Caleb's Point of View There is nothing more satisfying than starting the day by pleasing your wife. Thankfully, Daphne had hired the catering company to be available all this week, so | knew that our guests were being taken care of for breakfast. After Daphne and | showered and got dressed for the day, | kissed her goodbye, and gave her a good swat on the butt. She has arranged for the women to go to the local spa and to be pampered. | was all smiles as | got the paperwork ready for the first round of meetings with the Alphas. Today was going to be a productive, but good day.

“Alpha Caleb, may | have a moment of your time?” | was interrupted by Alpha Jeraskingfrom the doorway of my office.

“Of course, you may. Can | get you a drink?” | offer him, but he shakes his head no as he wearily takes a seat across from my desk.

“Getting old is hell young man.” He begins with a chuckle. “I wanted to speak to you privately for a moment. | know that my son Elliot will be leaving soon to head to Georgia with his mate. | would never try to stop him as | believe that he has a right to follow whatever path in life he chooses.” He pauses for a moment taking a deep breath. “I am very behind on my training with Hawk. As you know it is tradition that the eldest child takes the reigns of the pack when the Alpha steps down. Since | had assumed wrongly that it would be Elliot, Hawk's training has now been fast tracked.” | nod in understanding. “I have full confidence that Hawk will be an excellent Alpha, but | have fears as well. | am not well Caleb. Our pack doctor has already confirmed that | do not have much tin this world. “ “May | ask what ails you?” “Besides the fact that | have already had many years upon this Earth, | have developed cancer.” | shot him a confused look. It is not normal for our kind to develop these kinds of diseases. Our wolf counterparts normally heal us quickly before these types of diseases can manifest.

“It is an extremely aggressive type of cancer, that is attacking my cells faster than my wolf can heal me. | have seen several specialists, there is nothing that can be done now. Alma and | have accepted this, and | have lived a good life.” “| am still sorry to hear that you are going through this. Is there anything that we can help with?” Alpha Jeris a good man, and it is heartbreaking to know that he is going through this pain.

“Yes, actually that is why | wanted to speak with you. | assumed that we are renewing the alliances between our packs, and for that | am grateful. | have a favor to ask of you specifically though.” He pauses again and takes a deep breath. | know that it is difficult for him to ask for help. “If | should perish before | finish Hawk's training, would you and Theo take him under your wing? He knows how to handle the day-to-day activities, but | know that social events, peace treaty signings, and such are going to be difficult for him.” “Alpha Jerletput your mind at ease. | and my pack will ensure that yours is well taken care of. Hawk will always find a friend in us, and | will watch over him in your absence.” The man rose to shake my hand and | could not stop myself from coming around the desk to grasp him in a hug. Although we had not always been close since the disaster of mine and Daphne's mating ceremony, we had grown rather fond of the Mission pack.

“| also wanted to let you know that Elliot and Winona are going to be leaving this morning. They are getting a head start on traveling to her pack.” He looked rather sad at the fact.

“Not to pry into family matters, but does Elliot know that you are sick?” | ask him.

“No” he shakes his head with a small chuckle. “He is recently mated, and | will not taint that for him. He is a good boy, strong heart, and friendly natured. | know that he will do well in this life. That is all a parent can ask for really, is for their children to be happy and healthy. The Moon Goddess blessedand Alma beyond measure.” The older Alpha was getting a little emotional.

“Perhaps we should go wish them luck and blessings upon their journey. We still have tbefore we are supposed to be meeting.” We both walk out of my office. It did not take us long to make it down into the foyer. Elliot, Winona, Scarlett, Alma, Daphne, Hannah, and Isabella are already there. Everyone was slightly teary eyed as they were saying goodbye to the young couple.

Daphne and Alma had packed them a cooler of snacks and drinks to take with them. The young couple were already packed and ready to leave. | watched as Alpha Jerpulled his son in for a big bear hug, before including his new daughter in law in the hug as well. It was a rather touching moment, and | pulled Daphne into my chest for scomfort.

“| was expecting everyone to stay longer, but our guests seem to be leaving rather quickly.” She gavea quick peck on the cheek.

“That is how sof these gathering go my love. It is normal do not be upset.” | tell her.

“l am not upset, just trying to get used to everything.” “Besides dear would you have preferred if Heather stayed?” | cannot miss the opportunity to tease her slightly, but it earneda quick jab from her elbow. We all waved the young lovers goodbye as they piled into their car and started on their journey to the east. | gave Alpha Jera pat on the back, knowing that this moment was not easy for him. Once everyone was inside | pulled Daphne away for a quick moment.

“l am getting ready to meet with the Alphas and begin our work of renewing the peace treaties. Are you girls still doing a spa day?” | am hoping that she says they will be.

“Yes, we are getting ready to go. Even though Heather, Melissa is still here with Noah. | will try to be nice today to make up for my actions yesterday.” She tellswhile looking down at the floor.

“Daphne be courteous, but you do not have to attempt to be her friend. Our alliance with them is purely because it is your former pack, but | have not forgotten nor forgiven their treatment of you. | want you to relax today as well, you deserve it my love.” | tilt her chin up so that she is lookingin the eyes, | want her to see my sincerity. Finally, she nods in acceptance of my words.

“] am going to invite Isabella to cwith us as well. Hannah and her seem to be getting along, and | doubt that she has been pampered much since she was stolen as an infant. Mavin has decided to adopt all three children and | am sure Isabella will enjoy the break from the twins.” | tell her that | think that is a great idea. With a final chastised kiss, | watch my beautiful mate walk towards the other ladies.

“Alright guys | will let the other girls know that we are leaving soon. We have a few warriors that will be driving us into town.

Scarlett can you please ask Hannah to invite Isabella along as well.” | watch her round up the women and my heart swells with pride at my Luna. | send another silent thank you to the Moon Goddess as | turn the corner to finish grabbing my papers and get ready for the meeting.
