Chapter 842
Nursing her thumb, silent tears started to cascade down her cheeks.
“You’re awake.” Lysander’s voice, deep and somber, echoed through the darkness.
Thalassa shivered. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to force back the tears. But the intense sensation of sourness
in her throat was
uncontrollable.
“Why did he fall from the building?” she managed to ask Lysander, her voice trembling.
The room fell silent, the air filled with a chilling stillness.
Just as Thalassa thought she wouldn’t get an answer, Lysander spoke up, “No one expected it. He jumped down
himself…”
No one expected him to do this, and hence, nobody was prepared to stop him.

Why?
Thalassa’s heart clenched, her body curling tighter.
Lysander sat at the edge of the bed, watching her. She was facing away from him, her body curled up into a ball.
She didn’t respond to
his words. But under the moonlight, he could see the glitter of tears in her eyes.
He knew that she was in pain. She never forgot about Leopold, so his death brought her immense sorrow.
Lysander’s handsome face was taut. He mused, and didn’t say a word.
After a long silence, Thalassa found the courage to voice her worries, “How is he now?”
“He is in the morgue and undergoing a post–mortem makeover,” Lysander’s voice was solemn while answering her
question.
Thalassa’s heart clenched again, her thumb almost bitten through by her own teeth.
“You should get up and eat something. You’ve been asleep for six hours,” Lysander said as he switched on the light.
The bright, white light instantly illuminated the whole room.
Thalassa shut her eyes against the glaring light. Before she could adjust to the sudden brightness, Lysander
scooped her up from the bed.
Thalassa’s entire body was soft, limp and powerless. She was picked up by Lysander and helped to sit at the head of
the bed.
A tray had already been prepared on the bedside table. On it was a bowl of soup and an almond pudding, which
were both mild dishes. Lysander tucked away the stray hair from her forehead, revealing her pale face; her lips
were devoid of color.
Lysander’s deep eyes flickered as he scooped up soup and brought it to her lips.
Thalassa turned away, not wanting to eat.
She had no appetite. Her taste buds were numb from the chilling sorrow. She didn’t have the heart to eat anything.

Thalassa felt a wave of inner pain. She flinched and looked away from him.
I don’t want to eat, she said without any energy.
“As four kids‘ mother, you’re not alone. Are you sure you want to be so self–willed?” Lysander’s voice was hoarse,

Tears welled up in Thalassa’s melancholic eyes.
She leaned on her arms for support, sitting up a bit straighter. She turned to look at Lysander, “Are the kids asleep?
She was a mother of four Her kids needed her. If she fell, her kids would be so heartbroken and pitiful.
Everything she’d done up until now was for the purpose of being with her kids.
Lysanders stern expression softened a little when she asked about the kids.
At least She still cared and still worried about the kids.
