Chapter 681
Inside the office.
The project discussion was going quite smoothly, with both parties pleased with the prospects of their future
collaboration.
Just then….
The office door was kicked open by Carla!
“Bang!”
A vase was smashed fiercely onto the floor, and Carla’s dissatisfied voice echoed throughout the office, “Brittany,
you promised me you wouldn’t meet with William again, how could you…”
Startled, Brittany stood up swiftly!
The secretary rushed in, quickly realizing that she had messed up. “Mr. Dillion, I apologize.”
William didn’t expect Carla to show up, let alone make such a scene in front of everyone!
“Carla, what are you doing here? We’re discussing business, not having a clandestine meeting.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCarla looked around at the people in the office, frozen. Realizing that she had been played, she shot the secretary a
furious look. It had to be intentional.
“William, I’m sorry; I got carried away.”
Brittany, who had narrowly escaped the flying vase, no longer felt like carrying on with the discussion as she didn’t
have the mood, “Mr. Dillion, let my secretary handle the details of our collaboration. I must leave.”
William didn’t expect Carla to cause such a commotion.
“Let me walk you out.”
Brittany politely declined, “No need, I can manage on my own.”-
Her initial plan was to collaborate with Dillion Group on the project. However, because of the recent event she
needed to consider partnering with someone else.
After Brittany left, the others tactfully excused themselves.
Only two people were left inside the office. Carla, lips pursed tightly, asked for forgiveness, “William, I’m really
sorry, I didn’t realize there would be so many people.”
She had assumed that Brittany was using the opportunity to lure William.
William rubbed his temples, “What did you come here for?”
His tone was far from friendly.
“I came to bring you lunch,” Carla looked hurt. She had personally made soup and delivered it, assuming William
would be pleased.
“No need to do such a thing in the future,” William declined, “I prefer to keep my personal life separate from my
work. Unless there’s something urgent, it would be best if you didn’t come here.”
Carla looked displeased, “But I just wanted to spend more time with you.”
“If spending time with me means disrupting my work, then I think it would be best if we didn’t see each other.”
William knew Brittany well. She had initially withdrawn from the project, but he had insisted. After this dramatic
event, it was highly unlikely Brittany would consider collaborating with Dillion Group in the future.
Hiding her resentment, Carla pushed the lunch box towards William, “William, I’m sorry. I made this soup myself.
Please have some.”
“No need, I have a meeting soon. You should head home.”
With that, William gathered his documents and headed to the meeting room.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmCarla just stared at the disregarded lunch box, grinding her teeth as she shot the secretary a venomous look.
“You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You deliberately told me about Brittany’s collaboration with Dillion Group to
create discord, right?”
The secretary thought that Carla might be suffering from paranoia, “Ma’am, you’ve misunderstood. You asked me if
Ms. Dustin had come by, and I simply answered truthfully. And also, Ms. Dustin holds shares in Dillion Group. She is
part of the company.”
“Didn’t she give all her shares to William for free?” Carla questioned, fixating on the point.
“Mr. Dillion never signed the transfer documents.”
After the secretary left, Carla stormed out of the office room.
Back in her own office, Brittany carefully considered her options and eventually decided to be frank with William,
refusing to collaborate.
“Bri, is this because of what happened today?”
Brittany couldn’t deny the fact that today’s events had influenced her decision, “William, I didn’t consider all the
factors earlier. You are married now, and Ms. Salter seems rather uncomfortable with my presence. It would be
best if we minimize our business interactions.”
If incidents like today were to recur, she wondered whether she could continue doing business at all.
