Chapter 1151
“I’m fine, really,” Hertha insisted, trying her best to claim her stay in the guest room. If it hadn’t been for
her clothes getting soaked, she wouldn’t be in this predicament. She had put her clothes to the washing
machine, hoping to slip back into them once they were finished and head home.
“Oh, sweetheart, don’t overthink it. Just bunk down in Alaric’s room for the night. I’ve got milk for you
two. Have some and get to bed early. The air conditioning in the living room was cranked up too high
earlier. I don’t want you getting heatstroke.” Beatrice said with a warm smile.
Balancing a glass of milk in each hand, she handed one to Hertha. “Here you go, drink up. It’ll take the
edge off the heat.”
Hertha felt awkward refusing Beatrice’s kindness, especially since she had gone out of her way to bring

Besides, even after a shower, Hertha still felt a bit overheated, probably from the air conditioning being
set too high. The shower had done little to cool her down.
Maybe the milk would help.
“Thanks,” Hertha accepted the milk from Beatrice and drank down.
Seeing her finish, Beatrice’s smile grew even brighter. She took the empty glass and handed Hertha
the other one, “This one’s for Alaric. He’s been complaining about the heat too.”
Hertha had initially planned to leave and avoid Alaric, but Beatrice’s words put her in a tight spot. If she
refused, it might raise suspicions about her and Alaric not being a genuine couple.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Hertha reluctantly took the second glass with a smile,
“Alright, I’ll take it to him.”
“That’s my girl. Now you both get some rest. I’ll close the door for you,” Beatrice said, bearning as she
watched Hertha head back into the room.
Hertha felt like she was walking into the lion’s den, and it was too late for a getaway.
Biting the bullet, she continued the charade with Alaric.
Back at Alaric’s side with a glass of milk, her smile vanished in front of him. She said irritably, “Here,
your grandma’s looking out for you. Drink up, will you?”
She extended her hand, offering him the glass.
Alaric glanced at it and frowned. “What’s this?”
“Milk. I just had a glass, and it really cools me down. It’s quite relieving,” Hertha explained.

Alaric was still feeling an inner fire coursing through him, fighting hard to keep it under control. The last
thing he wanted was to lose it.
Hearing Hertha say the milk could soothe the heat, he didn’t think twice. He took the glass from her
hands and gulped it down.
“Weren’t you going to another room? Why are you back here?” Alaric asked, finding it increasingly
difficult to stay in the same room with her. The sight of her damp and disheveled was too much. He was
fighting the urge to kiss her.
“Your grandma wouldn’t let me. If I insisted on moving to the guest room, she’d definitely start doubting
our relationship,” Hertha explained.
