Chapter 118

| looked around, but whoever my savior had been.. was gone. | looked down at my body and the small cuts that

had appeared on my arms and legs when the vines thorns had cutwere nowhere to be seen as well.

I rubbed my hands and legs, trying to feel the pain, but there was none either. | looked around wildly again and

asked loudly.

“Hello W

Who was that?”

My eyes roamed around nervously and | waited for a reply, but there was silence. Had | imagined all of it?

Definitely not.

So | tried again.

“I just wanted to thank you for the help. Thank you for saving me, | said and then a soft voice replied to me.

“Do not mentionto anybody” It seemed to reach my ears from behind. | turned around so fast that | felt | had

snapped

my neck

But the direction from which the voice had cwas devoid of any living being.

All | could see were leaves and branches. Why was this person playing hide and seek with me?

“B-but why are you hiding from me? L., | am not going to harm you, | offered. | didn’t look like a scary predator,

but I could not understand what this person wanted from me.

The voice let out a deep, rumbling laughter. “You cannot harm mac, but the people around you can and will.”

My friends? Eros? Arthur, Beauty?

The voice was speaking mysteriously, and | felt all the more intrigued.

“What people around me? Who will harm you?”

The voice seemed to be of a female, but | could not quite ascertain the age of the woman based on just the

voice alone. When I did not receive an answer, | tried again

“My nis Eden. What is yours? And why are you here in the forest? What were those vines?” 1 asked, but the

woman dodged my questions and spoke rather.

“Eden. You are in grave danger. Do not trust those around you.”

The voice seemed to echo through the forest, not lettingtrace it back to the location of the speaker who was

lurking in the woods. At one point it seemed to cfrom the right, at others from the left, as if the speaker was

circling me

Though how she was doing was a mystery to me.

And just why was she not showingher face?

| blinked. This mysteriousness was really confusing me.

“Who are you talking about? Can you at least givea name?”

The woman took such a long pause that | feared she was ne “The Hybrid King. Don’t trust him”

Chapter 118

The voice said, and then all of a sudden, the brightness disappeared. The forest was black again, and | sensed

that the woman was leaving to wherever she wanted to go.

| quickly scampered back on my feet and tried to stop her. This was a weird encounter, but | needed answers.

“Hello? Why should I not trust him?”

“Because he will use you and throw you away when he is done with you. You are just a sacrificial lamb.”

Her words held a bitter tone, but the way she spoke of Eros toldshe hated him to the core.

“W-why would you say that?” | tried again.

Various thoughts were flashing through my mind. We had been best mates in my previous life, and so could the

Eros now want to use and discard me?

But | love him. This was getting very confusing.

| was so lost in thoughts that | didn’t even notice that she had not answeredyet.

“Will you answer me, please?”

“Mark my words, and if you want to thankfor saving your life, you shall do as | say.”

“Do what?”

Don’t trust him and don’t mentionto anybody.”

“B-but | don’t even know who you are or what you want from me. You have not shown your face or toldyour

name. How can | trust you?” | countered. My question was a little stupid, but then I could not trust a stranger

insinuating that Eros wants

to kill me.

If he wanted to do that, he would've done it months ago, right? When he just broughtto his mansion.

“We will meet again.” She said, and before | could inquire further, a bright light shone on my face abruptly. It was

so intense that | instantly shut my eyes.

After a while, | opened my eyes, and | looked around.

I was startled.

What was | doing in the forest? How did | chere?

| tried hard to remember, but my brain could not givea single satisfactory answer to my questions. There

was only a lingering feeling, a light caress on my mind as if | had learnt something important today.

Something had toldthat Eros was not trustworthy.

But what or who was it? | scratched the back of my head and tried to recall, but a sharp bolt of pain shot up my

brain when | tried that.

Holding my head in my hands, | stumbled back and looked around hazily. And when | stopped trying to recall, the

paint disappeared too.

Maybe my wolf, Tiara, was messing with my head. That was the only thing I could think of.

When | looked up, the mansion walls were just a few feet away, so | began walking hastily towards the mansion. |

did not want to be scolded again for being out of the safe walls too late a night.

Chapter 118

| had bent to dust my clothes and was approaching the mansion simultaneously so | did not see ahead. And in

my haste, | bumped into something hard,

“Ouch” | muttered and felt as if | had walked into a concrete wall. But then two hands grabbedby the

shoulders and a familiar voice asked,

“What are you doing here?”

| looked up to see Eros, and he was staring intently at me. He looked angry and upset with me, and | only folded

together as the cold breeze swept past me.

“No-nothing- just my wolf going crazy,” | mumbled as he looked back at the forest.

“What were you doing there all alone? You know there are rogues running loose. And the rogue King is looking for

you. Do you not value your life?” He reprimandedand | lied.

“Nothing. | just wanted sfresh air”

| did not want to explain anything... because there was nothing to explain. Whenever | thought of why | had

chere or how, my head would start hurting.

Only the thought that | should not trust him was subtly poking at me, but | had no idea why that thought

appeared in my head.

| trust him. | want to trust him. But my mind was a mess.

Probably my wolf wanted us to meet our new life's mate, and not be tied to a cursed Hybrid King so she was

subtly telling my subconscious to stay away from him.

That could be the only theory that made sense to me. And it madefeel a little relieved that Tiara was trying

to communicate with me.....

Eros squinted his eyes, but did not say a word at my answer. He looked at the forest one word at my answer. He

looked at the forest one last tas if shidden enemy would spring up out of nowhere. When he was

convinced there was no one around, he looked back atagain.

“Let's get you back inside” He curled his fingers around my hand and we began walking towards the mansion.
