Chapter 949
Richard accompanied Charlotte to the interview because she had confided in him about consistently failing her
performance reviews at the station for several months. The word from the top was clear, if she didn’t pass this
month’s review, even with the Ravensong Group’s backing, the station would no longer accommodate her
presence.
The station doesn’t pay for dead weight.
And this interview was a pivotal part of Charlotte’s assessment.
If she tanked it, she’d be out on her ear.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCharlotte had a colorful employment history. She had been an internet sensation, live-streaming and getting into
verbal brawls with her fans, which eventually led to a lifetime ban.
She had tried her hand at luxury retail, but that ended abruptly when she got into a scuffle with a customer and was
fired.
She even dabbled in acting but couldn’t stomach the grind and dropped out halfway through.
The TV gig was a job her family had pulled strings to secure. The station had given her a chance as a favor to the
Ravensong family.
After months of failing assessments, this was her last shot.
Charlotte didn’t want to lose this job, hence she brought Richard along to make a favorable impression and rectify
any potential interview missteps.
Richard, being a bright spark, found corporate promo interviews a piece of cake.
Charlotte, having recognized her responsibility, stifled her anger and turned her focus back to the task at hand,
facing Thalassa. “Alright, let’s cut the chit-chat and dive in,” Charlotte said, begrudgingly.
Thalassa gestured gracefully, “Whenever you’re ready.”
Charlotte glared at Thalassa, still simmering with resentment. She then opened her backpack and pulled out a
video camera. After adjusting the angle to ensure both she and Thalassa would be in the frame, she settled back
into her seat.
Richard stood up and moved to the camera, assuming the role of cameraman. This way, he wouldn’t be caught on
video.
It dawned on Charlotte that having Richard in the shot would be another strike against her review. Broadcasting the

background would be a blunder too big to overlook.
Gratefully, Charlotte shot Richard a thankful look, and he responded with an ‘okay’ signal, indicating that she could
start. Thalassa watched the exchange between them silently, sensing the subtle dynamic of their relationship.
Had Richard mentioned Charlotte was an old childhood friend?
In other words, they were childhood sweethearts?
Caught in her musings, Thalassa was brought back to the present when Charlotte posed a question about the
Crawley Group. Thalassa had done her homework well in advance. She knew the Crawley Group inside out and
responded with ease.
Charlotte’s questions were well-prepared and incisive, but they were beyond her usual scope-Richard must have
helped her refine them.
