Chapter 1262 Callum’s smile faded, and a shadow seemed to dance across his eyes, casting a solemn hue over his usually gentle features.
Unaware of the shift in his demeanor, Thalassa picked up her fork and said, “Let's eat. I'm starving.” She forked a piece of fish, tasted it, and nodded in approval. “It's good. Not too salty, not too bland. Just perfect.” Noticing Callum hadn't started eating, Thalassa asked politely, “Mr. Gordon, why aren't you eating? Is something wrong with the food?” Callum’s eyes softened, masking the earlier intensity, and he smiled warmly. “No, | was just lost in thought for a moment.” With that, he picked up his fork, deliberately avoiding the fish and opting for other dishes instead.
After dinner, Evelyn mentioned she needed to rest, so Thalassa linked arms with her as they made their way to the hotel elevator. Their rooms were on the 20th floor, so they’d have to ride up.
Callum also decided to retire, and the three of them stepped into the elevator together. Thalassa pressed the button for the 20th floor.
Callum hadn't made a move to select a floor for a while, so Thalassa turned to him, “Mr. Gordon, aren’t you going to press your floor?” “I'm staying on the 20th floor, too.” he replied.

“That seems to be the case.” a They chatted until the elevator halted on the 20th floor. Thalassa and Evelyn walked towards their room, while Callum, leaning on his cane, trailing behind them. “Which room are you in? May | have a look?” he offered.
“This way,” Evelyn guided.
Thalassa swiped her key card and they all entered the room. Callum followed, asking, “Do you mind if | cin and sit for a bit?” “Of course not, cin!” Evelyn welcomed him heartily.
“Take it slow,” Thalassa cautioned, making room for Callum’s cautious gait, afraid he might stumble.

“So, Thalassa is your only daughter?” he inquired about Evelyn's family life.
“Yes, just one daughter. | was young and foolish once, fell for the wrong person,” Evelyn sighed.
“And you, Mr. Gordon, have you ever been in love?” Evelyn asked curiously.
“I was too busy chasing a career when | was younger. Now, pushing thirty, | haven't had a real romance, which is something | regret,” admitted Callum, revealing that he hadn’t even experienced a first love.
“Really? With your qualities and accomplishments, there haven't been any girls who've shown interest in you?” Evelyn was surprised that Callum had never been in a relationship.
“There have been, but my heart wasn't in it. The years best for falling in love were spent abroad, building a career with Leopold. There was just no tfor romance,” Callum explained, his gaze inadvertently drifting towards Thalassa, who was seated on the other bed.

Thalassa sat up straighter, her expression turning serious.
Meeting Callum in Eldoria had felt different to her. His gaze seemed more intense than before.
Was it possible that Callum had really developed feelings for her? No, that couldn’t happen. It would be a frightening prospect.
She didn’t want to be a burden to anyone ever again.
“The right person will calong. You'll build a family and have children of your own,” Thalassa interjected, cutting off the creeping panic within her and reminding Callum.
She was signaling to him not to fall for a woman like her, weighed down by her past and responsibilities.
