Chapter 1059
Seeing the doctor arrive, Lysander swiftly stood up and cleared the space beside
Thalassa’s bed for the doctor to check on Thalassa. However, his face betrayed his
irritation as he spoke with a clipped tone, “Took you long enough.”
The doctor, feeling the chill emanating from Lysander’s formidable presence, was
sweating buckets. He nervously stuttered his response, “Mr. Sinclair, I assure you, I will be
here in seconds next time.”
Thalassa, sensing the frosty danger surrounding Lysander that made the doctor almost
cower, took a deep breath and said, “The doctor got here as fast as he could. Your attitude
isn’t exactly helping anyone relax, you know.”
Lysander shot Thalassa a fleeting glance but held back any retort. He simply said to the
doctor, “She’s got a pain in her belly. Please check it out and make it quick.”
Hearing the urgency in Lysander’s voice, Thalassa felt a bitter twist at the corner of her
mouth. There it was, the truth she had anticipated – his concern was for the child she

So, Thalassa, don’t kid yourself into thinking he cares for you, and squash any foolish
hopes right now.
The doctor, now aware of the abdominal pain, also grew anxious. He pulled out his
stethoscope and placed it against her belly to listen intently.
Seeing the doctor’s serious demeanor, Thalassa held her breath and stayed silent so as
not to disturb his concentration.
Lysander remained quiet too. His aura was still commanding and deep.
After a few moments, the doctor asked Thalassa, “Did the pain come on suddenly, or was
there a cause?”
“I choked on some water and coughed a few times. It pulled at my stomach so it hurts.”
Thalassa replied earnestly to the doctor’s inquiry.
The doctor nodded understandingly and advised, “Coughing can indeed shake the
stomach, and since you’re still recovering from a potential miscarriage, it’s expected to
feel uncomfortable. Try to rest as much as possible and minimize coughing.”
“And the baby? How’s the baby doing?” Thalassa’s eyes, clear and anxious, were fixed on
the doctor. The thought that a few coughs might jeopardize the life she was nurturing was
unbearable.
Thalassa adored children. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have chosen to keep the four children.
from an unexpected pregnancy, despite not knowing the father’s identity and having to
give up her studies.

Over the years, she had the children around her. Their endearing and cute antics had
healed her, making her affection for them boundless.
“From what I can tell, everything seems stable. Just rest and eat some bland, easily
digestible food to keep up your strength.” the doctor instructed.
Thalassa visibly relaxed hearing that the baby was safe. Her swollen, dry lips slightly

“You’re welcome. Please take care and rest up.” the doctor said with a smile and left the
room after giving Lysander a respectful nod.
Lysander returned to Thalassa’s bedside. He gaze at her intently. He had seen her concern
for the unborn child, her genuine affection, and her wholehearted protection.
Her maternal love seemed to absolve her of any past mistakes.
Sitting down, Lysander took her hand in his, the dry, rough texture of his palm meeting
hers. Thalassa’s heart skipped a beat at his touch. Her hand instinctively flinched,
intended to withdraw but held back by reason.
She was still connected to an IV drip, and any sudden movement might dislodge the
needle, causing unnecessary stress that could harm the baby.
Although Thalassa didn’t move, Lysander felt her slight tremor the moment he held her
hand. He gently squeezed her hand and comforted her with his deep, resonant voice,
“You’re pregnant. Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“Would you have stopped treating me so harshly if I had?” Thalassa asked, her voice
tinged with hurt and anger.
At her words, she felt Lysander’s grip on her hand tighten ever so slightly.
