Amber couldn't help but chuckle at his awkward attempts.
The security guard, after being hung up on, glanced between the unconscious Octavia and his phone before finally dialing 911.
If Ms. Donahue truly cared for Mr. Ulbricht, how did things end up like this?
All of Craneville was on edge. The Donahue family faced a crisis that nearly led them to bankruptcy.
After being discharged from the hospital, Octavia hit the ground running, trying to pull strings wherever she could, only to be met
with rejection. She finally understood the pain Elijah and his sister felt three years ago.
Octavia looked into Amber and Elijah's past. During Elijah's toughest times, it was Amber who stood by him, step by step, to where
they are now. No wonder Elijah was so protective of her.
Upon meeting Elijah again, he handed her an acquisition agreement. Octavia scanned the document. Elijah, being a businessman,
offered terms that were almost severe.
"We can't agree on this price."

Elijah didn't see it that way: "Ms. Donahue, given the precarious position of the Donahue family, if you refuse to sign, | assure you,
in three days, the Donahue family will be declaring bankruptcy."
He shrugged, "Considering our years of acquaintance, I've already offered the most generous terms... at least, more generous than
what the Donahue family offered three years ago."
Octavia's face turned pale, "Do you hatethat much? To humiliatelike this?"
Elijah sidestepped the question: "You have twenty-four hours. If you refuse to sign, then there's nothing more to discuss."
Elijah had plans to visit the hospital with Amber later and needed to prepare.
He stood up and left.
"Elijah."
Octavia's voice cracked behind him: "Have you been well these past three years?"
Elijah thought Octavia's concern was insincere, mere crocodile tears. He didn't even look back.
Octavia, clutching the acquisition contract, felt as if all her strength had been drained, collapsing to the floor.
Mabel was quite pleased with Amber, even giving her the Ulbricht family heirloom at their first meeting. Amber accepted it with a
smile. Elijah was happy to see it.
After dinner, Mabel was taken back to the Ulbricht family home, and Elijah dropped Amber off at the Granger home: "Get srest
early tonight."
Amber kissed him on the lips: "Will do."
Elijah headed back to the Ulbricht residence, where Mabel brought up the Donahue family: "I heard you're planning to acquire the
Donahue family?"
"Yes."
Mabel still had saffection for Octavia: "You and Octavia had your moments, you—"
"Mom, those moments mean nothing." Elijah was unsparing. "When the Ulbricht family fell, the Donahue family kicked us while we
were down, swallowing up our assets. These accounts must be settled."

Mabel sighed, ultimately choosing to remain silent: "As long as you and Amber are happy, that's all | care about."
Elijah helped Mabel to her room: "Don't worry, Amber and | are doing great."
After Mabel went to bed, Elijah contacted Isaac. "The Donahue family refuses to sign the agreement. After twenty-four hours,
increase the pressure."
Octavia refused to sign.
Twenty-four hours later, scandals about the Donahue family broke out, causing their stock to plummet.
That night, Octavia's fathermitted suicide in the police station, and her mother, ovee with distress, was rushed to the
emergency room.
Upon hearing the news, Octavia rushed to the hospital, only to realize she couldn't even afford the medical bills. She had
exhausted all her options. Her only choice was to contact Elijah.
Unfortunately, Elijah didn't answer his phone. She knelt outside the operating room, watching the seconds tick by, the sound in her
ears growing louder until the doors finally opened. The doctors shook their heads, and Octavia couldn't quite grasp her feelings,
feeling as though her soul had been ripped away.
Through the fog of time, she saw Elijah from three years ago, kneeling outside an operating room, with Eamon, who had treated
her like his own daughter, lying inside. Octavia covered her face, sobbing uncontrollably.
