Regardless of whether Cayden was actually Moore or not, Avery was going to attend the reunion.
She was not attending it because of her classmates or Moore; she was attending it because of Hollie,
the teacher who once cared greatly for her.
She would have ignored the reunion if not for the news about Hollie. Since she had found out that
Hollie would be there, there was no way she was going to miss the event.
It was noon at the Moore residence.
Jeffrey had been tailing Cayden ever since Cayden stepped into the house. “You're not that young
anymore. It's time for you to marry someone. Tell me, which kind of woman do you like?”
Cayden remained silent as he went upstairs.
Jeffrey followed him up. As he climbed the stairs with the help of his walking cane, he gritted his teeth
and cursed inwardly, What a heartless grandson I have! He doesn't know about the concept of caring
for his elders.
“A little plump? A little fairer?” Jeffrey asked, thinking that his grandson liked women like those.
Cayden entered his bedroom. As he took off his suit jacket, he loosened his tie and threw it aside.
Jeffrey continued, “I heard that Mr. Saunders' daughter has come. Why didn't you bring her home to let
me have a look at her? If not for Mr. Saunders calling me himself, I wouldn't have known anything
about it!”
“Why should I bring her home to let you have a look at her? Who does she think she is?” came
Cayden's voice along with the sound of running water.
Jeffrey's brows raised. He immediately realized that his grandson was completely uninterested in the
daughter of the Saunders family.
Thus, he turned and went down the stairs.
Kendrick had just bitten into the peach he was holding when Jeffrey suddenly jabbed him on the back
with his walking cane.
Instantly, he whipped his head around and fumed. “Grandpa, why are you poking me?”
“Come here. Come over and sit down beside me.” Jeffrey waved to him with a solemn look.

the older man and asked, “What happened, Grandpa?”
Jeffrey sucked in a breath before saying, “Help me keep an eye on your brother and find out which
woman he has been interacting with in private recently.”
“Keep an eye on my brother?” Kendrick nearly let out a shriek at that. “Doesn't that mean I have to
stalk him? Do I have a death wish, or are you dying and about to drag me to your grave with you?”
The duo chatted away while Cayden showered.
Then, when Cayden came down the stairs, Jeffrey fell silent.
Kendrick studied his brother closely. He, too, was curious as to who could possibly have his cold-
hearted brother stay out all night all the time.
Cayden walked over to the dining table and grabbed the newspaper. He then sat down and began
reading it.
Ten minutes later, Lily came down the stairs as well, and Allie returned home.
It was time for lunch for the Moores.
Right then, Cayden's phone rang.
With his eyes still fixed on the newspaper, he picked up the call and asked, “What's the matter?”
Xavier was having lunch outside. He had been with his boss for many years and had been working
extremely hard the entire time. As always, Xavier was going through his routine.
Just as he sat down and opened his memo, he spotted an activity that he needed to make preparations
for.
“Mr. Moore, it's your high school teacher's birthday next weekend. Will you be attending it this year? If
not, I'll make arrangements for you to head to Anglandur that day,” Xavier queried.
As Xavier had expected, Cayden was not planning to attend it.
Cayden had only been to the event once. After finding out what went on at the birthday celebration, he
became bored. Everyone at the event was going to be buttering each other up.
Thus, every year after that, he would ask his men to prepare a gift for his teacher and congratulate her
on that day himself through a call.
Hollie was just an ordinary teacher to him, but when he had to leave the town where he was studying
high school back then, he had asked her to help take care of someone for him.
Indeed, Hollie had taken great care of that person.
That was something he would feel grateful for for the rest of his life.
After Cayden ended Xavier's call, he called Hollie.
Once the call went through, Cayden repeated the same things he said the years before—about how he
was busy and could not attend her birthday celebration.
Hollie said to him, “You should head back to your work. Men should prioritize their careers.”
After exchanging a few polite sentences with each other and before Hollie ended the call, Hollie
uttered, “By the way, there's something I'm feeling happy about. Maybe you don't know about this yet,
but the girl who was bullied by her classmates back then—Avery Rumpley—do you still remember her?
My daughter encountered her today and invited her to join the reunion next weekend. Avery seems to
be doing fine, and that's partially thanks to you.”
Cayden's hand shuddered as if the idea of Avery joining the reunion was something he had never
thought about. A beat later, he said, “I'm glad to hear that she's doing fine.”
“You're a good person, and you'll have a good life because of that,” was all Hollie said before ending
the call.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey had been sneakily watching his grandson. After Cayden ended the call, he seemed
to turn gloomy and frustrated. But he was fine three minutes ago!
“It's lunchtime. Come and eat,” Jeffrey then reminded his grandson.
However, it was as if Cayden had not heard him. The younger man frowned and picked up his phone
before scrolling to Xavier's contact number. Just as he called his assistant, he immediately tapped on
the red button.
Cayden was stunned by that split second when he was about to call Xavier to get him to cancel his trip
to Anglandur.
She's just a woman. Why should I care about her that much? Moreover, she's someone who never

speaks her mind and schemes non-stop.
Nephele spent an entire morning at Avery's house before heading back.
Avery accompanied her to the entrance of the subway station.
She only went home after watching Nephele disappear from her line of sight.
Zayne's mother, Isabella, was standing by the entrance of the residential area as she scanned her
surroundings. Evidently, she was looking for someone.
Avery was already by the entrance, and she had no choice but to walk past Isabella.
After all, she could not possibly hide from the other woman forever.
Isabella's gaze then landed on Avery as rage exploded from her chest. She had been ringing Avery's
doorbell earlier, but no one answered the door. Thus, she went downstairs to wait for Avery's
appearance.
She did not believe that Avery could stay in her house forever.
“Mrs. Richter,” Avery politely greeted.
Smack!
Isabella slapped Avery before viciously glaring at her. “You have no right to greet me! Your words are
poison, and you're killing me by greeting me!”
Avery held her aching cheek for a long while before finally lifting her head. “Please speak what's on
your mind now. If you have nothing else to say, I'm going to take my leave.”
“What's with that attitude of yours?”
Isabella's eyes narrowed.
“How I speak depends on who I'm speaking to,” Avery said to her in a resentful tone before turning to
head further into the residential area.
Avery still kept a tinge of respect in her interactions with Isabella, but a tinge was all she could give the
older woman.
Isabella was livid at Avery's attitude, and she launched herself toward the younger woman.
After rushing into the residential area, she then grabbed Avery's collar and began hitting her. “You
horrendous minx! Tell me! How has my son treated you? Tell me honestly! He came to catch you red-
handed in the act of cheating, but you had the cops arrest him instead. The man you're cheating with is
an almighty man, right? He's making this place a lawless land!”
