Chapter 726
Because she would discuss the land for dinner, which was to be jointly developed with the Tueley family.
“Got it.”
Brittany handled the paperwork and then headed to the restaurant with her secretary and the folks from public
relations.
The dinner went smoothly.
Those who had previously gossiped about Isaac were cut off from collaborating with Brittany. Those who remained
in partnership with Brittany dared not mention Isaac again.
They were business people, after all. They wouldn’t risk offending Brittany over some idle gossip.
Brittany had had a bit too much to drink the night before. Today, she wasn’t in the best of states. Wesley Tueley
noticed her discomfort and took several glasses for her.
By the time the meal ended, Wesley and Brittany were the only ones left in the spacious private dining room.
“Did you drink too much last night?” Wesley raised an eyebrow. “Are you celebrating your divorce? Are you that
happy about it?”
Pouring herself a cup of water, Brittany drained it in one gulp. “Yes, I am pretty happy.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWesley shook his head in mock disapproval. “You should get some rest when you get home.”
Brittany remembered that the previous night had been a family feast at the Salter’s. She wasn’t interested in the
Salters’ internal disputes, but she was curious about Leda.
So she asked, “How’s Leda doing recently?”
She still remembered that Daniel had taken a beating from her. She wasn’t going to let that go easily.
“The Salters aren’t willing to let her in. She’s got a long way to go before she’s accepted.” Wesley scoffed.
Brittany acknowledged the information and left.
Once in her car, her secretary turned on the radio.
The news on the radio was about Stella Thorne leaving the show and the crew replacing her with a new leading
lady.
“Ms. Dustin, has Ms. Stella really left the industry?”
With Stella gone, Brittany couldn’t reach her anymore.
Seeing that Brittany didn’t respond, the secretary didn’t ask any more questions.
When Brittany got home, Daniel was already asleep.
She tiptoed back to her room, careful to make as little noise as possible, afraid of waking Daniel up.
After taking a shower, she received a call from the assistant director, hoping that she could make time to visit the
set.
Brittany checked her schedule and agreed.
The new leading lady may not have been as popular as Stella, but she was well-respected for her acting skills and
beauty. She had reportedly started as a stand-in and worked her way up. It was a true grassroots success story.
Before going to the set, Brittany read through the new leading lady’s profile. When she arrived, she greeted the
actress.
All of Stella’s scenes needed to be reshot. The actress was highly polite to Brittany, perhaps out of respect for her
status.
Brittany, her eyes twinkling with a smile, returned the greeting and went to her trailer.
As soon as she sat down, one of the long-term crew members approached her. “Ms. Dustin, I heard that Ms. Joie
has been frequently taking leave recently.”
Joie?
“What is she taking leave for?”
Brittany instinctively thought that Joie was taking leave to get close to Isaac. After all, they had divorced. How could
Joie miss such a golden opportunity?
“She’s been going to Grandeur Capital.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe crew member had no respect for Joie. She had previously tried to get close to Isaac, and then she was setting
her sights on Marcel. “I heard she’s been inquiring about Marcels preferences and even cooking meals for him…”
With a clink, Brittany’s jewel dropped onto the glass table. She was taken aback. “Marcel?”
“Yes. Apparently, she goes there every day, though she hasn’t been successful.”
After the initial shock, Brittany found it entirely typical of Jole.
What Joie loved was not a person but a lifestyle.
Whoever could offer her the lifestyle she desired, she would fall for.
Whether it was Isaac or Marcel, they were merely stepping stones to her.
Brittany’s indifference deflated the crew member’s gossiping mood, and they returned to work.
Sure enough, Joie asked for leave again.
Brittany received a call from her studio and left the set, only to bump into Jole carrying a thermal lunchbox.
“Brittany, what are you doing here at the set?”
S
Joie instinctively hid the lunchbox. For some reason, she didn’t want Brittany to know that she was trying to win over
Marcel.
