Chapter 1176
Getting bitten by a dog was no laughing matter.
if that mutt was carrying a virus, Hertha could be in real danger.
Thalassa was seriously worried about Hertha’s safety.
Over the phone, Thalassa’s voice was laced with shock and concern. Hertha just chuckled and said,
“It’s okay, it’s all been taken care of, and they even forked over some cash for the trouble.”
“That dog owner is really something else. Who walks their dog without a leash?” Thalassa was still
fretting for Hertha.
Listening to Thalassa’s disjointed ramblings about the dog, and its owner, Hertha suddenly felt a rush
of happiness.
It was as if the clouds had parted and the sun was shining just for her.
Hertha giggled until she snorted, then asked, “Thalassa, you got home okay by yourself yesterday,
right?”
Hearing Hertha’s laughter through the phone, Thalassa knew her friend was fine and felt a wave of
relief.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhen the conversation shifted to last night’s events, Thalassa hesitated. If she mentioned that Debby
had stalked her, tied her to Leopold’s tombstone, and nearly got her roasted alive, Hertha would
undoubtedly blame herself for leaving first.
Hertha was already downcast from the dog bite; worrying her further just didn’t feel right.
“It was fine. Just make sure you keep an eye on that bite, okay? Get your shots on time and don’t take
it lightly,” Thalassa said.
Hertha’s laughter grew louder, almost uncontrollable. She loved when Thalassa referred to Alaric as a
dog, even comparing him to a rabid one.
“What’s so funny? Did I say something wrong?” Thalassa asked with a mix of curiosity and concern,
puzzled by Hertha’s boisterous laughter.
Tears of mirth ran down Hertha’s face as she wiped her eyes and replied, “No, you didn’t say anything
wrong. It’s just that talking to you is so much fun. You always know what to say to cheer me up.”
“Care to explain what’s got you so amused?” Thalassa asked, still feeling lost.
“You care about me.”
“Of course, I care about you. If I don’t, who will?” Thalassa retorted with feigned
annoyance.

Chapter 1176
“That’s true. Nothing beats having a bestie. Men are nothing,” Hertha said with a
dismissive air.
“You went home with Alaric yesterday; did it go well?” Thalassa asked, concerned.
“Let’s talk about it when we meet up. It’s a long story,” Hertha replied, sidestepping the question.
After a bit more chatting, Hertha hung up the phone.
No sooner had Thalassa ended the call than Lysander walked in, his tall and imposing frame lowering
the room’s temperature with his mere presence.
Thalassa turned to see him and felt compelled to explain even though he hadn’t asked, “That was
Hertha on the phone, just a quick catch-up.”
His aura made her feel as if silence was an admission of guilt, a peculiar sensation indeed.
“Hmm,” Lysander grunted, holding the hospital discharge papers in his hand and saying in his deep,

“Okay, I’ll get right up,” Thalassa quickly responded, throwing off the covers and attempting to get out
of bed.
But Lysander was upon her in an instant, scooping her up before she could protest.
Caught off guard, Thalassa instinctively clung to his neck, his warmth seeping into her palms as his
powerful presence enveloped her
Her face flushed with heat, and she squirmed uncomfortably, protesting, “Put me down; I can walk on
my own.”
Lysander’s deep gaze flickered over her as he said, “Be still. It’ll save you some pain

Did being cradled in his arms equate to being sensible?
His logic was beyond her.
With long strides, Lysander carried Thalassa into the elevator, down to the ground floor, and settled her
into his car. From the hospital room to the car, her feet never touched the ground.
It was almost ironic; he was the one with the injured leg, yet he acted as if she was the one who
couldn’t walk.
