Chapter 193

Eros stopped.

His hands around Ryker’s neck loosened, and Ryker fell to the floor in a helpless heap.

His words left the room with a revelation that was too shocking forto absorb at once.

“Step-brother?” | whispered.

Ryker looked at me. “It's quite shocking, isn’t it?” He wheezed.

Shocking was an understatement. While | had imagined that Ryker and Eroa might have an unusual connection, |

never imagined they would be actual brothers.

Eros never mentioned anything about that. Neither did Ryker.

Eros had suddenly calmed. Ryker’s words had struck something deep. His eyes lost the reddish glow it once had,

and he slowly lost the beastly build and fur on his skin.

He becnormal.

But he wasn’t in the right space. He just stared at Ryker in disbelief.

He stepped back, looked around, then hissed.

“Why am | here?” he mumbled, confused.

| didn’t respond. None of us could. We were still shocked by what Ryker said.

Maybe | should have carried out an investigation on who exactly Ryker was before | fully accepted Lord Shevek’s

words for what it was.

Has this been a plan all along? Did Lord Shevek know who Eros was all along? But he said he didn’t.

It was obvious that was a lie.

There was no way Lord Shevek wouldn't have known all about Eros, especially when Ryker was his brother.

So why was he bent on making Ryker my mate when he knew that | already have a mate who happened to be

the stepbrother to Ryker?

It was all messed up.

| couldn’t make sense of anything.

Susie went over to where Eros stood and said, “We should leave. We have been gone for far too long.”

Eros frowned and nodded.

Just like that, with just the force of the wind blowing against us, Eros disappeared.

| gasped.

What was that? What just happened? Since when does Eros fight with so much strength?

There was no question that Eros had always been powerful, but not to such an extent. Why is my mate now

changing to the beast | saw in the world?

“What was that all about?” Beauty gasped in surprise and echoed my thoughts.

“Eros has changed. There is something different about him.” Adonis said quickly.

| turned to Susie, who seemed like the only one who knew exactly what was going on. She wore a smug smile on

her face, and my fingers itched to wipe it off her.

A part ofhad been excited that Eros chere to protect me, which was why | thought Tiara and | would be

able to calm him down while he was enraged.

But it looked like Eros had gone wild for other reasons, and not because of me. | thought Eros chere for me,

to rescue me, only to realize he accompanied Susie.

| felt a pang of hurt. Where was the man | loved? What had happened to my mate?

Susie snapped her fingers in front of me.

“Snap out of it. There is no use getting worried about a lost cause.” She said with a glare.

“What did you do to my mate?” | bristled.

She scoffed. “Me? Why? Don’t you think Eros looks better now? Don’t you think he is beginning to act like the

king he is?”

“You are insane.” | growled. “You better not do anything to him else.”

“Oh please. You should be ashamed of yourself.” She looked pastat Ryker, who was still on the ground, his

face gradually getting healed. “How could you get yourself hooked with the brother of your mate?”

“Mind what you say to me?” | snapped.

“Why should I?” Susie giggled. “You are nothing but a desperate hybrid confused about her heritage.”

| felt my anger surge.

Susie never failed to always makemad.

| took a threatening step towards her. “One more word, and | will rip your throat out.”

Susie raised her chin in defiance, “You wouldn't dare!”

| smirked. “Try me.”

Before Susie could say another word, Adonis pulled Susie off. He pushed her away, and she stumbled to the floor.

“What is wrong with you?” She screamed at him.

Beauty frowned. “That's enough, Susie. | think we have had enough of your nonsense for one day.”

Susie's eyes widened in disbelief “Did you guys just take Eden’s side over me?” She growled. “I was friends and

a potential member of the pack way before Eden joined. How dare you treatlike this?”

Beauty rolled her eyes. “Haven't you done worse? You treated Eden like she was nothing but trash. Why can’t we

Adonis cocked his head to the side. “I'm curious. What exactly are you doing with Eros? Why are you with him?”

“It’s none of your business.” Susie snapped and got up. She glared at me. “I will never forget this. | will make

With that and a last look at Arthur, who still averted everyone's gaze, Susan stormed out. | assumed she went to

where Eros would be.

My shoulders slacked, and | suddenly felt weak as | held my stomach.

For most part of the night, | didn’t think about the baby. | wondered if Eros had even sensed it at all, just like

Ryker did.

One part ofhoped he did, so he would cback to me, and another part ofwas sure he didn’t. Eros

wasn’t himself. He didn’t look like he cared so much as to sense that | was with a child.

Before | could hold myself together, tears began to flow from my eyes. | broke down and cried out. Adonis and

Beauty were within a second.

Arthur still kept a distance, but I ignored his strange attitude.

While | cried, | didn’t notice Lord Shevek, who grabbed a pale-looking Ryker off the ground. But | heard his voice

boom through the hall, and with tear-stained eyes | turned to watch him.

Ryker’s wounds were healing, but he still looked weak.

“You have ruined everything!” Lord Shevek bellowed.
