Chapter 1022
Susan lounged in the hotel’s cozy lobby for a while and still hadn’t received Thalassa’s
message to let her into Lysander’s room. She became impatient and tired of waiting,
especially since she’d indulged in a glass of the drugged wine. Her body was now
radiating heat, and every fiber of her being was yearning for Lysander.
Earlier, she had seen Richard holding Joshua and Thalassa supporting Lysander leaving the
private room. Susan blended into the crowd and watched them enter the elevator. Her
gaze locked onto the numbers climbing until they stopped at the 28th floor.
She noted down in her heart – Lysander was resting on the 28th floor.
Waiting for Thalassa’s text seemed like an eternity, and she was burning with anticipation.
She had gone to great lengths, ensuring Lysander drank the spiked wine. If she missed
this chance, getting close to him again would be an uphill battle.

descended from the elevator, inquiring about the room cards she had delivered.
Richard and Thalassa had headed straight to the 28th floor without collecting their room
cards. A little while later, a staff member came down from the same floor. Samantha
wasn’t naive; she deduced that the waiter must have delivered them the room cards.
All she needed to do was to ask which room the staff had serviced.
Initially, the waiter was reluctant to break the confidentiality of the guests, but Susan
wasn’t one to be deterred. She slipped the staff member a hefty tip, a hundred grand, with
a promise that she only wanted to know the room number – no harm intended.
Who could resist the allure of cash? The waiter surrendered at the sight of the money.
“I delivered two room cards to Mr. Richard, one for 2806 and another for 2809.” the waiter
confessed without hesitation.
“Thank you.” Susan said, her cheeks flushed as if drunk, although the heat radiating from
within her was from the drug in her body. She was fighting hard to contain the warmth
spreading through her body and the itch at the core of her being.
She risked herself to drink the drugged wine just to seize Lysander. She made such a great
effort, and it shall not go in vain.
Knowing the room numbers for Lysander and Joshua, she signaled her assistant, whom she
had brought along, to procure the room cards for these suites.
Her assistant was well-connected; his girlfriend worked at the hotel reception desk.
Getting the room cards was a piece of cake for her.
In no time, Susan had the cards in her hand and was rushing to the 28th floor.

Unsure which room belonged to Lysander, she decided to try her luck. If she inadvertently
entered Joshua’s room, she’d simply say Mr. Richard sent her to check in and then

With this in mind, Susan randomly selected one of the cards – 2809 – and slid it into the
door’s lock.
The room was dimly lit, with only the bedside lamp casting a soft glow. The air was thick
with a chilling silence.
She tiptoed inside, cautious.
“Been gone a long while, ready to face your punishment?” came a deep, commanding
voice from the bed.
At the sound of his voice, Susan’s heartbeat quickened, and her body turned to mush. She
looked towards the bed. Surprise and delight mingled on her face.
Luck was on her side; the door she tried was Lysander’s room.
There he was, lounging on the bed, shoulders propped against the headboard. The
lamplight illuminated his striking features, casting a golden sheen on his chiseled face,
making him look irresistibly handsome.
