Chapter 665
For the next while, Brittany’s plate would be full. Not only did she need to look after Daniel, but also had to deal with
countless dinner meetings.
The pressure from the Industrial and Commercial Bureau was through the roof, and the coppers were also
breathing down their necks.
Word was that they had found a witness, and if the Dustin Group got sued, all the blood, sweat, and tears of these
years would be down the drain.
At yet another dinner meeting, Brittany got totally hammered again and needed her assistant to hold her up as
they left the restaurant.
Brittany crumpled into the back seat of the car, puking her guts out. Her assistant looked on, upset, “Ms. Dustin, are
you okay?”
Brittany just shook her head, indicating she was fine.
Her assistant sighed, patted her on the back, helped her sit up, and got her home.
Back home, Brittany collapsed on the couch and drifted off into a daze.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNo one noticed, all night.
Not until the next day, when the nanny came, did she find Brittany still sprawled on the couch, burning up.
The nanny freaked out, immediately called an ambulance, and got Brittany to the hospital.
She was running a fever of forty degrees, almost cooking her brain.
The doctor urgently treated her, brought down her temperature, and only then breathed a sigh of relief.
Isaac got the news, rushed to the hospital, and seeing her so weak, his heart couldn’t help but skip a beat.
“Nathan, you handle the Dustin Group’s stuff,” he said.
He’d been waiting for Brittany to give in, but never expected that.
She had always been stubborn, but that time it was off the charts.
After Nathan left, Isaac sat by the window, quietly watching the world outside.
When Brittany woke up, she felt like she’d been hit by a truck.
Isaac poured her a cup of water, helped her sit up, and said, “Drink this.”
Brittany didn’t ask why he was there. She just took a sip and Jeaned against the head of the bed. Her voice was
hoarse, and she was unable to speak.
“You really shouldn’t talk right now,” Isaac said as he put down the cup, “I’ll take care of the Dustin Group’s stuff;
you just rest.”
Brittany managed a weak smile and said, “I didn’t ask for your help.”
“I know.”
With Isaac’s help, things got sorted out pretty fast.
The Dustin Group made it through the crisis, but Brittany had to stay in the hospital for nearly a week before she
could get discharged.
Once she was out, Isaac immediately took her back to the Radiant Residences, saying, “As a condition for helping
you, you need to move back here.”
“The kid needs a complete family. He knows better than anyone that we don’t get along.”
Isaac found Brittany’s weakness, making it impossible for her to refuse.
After moving back to the Radiant Residences, Brittany still insisted on staying in the guest room.
Daniel recovered really quickly, bouncing around again in less than a week.
Rumor had it that the family of the boy who bullied Daniel left Imperial City overnight.
Brittany got another glimpse of Isaac’s power.
The problem that she couldn’t solve even with her best efforts, he resolved with just a word.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBrittany stopped fighting him and even started showing signs of compromise.
When Isaac noticed, he started to openly and subtly make it up to her.
He cooked and drove her to and from work.
As time went by, even Daniel started thinking their parents were making up.
Brittany became gentler. She used to not even want to talk to Isaac.
Then, when he was working late, she brought him a cup of milk. Even though she still wore a cold expression, at
least it showed that she had changed. Isaac was really happy.
Even Wesley Tueley noticed the change, “I heard you and Brittany are getting along, made up yet?”
“Not yet, but she’s willing to talk to me now.”
Isaac thought that was a good start.
“Well, you should thank the Palmer family. Without their trouble, you wouldn’t have had a chance to play hero.”
Wesley, at that time was focusing on recuperating, not seeing any women, and dedicating all his efforts to
convincing Viola Miller to divorce.
Unfortunately, Viola firmly disagreed.
I’ve got an eye on a project recently. Are you interested?”
“Shoot.
