225 He was extremely possessive

“Ma,” whispered Zi Han as he stood outside the villa watching her slowly walk in. She waved her hand at him telling him to stay there before going into the villa alone.

His mother hadn’t been right since yesterday and Zi Han was worried. His grandfather had told him to take care of his mother and not let her do anything stupid. Now she wouldn’t even let him follow her inside.

Zi Han could only obey. He walked over to the rustic porch swing surrounded by overgrown grass. He curled his fingers around the chain of the porch swing as he watched Lynn Feng enter the villa pulling a suitcase with her equipment.

Zi Han sighed while staring at the patch of grass he woke up lying on. He began to recall the feelings and emotions he felt when he met his father. His eyes became misty when he remembered the pain he felt when he left him. It was like someone had taken a knife and stabbed it straight into his heart before twisting it.

“Are you okay?” asked secretary K who had shown up at some point and sat next to him.

Zi Han embarrassedly wiped away the tear at the corner of his eye and said, “I am okay?” before the two fell into silence.

Secretary K was a man of a few words. He knew Zi Han’s character very well. Zi Han wasn’t the type to open up when asked unless he makes that decision himself. Secretary K was just there to keep him company.

“Did..... did you know him?” asked Zi Han with slight hesitation.

Secretary K stared at the villa blankly as though contemplating something. After a while, he opened his mouth and said, “I did. He was.... more like a class clown and he was always in a jovial mood, especially whenever he saw the madam.”

.....

Zi Han gently kicked the grass with the tip of his shoe before asking, “What were they like together?” To be honest that wasn’t what he wanted to ask. What he wanted to ask was, “Was the love between them worth all this pain she was going through?” but he had to rephrase the question as he felt it inappropriate.

Secretary K smiled recalling how the pair stuck together like glue. The sweetness between them was something plenty envied but could never get.

“Their relationship was a secret so everyone thought they were just in a..... business relationship. But when they were alone they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. It was so bad that anyone around them would feel very uncomfortable.”

“Even when they were at public events your father would constantly glance at her with such affection in his eyes that it’s a miracle no one knew.”

“One time at these fancy parties the madam got stopped by one of these prime ministers. I don’t remember which one it was but they wanted to introduce her to his son for you know.... marriage. This wasn’t the first time he had asked her by the way.”

“Your father was never the serious type. He was always smiling and he was very nice to everyone but when he found out he didn’t even ask questions. He just straight-up punched the old man hard knocking him out cold. He went on a rampage stunning the entire federation.”

“Someone who was supposed to be calm and gentle actually beat up an old man. People assumed that it was because of political conflict but in truth, it was because he was a very jealous man.”

“He was extremely possessive and loved the Madam so much that he was willing to give up everything for her. This villa is a perfect example of what he was prepared to give up. It’s a shame he never got to achieve that.”

Zi Han silently listened to him. This was the first time anyone ever talked about what his father was like and his relationship with his mother. Their relationship sounded wonderful and for the first time he also wanted that for himself and he could have that with Yi Chen. Maybe he wouldn’t lose him like his mother lost his father. Maybe he shouldn’t be so afraid of getting hurt and just let himself sink into the feeling.

Secretary K patted Zi Han’s shoulder and suddenly said, “Knowing what she knows now she would still fall in love with him again. Not only was she happy with him, but she also got to have you. She will gladly accept the pain of loss because what she gained when she had him can’t be replicated.”

Zi Han slowly digested those words and as he raised his head he saw his mother’s figure through the ceiling-to-floor windows. A slight smile crept up his face having understood something.

Meanwhile, the bushes next to Zi Han began to shake and while he wasn’t looking a tiny blue Nimsel snuck into his clothes. Zi Han suddenly felt ticklish. He jumped up while unzipping his jacket.

“Shit shit shit,” he swore his imagination running wild. If it is a snake then he might as well die here. That was another thing he was afraid of besides ghosts.

“Hold still, let me see,” said secretary K but Zi Han didn’t even hear him. He took off his jacket and slammed it to the ground his expression ghastly white like he had seen a ghost.

Zi Han drew his handgun and he was about to shoot at the jacket when secretary K picked it up and shook it. A high-pitched squeak was heard followed by a soft thud.

“Wee....,” was the sound it made as Secretary K picked up the little Nimsel.

When Zi Han saw it his eyes lit up and he holstered his weapon. He rushed over to grab that cute little furry baby robbing Secretary K.

Secretary K, “....”

He liked furry things too, okay? Zi Han tickled the Nimsel’s little belly while asking in a playful voice as though talking to a baby. “You missed me so much that you came to see me, huh? How come you seem a lot cuter than before?”
