleb knowing that the moment | have dreaded is here. Since all of the other guests are here this means Alpha Noah has finally arrived.

“Perk up beautiful, you are a Luna now. Do not allow them to see that they still affect you.” Scarlett says as she givesa quick side hug. | try to hype myself up as we once again shuffle to the front door.

“Well today has certainly been a bucket full of surprises.” Theo says as he wraps his arms around Scarlett’s waist and rests his chin on top of her head.

“To be honest, when | was first told about this gathering, | never expected the that would be involved with it.” | am slightly embarrassed that | spoke the thought out loud, but everyone murmurs their agreement with me.

“It is by far the most rambunctious meeting | have attended, more less held in stime. | think the last tthere was this much was when Alpha Marcus was accused of screwing Alpha Leon’s daughter.” The boys chuckle at the joke and | see Scarlett playfully elbow her mate.

“Did you actually do it Theo?” | hate when a story is only half told.

“No, | never laid hands on the girl. Her father desired an alliance with our pack but refused to change his mind on the idea of slaves. Caleb and | were younger, and a bit more hot headed back then. When Leon knew that we would not budge he made the accusation in front of other Alphas thinking that | would be pressured into mating the girl thus forcing an alliance. What he did not consider was the fact that the girls destined mate would be there, or that his own daughter would vehemently deny his accusations. It was a lot of , and headache.” Theo pulls Scarlett to him even tighter, and | see a slight blush in her cheeks.

Our story tis finished as the car holding my fathers former Beta pulls into our drive. | take a deep breath and put on a fake smile, praying that it will suffice for this meeting. My smile falters after Heather opens the back passenger door. Her clothes are so skimpy that she may as well have been naked. | also see that Noah has brough Gabriel and Shawn with him. Both of them were strong warriors in my father’s army.

“Alpha Noah, Luna Mellissa welcto the Blue Mountain pack.” Caleb’s voice is strong and steady, and it is from him that | draw strength now. | flash them both a big smile, but it turns to a grimace at Heather's words.

“What no big welcforAlpha Caleb? Hmmm | am sad | thought we meant more to each other than that.” Heather's words havegrowling and | am ready to unleash the pent up anger | have within me.

“Heather whatever delusions you have in your head are none of my concern.” Caleb’s voice is icy, that even | am surprised by the sudden flip in his mood. “I will warn you now that Daphne is the Luna here, any disrespect will be seen as a threat, and any threat will be terminated immediately.” | know it is wrong, but | could not help grinning ear to ear as Heather took a step back and her eyes grew wide in fear.

“After all we did terminate the last threat that cfrom that pack.” This tit was Scarlett that was staring daggers at the girl.

If she had not been so cruel tofor so long, | may have taken pity on her but she was a huge tormentor while | was in the Silver Moon pack.

“Luna Daphne, she meant no disrespect. As a young woman yourself | am sure you understand that she does not always speak before opening her mouth.” Melissa once again tries to make excuses for her daughter's behavior.

“No Luna Melissa | do not know how that is. You see | grew up in a place that | was not allowed to speak unless | was granted permission. So, no | have never spoken without thought. Now that | am a Luna, | must always consider my words carefully, as | am sure you have learned by now.” | was not going to let them think that | needed my family to fight my battles for me. | am stronger now, better than they ever dreamed possible.

“Your rooms have been prepared; we have a dinner planned for this evening. Since you are the last to arrive, | assthat you will want to get settled quickly. | will have Brandon escort your warriors to their quarters as well.” Caleb is trying to dismiss them quickly before there is any more confrontation.

“Actually, | have made Gabriel my Beta and | would prefer that his quarters are close to mine. One can never be too careful.” Noah laughs at the end, but his nervousness is evident to everyone.

“Unfortunately, due to the lateness of your arrival, we are unable to fulfill that request at the time.” | know that Caleb is not being truthful. Just off the top of my head | know that we have at least two more adjoining rooms that should be available for guest use. | assthat he did this to keep Noah's guard up.

“That does seem a tad unprofessional.” Noah is baiting Caleb.

“No what is unprofessional is begging to be included in a gathering of friends. What is unprofessional is waiting until late afternoon to arrive, and to bring a child that is barely clothed. What is unprofessional is to not teach your pup how to act, and address those that are superior to her in every way.” Wow | never expected Caleb to get that aggressive so quickly, but even though he said everything in a calm manner the underlying threat is obvious. Noah knows that he is in the wrong and hastily apologizes.

Brandon comes and gathers the guy’s things and escorts them to the warrior quarters. Theo and Scarlett offer to lead Alpha Noah and his family to their rooms. Once they are inside, | finally allow my shoulders to drop.

“Oh, this is going to be a long week.” | pout not even attempting to hide how much | hate interacting with them.

“Yes, my love it is. Welcto being a Luna.”
