191 He is mine

“The person I have business with isn’t you... now, how about you tell me where she is or....,” said Ikeda Yua only for Zi Han to interject,

“Or else what?” his voice low and indifferent like this conversation had nothing to do with him at all.

Apart from Yi Chen, no one else had dared to treat her this coldly. Even Yi Chen gave her some face because of her identity. Everyone else treated her like a goddess. Girls wanted to be her and boys wanted to be with her. Such was the norm but now she had met an outlier.

Ikeda Yua sneered and her gaze glanced past Zi Han simultaneously meeting Yi Chen’s gaze. He was still customizing the training difficulty level based on Zi Han’s requirements which was why it was taking so long.

It took Li Ran tapping his shoulder for him to turn around. Who would have thought he would see such a scene?

Knowing that Yi Chen would walk over and tell her to leave, Ikeda Yua spoke quickly issuing a threat.

“You can’t protect her for long. I will find her soon enough. Let’s see then if y-,” she said but Zi Han wasn’t messing around.

“What business do you have been the third party? He doesn’t like you,” he said and with a cold glint flashing in his eyes he leaned in close and whispered, “Since you didn’t understand my message before let me say it in person. Back. Of. Bitch..... He’s mine.”

“Fuc....,” she swore having realized something. But before she could even react Yi Chen pulled back Zi Han with an intense sourness stuck in his throat.

.....

When he saw Zi Han whisper sweet nothings to her it took every fibre in his being to restrain himself and not throw a fit. With a gloomy gaze, he pulled Zi Han back and didn’t even bother giving her face. He dragged Zi Han into the simulator.

For the first time in his life, Zi Han finally felt the full force of a man eating gallons of vinegar. Not the balsamic kind but white vinegar, the sourest of them all.

He was so angry that he decimated his own record leaving no enemies for Zi Han to kill. It was as though Zi Han was just tugging along for the ride.

Y Chen was like a hall of fame player performing a one-man show in an NBA game, leading his team to victory without his team mates even lifting a finger.

“Ah Chen-ge, I didn’t even get to shoot one,” complained Li Ran feeling quite aggrieved. His colourful mech stood atop a huge sand dune like the mountainous dunes of the Red Desert planet as he watched the floating screen count the number of kills.

Because one would be deployed to various planets in the military it was especially crucial to subject them to different environmental pressures in the simulator and enhance their ability to adapt under different climate conditions.

The desert wind blew violently as the saffron-colored sands covered the corpses of high level beasts scattered all over the ground.

Holding an armour piercing rifle which he didn’t get to use, Zi Han walked over and stood beside of Yi Chen’s mech staring at him.

Despite setting his eyes on him for the past ten minutes Yi Chen didn’t even look at him. His face was expressionless his chest gently rising and falling like he was catching his breath.

Zi Han’s mech moved a little closer and nudged him with his elbow while asking, “Hey, what’s wrong?”

Yi Chen bit his bottom lip hard as though enduring something. After calming himself down he replied, “It’s nothing. I am fine.”

Zi Han wanted to ask if he understood the meaning of the word ‘fine’ when a four legged creature emerged from within the sand bellowing with his claws and fangs brandished ready to tear Li Ran’s mech apart.

Li Ran excitedly engaged his weapon and as the luminous bars on its muzzle lit up he moved his finger to pull the trigger but with a bang, the beast was vaporized midair leaving a few splatters of purple blood.

“Oh come on,” yelled Li Ran having been robbed again and the culprit obvious.

“The blind mission has begun. There is no known number of targets. Stay sharp,” said Yi Chen his voice cold and aloof like he was completing the task with strangers.

“Yah, that is if you don’t rob me first,” murmured Li Ran resulting in Yi Chen’s steely gaze being set on him, “Ha ha, I said nothing. Please carry on.”

This entire time Zi Han kept staring at Yi Chen his gaze apprehensive. He could clearly see that Yi Chen was not in a good mood but was he really upset because of that girl?

If he didn’t know any better he would think Yi Chen was jealous. Yi Chen had asked him to play pretend so as to get rid of this person so why was he upset when he did exactly as asked?

Zi Han wanted to ask but he could only swallow it down for now. For the next two hours, the trio were bombarded by waves of relentless attacks but these three weren’t vegetarians either.

They gave as good as they got and with Captain Chen taking the lead they were surely going to break their record. Exhausted both mentally and physically they left the simulator and headed for the locker room.

Zi Han sat down on the locker bench and stared at Yi Chen who was angrily taking out his bath towel and bath supplies.

He wiped the sweat dripping off his forehead with the towel hanging around his neck but his gaze remained fixed on Yi Chen.

Raking his fingers through his damp hair he asked, “Do you want to talk about it?” he asked his voice low but Yi Chen heard it. He shook his head in refusal and Zi Han sighed while straightening his back.

He followed Yi Chen with his probing gaze until he disappeared into the showers. Zi Han twisted the cap of a water bottle and drank a mouthful his eyes a little dim.

“Don’t worry about him. Give him time. He just needs to cool off first then he will talk about it when he is ready,” explained Li Ran standing next to Zi Han while pulling either end of the towel hanging around his neck.

“En,” replied Zi Han before downing the rest of the bottle in one go. He knew that Yi Chen would eventually talk when he was ready but Zi Han lacked the patience at the moment. He really wanted to know what was bothering him.
