Chapter 716
William found himself in the midst of a crowd, being approached by countless individuals.
“Mr. Dillion, it’s been a while.”
“Mr. Dillion, you’ve been landing some big deals lately. Here’s to your success,” a man toasted with a glass of
scotch.
William chuckled lightly, “Mr. Adams, isn’t your project progressing quite well? I’ve locked into it, and it seems very
promising. Hopefully, we can collaborate.”
The man laughed heartily, “Working with Mr. Dillion would be a privilege indeed.”
Brittany made her way to the bar, fetching a glass of champagne. She blended into the crowd, leisurely sipping her
drink. The champagne was slightly tart, sliding down her throat with a faint sweetness. It was top-notch.
Her appearance attracted many pairs of eyes, including William’s. After mingling with a few of the big shots, he

“It’s getting cold. Why didn’t you bring a jacket?”
It was late autumn, and the chill of Imperial City was becoming more evident.
“It’s just a dinner party. I won’t be staying long.” Brittany smiled, “Weren’t you chatting with them? Is it all right for
you to come here?”
“No problem at all.” William raised his glass.
With a crisp clink, their glasses collided. Brittany and William shared a smile, sipping their drinks simultaneously.
One guest asked, “Didn’t Mr. Dillion and Brittany break up? How could they still stand together so harmoniously?”
“They broke up amicably. Brittany even gave all her shares to Dillion Group. With that alone, they wouldn’t turn
against each other. Plus, they’ve known each other for over a decade. A breakup isn’t enough to sever their ties,”
another guest speculated.
Bitter feeling’s and rash actions aren’t the style of business people.
Imperial City was vast, yet small. People’s paths would always cross in the business world. Instead of creating a
hostile environment, it was better to maintain a friendly relationship.
Carla Salter, escorted by her entourage, walked into the party Seeing Brittany and William standing so perfectly
together, her face turned pale.
Ignoring the surprised glances around her, she pushed Brittany away with jealousy, Brittany, first, you seduced my
cousin, and now you’re after my husband?”
Brittany stumbled as Carla’s posse began to taunt her.
“Such a shameless woman. Even married men aren’t safe from her.”
“Gross! How can you be so brazen?”
“Isaac is down on his luck, and she can’t stand being alone. Now she’s trying to seduce Mr. Dillion? She should really
take a good look at herself. She’s been passed around!”
“Shut up!” William growled, a hint of disgust flashing in his eyes.

like that?
Carla looked at him, who was still defending Brittany. Her eyes were filled with hurt. “William, don’t forget that I’m
your wife. You’re flirting with Brittany in front of everyone. Have you considered how I feel?”
William had reached his limit. His lips pressed into a thin line, “Carla, this is someone else’s engagement party.
Don’t cause a scene.”
“What’s wrong with it being an engagement party?” Carla was already feeling unbalanced. Why was it that she
didn’t even have a wedding, yet Stella’s engagement party was such a grand affair?
The more she thought about it, the more it upset her.
She blurted out, “So because it’s an engagement party, you two can flirt? Don’t forget, Brittany is no saint. If it
weren’t for her, my cousin wouldn’t be in this mess! And don’t forget that you wronged me first. I’m your wife now,
and you should treat me right, or I won’t let you off the hook!”
William’s temples throbbed. He glanced at the curious onlookers, feeling as if he was back to the night he was
forced into marriage.
“And how will you let me off the hook?” William asked coldly, “Report me to the police? Accuse me of assault?”
