Lord Shevek’s face darkened as soon as the words left my lips. He frowned so deeply that | for a second |

thought | may have overstepped...

“I'm sorry, | shouldn't have asked that; it wasn't my business.” | said quickly to lighten the atmosphere.

There was a long pause before he answered, his eyes fixed on one spot. He looked vulnerable and then furious

“She betrayed me!” | jumped at the anger in his voice as he stamped his staff against the floor. He moved

closer; his voice had gone dead cold. “I don’t forgive those who betray me, especially when they are supposed to

be mine.”

| didn’t know what to say. | just looked at him. His words had cutlike a blade. | couldn't imagine how it must

have felt for him to kill his beloved

-the pain he must have gone through.

He sighed.

“It was long before you were born.” He started, his gaze lost again. “She worked with my foes, and told them my

flaws to ruin me. | had no choice.”

“But don’t you think death was a little too harsh?” | asked.

He shrugged. “She deserved it.” | was taken aback by the lack of remorse in his voice. | saw a coldness in his

eyes that | couldn't fully comprehend.

“How did you feel? Were you sad?” | wanted to know.

“I simply got rid of an enemy.” He said.

“That was it? What happened after?”

“It was the snight | met your mother. | just wanted to relieve the pain. | didn’t think our night together

would result in...” He looked at me, “You”

We shared a sad smile.

Then | asked “What did you think of my mother when you met?”

He stroked his beard “Rose? She was unlike any other. Kind, beautiful, soft spoken. She drewin.” He

chuckled. “But | couldn't ask for anything more from her. | couldn’t trust anyone.”

“Is that the reason why you've becso cold towards women?” | arched a brow his way.

“Why do you say so?”

“Your Harem of Women?”

He smiled. “They are for pleasure, nothing more.”

“Exactly. Do you think you will get to love again?” | whispered.

He chuckled. “Love is for the weak. I don’t wish to have another wife, and even if I do, it will be for official

reasons. Business. And she must be willing to accept my women. She can have other men if she wishes.” He

shrugged, “I don’t mind.”

Lord Shevek sighed. “Alright, | won't pressure you into doing anything you don’t want. | will excuse you now,” He

said before walking away.

| sighed looked up at the sky. The moon was dull, hidden beneath the dark sky.

It suited my mood. | wasn’t happy because of Eros and Susie. They ruined my day.

Oh, Eros.

I still hadn't heard a word from him. | reached for my phone, and then remembered what happened at the shop

earlier.

“No...."” | groaned. | needed to get a new phone.

“Do you really think Eros will cheat on us?” Tiara asked.

| sighed. “I don’t know. Susie said they spent the night together.”

Tiara went silent before saying, “He wouldn't cheat on us. We shouldn't believe a thing Susie says. She's lied to

us before.”

| felt my heart squeeze. The more | thought about it, the more angry | felt.

| wanted to hear Eros’s voice. | wanted him to talk to me, to comfortand say that Susie was trying to

separate us again.

| wanted to be in his arms, to feel his touch on me. | still couldn't get our last night together out of my head. The

way he fled me, his kisses.

| felt Tiara whimper. “We want our mate. We need him.” She whispered.

| shook my head.

| couldn’t imagine him touching Susie the way he touched me. | just couldn't.

| was lost in thought and wasn’t aware of a figure that approachedfrom behind. | turned sharply, about to go

in, when | collided with someone. “Hey!” A male grabbedfrom falling.

“Sorry.” | backed away, standing to my feet.

| brushed my hair back and looked up. | was still instantly.

Eros?

| assessed him. No, it wasn't Eros. Just someone that looked exactly like him.

Then | gasped. How was this possible?

From the face to the color of his eyes and his body frame, he looked almost identical to Eros.

But still different. Unlike Eros, he had a certain boyish charm, and wasn’t as tall as Eros.

| kept my gaze locked on him. Does my mate have a lost twin brother?
