Chapter 848
Thalassa and Hertha sought shelter in a gazebo by the beach, taking in the view of the rainbow that arched across
the sky after a heavy downpour.
“Thalassa, look, there’s such a grand rainbow in the middle of the sea!” Hertha exclaimed, tugging at Thalassa’s
hand as she pointed at the horizon.
Thalassa lifted her gaze, and indeed, there was a rainbow resembling an arch, breathing life into the otherwise dull,
gray seascape. Her eyes, dry from crying, were transfixed on this spectacle of nature.
“Summer showers are often short–lived, and rainbows always follow the rain,” Hertha said those comforting words
as she turned to look at Thalassa.

the rainbow, a presence that was innately powerful and overwhelming.
Her vision blurred momentarily before focusing on Lysander’s handsome, aloof face. She blinked, thinking her eyes
were playing tricks. But when she looked again, she was still greeted by the tall and imposing figure striding toward
her.
And trailing behind him were four little ones.
“Mommy!”
“Mommy!”
“Mommy!”
“Mommy!”
Their soft childish voices chimed in unison. They had been obediently following Lysander just a moment ago, but
upon seeing Thalassa, the kids broke into a run and scampered towards her. Their short legs were waddling like
little penguins, looking both cute and soothing..
Thalassa’s heart fluttered as she watched. Before she had a chance to stand up, the little ones pounced into her
arms like fledglings.
“Mommy, I was scared of the thunder. Why weren’t you with me?” Elowen buried her face into Thalassa’s chest,
clenching her tiny fists onto Thalassa’s clothes. She nestled her head into Thalassa’s arms and her fluffy hair
squirmed around Thalassa’s skin, resembling a small animal begging for attention.
Thalassa’s heart melted at her soft voice.
Like Thalassa, Elowen was terrified of thunderstorms. Normally, Thalassa would hold Elowen and hide under the
covers until the storm passed.

But today. Thalassa was not by Elowen’s side, and the thought tore at her heart. She pulled Elowen close and
whispered, “Elowen, don’t be scared. The storm has passed.”
It was odd. Thalassa used to be afraid of thunderstorms; her head was exploding from the inside as the thunder
blasted. But today, as she and Hertha witnessed the entire thunderstorm by the sea, she felt less fearful.
Perhaps she had realized that everything seemed trivial in the face of life and death.
Leopold was gone. Today was the day of his funeral. Her heart was heavy with grief, overshadowing everything
else, even her fear of thunderstorms.
Mommy, why didn’t you come with us to that brother’s funeral? Daddy said that he was our big brother,” Dorian
asked. Standing next to Thalassa, his small hand resting on her thigh and his bright eyes gazing at her curiously.
Thalassa’s heart fluttered a little at his question. Not being able to attend Leopold’s funeral was a regret she had to
live with, something he was powerless against.
off guard by Dorian’s question, she was unsure how to respond.
