Chapter 365 How Could You Be So Ruthless?
Amanda had nothing to say, for Raymond’s wife was indeed killed on their watch.
Suddenly, Elias tugged the woman behind his back and glanced at Raymond. “Does that
mean you won’t believe me no matter what I say now?”
Raymond remained silent and looked out the window dispassionately. It was as if there
was nothing in this world that was worth his attention.
“In that case, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
Even Amanda was shocked as she asked, “What are you going to do?”
She had no idea what move they could still use to make Raymond expose the culprit,
considering that the woman he loved was gone for good.
“Don’t forget that your wife’s corpse is still in the mortuary. You’re her only relative. If no
one helps her deal with the funeral…” Elias didn’t finish his words, leaving it to Raymond’s
imagination.
Even Amanda found Elias cruel as his actions were inhumane at this point.
It was at this moment that she came to realize Elias was a resolute man who would stop at
nothing to achieve his goal.
Raymond finally reacted and turned to look at him. “How could you be so ruthless?”
“The outcome depends on whether you’re going to tell us the truth. So, the ball is yet
again. in your court. Since you understand the kind of person I am now, you’d better not
test me.” Elias sported an icy expression. It was as if he indeed had no concern for
someone else’s suffering.
All of a sudden, Raymond donned a dejected smile. “I’m such a useless husband. When
she was alive, I couldn’t get her illness treated. I can’t even organize her funeral now that
she’s dead. I truly don’t deserve a woman like her.”
“This matter has nothing to do with you in the first place. If you tell me who you’re taking
the fall for, I’ll get you out of here right now.”
Raymond was certainly swayed. He was resentful of Elias for killing his wife, but at the
same time, he wanted to see his wife for one last time.
The moment Elias caught sight of his hesitation, he pressed, “I’ll give you three days to

With that, he left the confinement cell with Amanda.
Then, he said to the prison officer, “If anyone visits him or contacts him through phone
calls. or emails in the next few days, let me know immediately.”
“No problem.” Suddenly recalling something, the prison officer continued, “By the way,
before we received a call from the hospital, someone called and talked to Raymond. He
only told us that he’s Raymond’s distant relative. The call lasted for several minutes.”
“Give me the phone number!” Elias frowned, feeling that he was getting closer to the
truth.
When Amanda returned to the Allegra Villa in the evening, she realized that the
atmosphere was rather cheerful in the dining hall.
They talked to each other joyfully, and Aiden kept asking his grandparents to place more
food on his plate.
Then, all of them stopped and looked at her upon registering Amanda’s presence.
“You’re finally back, Amanda. Come on and have a seat.” Edith was the first to speak.
Aiden leaped away from the chair and wrapped his arms around his mother’s legs. “Where
have you been, Mommy? I miss you very much.”
“You’re such a good boy. I’ve been busy for the past few days. Have you been eating your
meals on time?” Amanda gently caressed her son’s face.
“Yeah, I’ve been a good boy. You can ask Grandma about it.” He took Amanda’s hand and
brought her to the dining table before pigging out on his food again. The child was a
typical foodie.
Jack said slowly, “I tried to call you, but you didn’t answer. I have some good news to
share with you. Steph and Crispin got their marriage license today, and the wedding will
be held by the end of the month. Although we’re in a hurry, we still have to hold a proper
wedding
for them.”
Did they get the marriage license already? Amanda glanced at Crispin and Stephanie in
shock.
Whenever Stephanie looked at Amanda, unpleasant memories from the past returned to
haunt her. She closed her eyes in shame as she got to her feet and said, “I’m feeling
under the weather, Dad. I’ll be going back to my room now.”
With that, she left the dining hall.
“I’ll keep her company, Mr. and Mrs. Allegra, Please go on and enjoy your meal.” Crispin
was

ready to leave upon finishing his words.
Jack stopped him by saying, “Why don’t you go upstairs a bit later? Let’s discuss the
wedding. How many of your relatives will be coming? Your parents-”
Before he could finish his words, Crispin cut him off, replying, “I no longer have any
relatives, Mr. Allegra. I only have my mother now. I’ll tell her to come to the wedding, and
there won’t be
anyone else.”
“Only your mother?” Edith felt that something was amiss.
Jack furrowed his brows with displeasure. “Is she the only one who will come?”
What kind of wedding is that? Basically, only our friends and relatives will be attending.
Crispin replied with a gentle smile, “Mr. Allegra, I’m not a local, so I don’t have any friends
and relatives here. The relatives in my hometown are too far away, so they might not be
willing to come. I’m sorry about that.”
Therefore, Jack and Edith exchanged glances and stopped pestering him about his
relatives.
In actuality, the true reason Crispin refused to invite his friends and relatives from his
hometown was that he felt they were just a bunch of bumpkins. Also, he wanted to sever
ties with those poor relatives. Once he did, only then could he forget about his dirty past
and start a new life.
Besides, he would be part of the Allegras soon, there wasn’t a need for him to remember

“I’ll go to Steph’s room now.” Crispin nodded with a humble smile and stepped out of the
dining hall.
Edith let out a sigh. “Forget it. It’s not a big deal anyway. It’ll be good enough if he’ll
always prioritize Steph.”
Jack fell silent. He had always looked down on a poor man like Crispin in the past. Alas, he
had no choice but to agree to the marriage since his daughter truly loved the man.
Only Amanda felt that something was off about Crispin. She couldn’t put it into words, but
she couldn’t help but feel as though smugness was practically oozing from his very being.
It was as if he was relaxed enough to start behaving impudently after achieving a
particular goal.
He already had no regard for Jack and Edith before the wedding was even held. On the
other hand, Stephanie immediately ran away from Amanda, acting akin to a rat seeing a
cat.
All in all, she genuinely couldn’t brush aside the feeling that Crispin was up to no good. So,

she asked, “Don’t you guys find Crispin strange?”
Jack said, “What do you mean? Elaborate.”
He initially shunned Crispin, believing that the poor man was after their wealth.
Nevertheless, following the incident, he felt that there was a good chance that the man’s
love for Stephanie was sincere.
Nevertheless, he couldn’t put a finger on it but there was definitely something bothering
him about Crispin’s attitude after the man got a marriage license with Stephanie.
Amanda shook her head. “I’m not too sure about it myself. Frankly, no man would ever put
up with his girlfriend cheating on him. However, it seems that Crispin has never blamed
Steph for her betrayal. It’s as if he doesn’t mind it one bit. Is this how a man is supposed
to react? It would’ve been more than understandable if he had experienced some struggle
before coming to accept it. Yet, he’s been very calm.”
Jack knitted his brows together. He certainly had noticed Crispin’s composure, but
Stephanie throwing a tantrum was giving him a headache, so he wasn’t exactly in the
state of mind to think too deeply about Crispin’s reaction.
