"My Spirit Companion? Can you explain it a bit more?" Leon was confused. He had an idea of what Mornica meant, but he wanted to be sure.

'It is as you suspect. My life will be tied to yours, and I will be dependent on you. I speak with honesty, and do not wish to trick you, Skeleton.' Mornica nodded and untangled her upper body. Her majestic silvery chitin glinted under the bright glare of the Mana Crystals.

After a bit of thought, Leon finally shrugged and accepted to help it. After all, it was not like he had much of a choice in the matter, the millipede queen only felt the need to tell him out of courtesy.

'Step forward and enter the Obsidian Pool.' Mornica told him. 'You will receive your Race Advancement prompts, but do not begin the advancements yet. I will add some High Grade Mana Crystals to the pool to boost its effectiveness.'

Leon did as she said and waddled to the center of the pitch black pool. The water reached up to his neck by the time he was in its center, and he could see Mornica moving about as it broke off chunks of blue crystals from the walls and threw them into the Obsidian Pool.

After throwing in a seemingly random amount, it finally stopped moving. 'Go ahead.'

[A catalyst for your Race Advancement has been found. Do you want to begin the advancement?]

---

The bar at the bottom of his status page had changed once again, and was prompting him to begin his Race Advancement, as a catalyst had been found.

'Yes.' Leon have the mental confirmation before a feeling of stuffy heat washed over him. His body flashed in a dark light as the waters of the Obsidian Pool was stirred into a frenzy over the changes that were happening within it. Leon lost all sensations of his body as he began to sink into the water. He only managed to keep conscious track of what was happening until he was submerged beneath the swirling water. After that, his mind was simply blank and he lost track of time and anything that happened to him.

An unknown amount of time later...

[Race Advancement process has been completed.]

The screen blinked into existence before Leon's face and woke him up from his trance.

"Ha~!" Leon gasped and heaved for breath that he didn't know he needed. His chest felt stuffed and his mind moved sluggishly as he tried to process what had happened.

'Welcome back.' Mornica's ever smooth voice drifted through his mind and he noticed movement at the right corner of his vision. He turned over and saw that the giant, white millipede had moved over to the bank of the pool, and was looking down at Leon with something akin to curiosity. 'I can feel the strength you radiate. You are only still just a bit weaker than me, but that will soon change.'

Leon held up his bony hands and flexed them before his face as he tried to get a feel for his new strength. He cocked back his fist and punched forward, and while there was no sudden compression of air or anything drastic, he could still feel that his strength had undergone a significant change.

"...Wow..." Leon was left speechless upon seeing his stats. His stats had almost doubled, and he was sure that his strength did not just increase in a linear fashion, but instead rose exponentially with each increase. That meant he was at the very least twice as strong as he was before his Race Advancement.

His gaze focused on his race after eyeing his stats for a bit more time. He had formerly been an Obsidian Skeleton Soldier, but now, after his Race Advancement, he had changed to become an Obsidian Magic Warrior.

A feeling of elation began to bloom within his hollow chest as he gazed upon the changes. He was eager to see what he could do with his new race's abilities.

Next, he went to his Skills. He had gained a Skill called <Spell Weaver> after his advancement, and the name was quite self explanatory. It would surely give him the ability to cast spells, and depending on the specifics, he would be able to cast them faster, or at least be able to make some changes to them so that he could make them a better fit for his fighting style. Perhaps in the future, he might be able to create his own spells with the help of this Skill.

Finally, his Titles. He had gained one Title after his Race Advancement, and that was the <Slayer of Ghosts> Title. The perks that this Title gave his was quite straightforward, but it was one that had immense potential in the long run. The Title, <Slayer of Ghosts>, gave him a ten percent increase in his Intelligence stat, and his Intelligence directly translated to his overall amount of Mana, and also his reaction time and thinking ability. His Intelligence greatly assisted his ability to make quick and accurate deductions in the midst of a heated battle, or make a life saving movement in a nick of time.

The use of the Intelligence stat was applicable in many different fields aside battle, and Leon was glad that he was able to get his hands on it in the first place.

All in all, he was very happy and more than satisfied with what he had gotten from this moment. However, there was another urgent matter that he needed to attend to at the moment.

Leon dismissed his status page and turned to face the millipede queen that had settled at the bank of the partially dried up pool as she waited for him to process the changes that he had gone through.
