Chapter 1036
Lysander floored the accelerator. His car dashed down the highway like a bullet, hurtling
towards Star Harbor Villa.
Meanwhile, Thalassa drove at a more cautious pace. With four kids and Evelyn in tow, she
didn’t dare to drive too fast.
They arrived at Star Harbor Villa in good time, and what they found there dropped their
jaws.
“Wow, an airplane! A real one!” Dorian’s little mouth gaped in astonishment. He had had
many toy airplanes before but never seen a real one.
“It’s actually real, a real airplane!” Atticus echoed in amazement.
Despite being a whiz on the computer, Atticus had never been up close with an aircraft
before. For him, it was like discovering a new world.
“Oh, so this is an airplane.” Elowen remarked, her interest more subdued. Mechanical
things like planes didn’t fascinate her as much as her brothers.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Is it Daddy? Did Daddy come in the airplane?” Sophia piped up. Her question laden with
the innocent hope that their formidable father was the pilot of this impressive machine.
Thalassa’s heart was shaken upon hearing Sophia’s question. She hadn’t confirmed if
Lysander was the one who had arrived with the airplane, but just the mention of his name
sent waves of dread through her.
It dawned on her that only the exceptionally wealthy or influential could afford such
luxuries as private planes. And Lysander, with his immense wealth and connections, fit the
bill perfectly.
Thalassa had seen Lysander in full force before – descending from a plane with an
entourage of bodyguards, an imposing sight to behold. Only someone like Lysander could
command such presence.
Her anxiety spiked as she scanned the surroundings for the owner of the aircraft.
“I’m in the plane. Bring the kids up; we’re leaving shortly.” A man’s voice came out from
an open window.
Thalassa turned towards the sound and saw Callum’s serene and handsome face.
Relief washed over her as she realized it was Callum, not Lysander, who had come for
them.
She took Elowen and Sophia by the hand and headed towards the plane’s entrance.
“Darlings, Mommy’s taking you away tonight. From now on, we’ll live just live a happy and
peaceful life like before.” she said, trying to sound upbeat.
Elowen suddenly halted. She gripped Thalassa’s hand tightly and stopped her in her
tracks. She looked up with a puzzled expression and asked in her soft, childish voice,
“Mommy, aren’t we taking Daddy with us?”
“Yeah, aren’t we taking Daddy?” Sophia chimed in, equally curious.
The question stung Thalassa like a tiny bite, a poignant reminder of her predicament.
She squatted down to their level and explained gently, “Your daddy is very busy and
doesn’t have time to come with us. And Mommy can only take you guys away.”
“Why?” Sophia asked, her confusion clear.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBefore Thalassa could respond, a spark of understanding lit up Elowen’s eyes. “Oh, I get it!
Daddy and Mommy aren’t married, so they can’t live together. That’s why we have to live
with just one of them.” she reasoned.
Many of her kindergarten friends lived with both their parents because they were married.
Elowen recalled her classmate Dylan Crawley telling her how much his parents loved each
other and him, and how happy they were living together as a family.
“Why could we live with only one of you?” Sophia still didn’t understand.
Elowen explained like an old soul, “Because if Daddy and Mommy aren’t married, they
aren’t a family. They are two separate households. We could only live with one, either
Daddy or with Mommy. We have to choose. It happened to Lily, my friend from
kindergarten, too. Her parents got divorced, and she had to choose.”
“And why aren’t Daddy and Mommy getting married?” Sophia looked up at Thalassa with
innocent, wide eyes, wishing for a simple answer that would bring her family together.
Thalassa’s mouth turned bitter with the taste of sorrow and hard truths. She was about to
speak when Elowen, seeming wise beyond her years, said, “It’s because Daddy and
Mommy don’t love each other. Mommy, why don’t you like Daddy?”
