Chapter 363
Five in the afternoon, Center Stage Academy Principal’s office.
Most of the people coming in and out of this place were the school bigwigs, with a few students thrown in for good measure Mandy stood at the door, the sun setting, her heart pounding with anxiety and anticipation.
She was here thanks to the sway her family held. She had donated a library to Center Stage Academy when she joined, and there were other collaborations in the pipeline. This time, she was hoping Mr. Austin could hook her up with Jennifer, a big shot in the film and TV industry. Jennifer’s last directed movie had raked in 2.7 billion at the box office, making her a national powerhouse among female directors. Now, she was gearing up for a new film project.
It was a sci-fi blockbuster told from a female perspective. This movie could potentially cause quite a stir in the industry. Many actresses were jostling for the leading role, hoping to boost their fame through the film. But Jennifer was on the hunt for fresh talent for the female lead.
That’s why Mr. Austin brought Mandy.
In the office.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMr. Austin adjusted his glasses. Jennifer, you know why I’m here. What do you think of Mandy?”
Jennifer raised an eyebrow slightly. “I thought you were here for a chat.” Seeing Austin’s awkward expression, Jennifer sighed. “Austin, is this the best acting your drama department can do?”
Austin coughed awkwardly. Mandy was a good actress, but not the best. She was pretty, but being pretty was a dime a dozen in showbiz.
Mandy was more fit for an internet celebrity than an actress. She was pretty but lacked a distinct look. Her features weren’t striking, but she looked good under the filters of short video social media platforms.
“She works hard, despite her privileged background”
Jennifer shook her head. “I remember what Jesse said when I first met you. Acting requires innate charisma and image, and hard work and technique can only account for 40%. I need a natural, charismatic face, not one that’s been changed -through plastic surgery.”
Austin didn’t expect Jennifer’s sharp eye, to notice that Mandy had had plastic surgery. Given Mandy’s family’s partnership with Center Stage Academy, Austin had to compromise. “If not the lead, then a supporting role?”
Jennifer looked at him seriously, but her face remained kind. “Austin, you know I value quality above all. My work cannot be flawed.”
Austin nodded, “Alright, let’s drop this. I’m here to make introductions, so work’s done. Let’s talk about personal stuff.” He stood up. “How about dinner tonight?”
Jennifer replied, “Of course.”
Mandy was anxiously waiting outside when she heard footsteps behind her. She immediately straightened up and walked a few steps forward, resting her hands on the railing.
Allison was coming over. Aaron was fetching the car, but he left his phone. He asked Allison to get it. Allison got to the entrance and saw the girl who had entered with Mr. Austin earlier.

Allison stopped, their eyes met, and she nodded politely. Mandy looked at this girl, whose mask covered most of her face, but from her neck and arms, she could tell this girl had smooth skin and beautiful eyes.
For some reason, she felt this girl was her competition.
Allison knocked on the door.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJennifer’s assistant came to open it. “Oh, Ms. Zimmer.”
Allison said, “Aaron left his phone here. Can I go in and get it? Or could you help me get it?”
The assistant, who had worked with Jennifer for over a decade, smiled. ‘Of course, please come in.”
Allison walked in, and Mandy craned her neck to peek inside. She saw Mr. Austin and Jennifer chatting on the sofa. Sha thought, why were they still talking, and then saw the assistant give her a glance as she closed the door. Mandy realized
she had been rude to peek and stood awkwardly.
Jennifer handed Allison a black phone. “I was going to have my assistant deliver this to Aaron, but you coming for it is
better.”
“Thank you.” Allison took the phone. “Aaron went to fetch the car. I’ll go now”
Jennifer nodded, and once Allison had left, she turned to Austin. “What do you think of this girl?”
