Chapter 1056
David arrived and found Lysander sitting on the waiting bench just outside the operating
room. An air of heavy tension encircled him like a storm cloud. Beads of sweat dotted his
taut forehead, and his eyes, usually so controlled, had a reddish tinge, revealing his inner
turmoil.
The operation room door was sealed shut, the red light glowing with the words in
Surgery”, signaling the gravity of the moment without a word needing to be spoken.
Only Thalassa could have this effect on Lysander, stripping him of his usual composure.
leaving him visibly on edge.
David stood before Lysander, delivering his report with due respect, “Mr. Sinclair, I’ve
spoken with Elliott behind bars. Bruce was also part of the kidnap. It was Bruce who took
Thalassa to the hotel room.”
The security footage had been conveniently corrupted, leaving no visual record of
Thalassa’s abduction into the room.
Thus, aside from Thalassa herself, no one knew who had brought her to that hotel room.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLysander had sent David to dig up the truth but never expected the trail to lead to Bruce.
David had barely finished speaking when Lysander’s presence turned even more piercing.
The tension was so thick that it seemed to choke the very air from the room.
David could sense Lysander’s barely restrained fury and carefully continued, “Mr. Sinclair,
Bruce was Ms. Everhart’s father. He must have kidnapped her for a ransom and took her
to the hotel room… He must have been planning to hand her over to someone else, and
that person was Elliott. But then, Mr. Gordon intervened. He drove Elliott away and saved
Ms. Everhart…”
David laid out the scenario, piecing it together from the evidence at hand.
Even though Bruce had taken Thalassa to that hotel room, David couldn’t to believe a
father would harm his daughter.
Could anyone be that monstrous?
Surely, even Bruce must have a shred of conscience left.
As soon as David finished, Lysander’s icy gaze skewered him and caused him to flinch and
lower his head in admission of a possible misstep, “Mr. Sinclair, I’m just speculating. The
real truth, though, I’m afraid only Ms. Everhart knows…”
Had he spoken out of turn?
Lysander’s look was terrifying, as if he were about to strike David down where he stood.
Lysander’s features were sharp as a sculpted ice, and his eyes swirled with a blizzard of

emotions.
Could it be that Thalassa was covering up for Bruce, trying to absolve him of the crime?
What an obedient daughter. Despite being kidnapped by her own father, she was still
protecting him from exposure.
But there had to be a deeper reason, one that involved protecting Callum. Was it Elliott or
Callum that Bruce intended to hand her over to?
Judging by Thalassa’s behavior, it was almost certainly Callum!
Only for the sake of shielding Callum would Thalassa risk so much to hide the truth.
Thinking this, Lysander clenched his teeth. His anger stirred up a cold, restrained storm
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmwithin him, punctuated by a throbbing pain deep inside, like a thorn lodged in his heart,
unnoticed until it shifted, sending sharp stings through his nerves.
“Bruce has been living too comfortably. It’s about time he learned some hard lessons. The
stock market’s been too stable lately; it could use a little shake-up.” Lysander’s voice was
harsh, chilling to the bone.
David instantly understood Lysander’s implication and nodded in agreement, “Right
away!” Over the years, Bruce had swindled substantial amounts from various women, but
all his money was managed by his wife, Lucy, who had a passion and knack for playing the
stock market.
She had made significant wealth from the stock market, and that was why her family
managed to live a lavish life.
If Lysander was planning to destabilize the stock market, it was likely to drive Bruce’s
family to bankruptcy.
As David prepared to leave, the “In Surgery” light went out. He hurriedly alerted Lysander,
“Mr. Sinclair, the OR door is open.”
Lysander’s gaze shot towards the door in an instant.
As the doctor emerged, Lysander stood up anxiously. His towering figure loomed over the
doctor as he asked, “How is she?”
