Xavier approached her with his face obscured by the light, his tall and imposing figure exuding a regal presence. He
enfolded Cecelia in his arms, assuming the role of a chivalrous gentleman who was determined to keep her safe.
He shot Hans and Phoebe a frosty look before his gaze landed on Cecelia.
A strange expression briefly crossed Xavier's face before it vanished as soon as he saw the anger and distress in
her eyes.
Phoebe's piercing gaze swept over Xavier, taking in every detail of the scene as he held Cecelia protectively in his
arms.
This man is wearing a limited edition Ermenegildo Zegna suit, and he has a Piaget watch on his wrist. He looks
rich... Phoebe's heart skipped a beat at that realization. Nevertheless, she refused to admit that Cecelia had found
a wealthy husband, even though the evidence seemed to point to the fact.
Immediately, she spoke with a haughty tone. “I can't believe the woman my husband left behind managed to find
herself a sugar daddy. Well done, Cecelia. You've certainly made progress, haven't you?”
Phoebe refused to believe that Hans had never slept with Cecelia, as they had dated for five whole years.
Hans was good in bed, so she believed he had honed his skills by sleeping with Cecelia countless times.
Thus, Phoebe bore a strong resentment toward Cecelia.
Cecelia wanted nothing more than to sew Phoebe's mouth shut to stop the latter from spouting nonsense.
She had always been hot-tempered, which meant she would never let anyone get away with insulting her.
At once, she retorted, “Phoebe Sandsby, how shameless can you be? Hans isn't even worthy to serve me. You're
the only one who likes someone as useless as him. I supported him for five years, but he wasn't even grateful for
my financial support. If I were to keep a dog, it would accompany me and relieve my boredom. Hans, on the other
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇthand, betrayed me. An ungrateful b*stard like him deserves to be with a weirdo like you. You two are basically a
match made in heaven! I will not pray for you to become more sensible and respectful, but I do wish that you will
be kind and not pass on your bad traits to your child.”
Phoebe trembled in anger, her rolls of fat jiggling as a result. “H-Hey! You b*tch!”
She had no idea Cecelia had become someone who could not be trifled with.
From what she remembered, Cecelia was an unfashionable and shy young lady who would hide in a corner to cry
whenever she bullied the latter. She would never have guessed that Cecelia would become sharp-tongued upon
running into each other a few years later!
Xavier couldn't help but be entertained as Cecelia expressed her displeasure with the ungrateful couple without
resorting to vulgar language but still managing to make a meaningful impact. If it had been appropriate, he would
have applauded her acerbic wit.
“Hans, beat that b*tch up! How dare she curse our baby? I want her dead!” Phoebe gave Hans a forceful kick and a
pointed look.
Hans gave Cecelia a hesitant look but dared not take a step closer.
Phoebe gave him a tight slap. “You're useless! Do you still have feelings for her? If you dare not hit her, I'll file for
divorce right away and tell my dad to kick you out tonight!”
Hans panicked at her words. He immediately took action and charged forward to teach Cecelia a lesson like a dog
that had received orders from its master.
Cecelia raised her arms hastily to protect her belly as a helpless look appeared in her eyes. She felt a sharp pang of
pain in her heart.
F*ck this! I can't believe Hans is going to beat me up for real.
To everyone's surprise, Xavier grabbed Hans' wrist and crushed it with great force before the latter could lay a hand
on Cecelia.
“Ow!” Hans let out a pained yelp as he felt a crushing pressure on his wrist. His voice quavered as he pleaded, “S-
Sir, let's talk t-this out.”
Fear and heartache surged through Phoebe as she watched her husband suffer in agony. She wanted to help him,
but she was too scared to take action. Summoning her courage, she pointed an accusing finger at Xavier and
yelled, “What did you do to my husband? Let him go! Do you know who my dad is? He is—”
Xavier gave her a look full of contempt and cut in, “I couldn't care less about your father's status. You and your
husband are reprehensible for harassing a pregnant woman. Scram right now!”
He tossed Hans away as though the latter were nothing more than mere garbage. He then growled fiercely at
Hans, “If I ever see you trying to intimidate a woman again, I won't let you off easily!”
“You! Just you wait. Hubby, let's go. We'll have plenty of chances to teach this impudent couple a lesson in the
future!” Phoebe helped Hans out and fled the scene hastily under the salespeople's mocking gazes.
“Ms. Zuckerberg, are you all right?” Xavier went over to Cecelia, sympathy crossing his face.
No wonder she hates interacting with men. It's understandable that she would be severely traumatized after being
dumped by a scoundrel like Hans. Any woman would react the same if they were in her shoes.
“I'm fine. Thanks for your help, Mr. Dartsley. Goodbye.” Having bade goodbye to him, Cecelia spun on her heels and
left, her face devoid of expression.
The moment she turned away, her nonchalant facade crumbled, and she was left in a vulnerable state.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNever in her wildest dreams did she imagine that her shameful past, which she tried her best to conceal, would one
day be laid bare to the public.
It was particularly mortifying for her as Xavier, her “colleague,” had been a witness to the whole incident.
Xavier observed Cecelia's clumsy gait due to her advanced pregnancy and blurted out, “Cecelia, are you sure you
don't need a ride back home? I'd be more than happy to take you.”
Despite Xavier's offer, Cecelia didn't bother turning around as she replied, “No, thank you. I drove here by myself,
so I don't require your assistance.”
Xavier shook his head helplessly and watched as she ambled away.
Why is she so stubborn? She isn't cute at all. Can't she rely on me just like an ordinary woman?
The following morning, Cayden planned to meet with a mysterious figure after breakfast.
He was afraid that Avery would be bored at home alone. There was a peach garden in full blossom near where he
was heading, so he decided to bring her there.
The journey was quite long. It took them three hours by car to finally arrive at their destination.
Cayden parked his car in the parking lot and headed to the hotel they agreed to meet at.
The mysterious guest ran into some trouble on the way here and would only arrive after an hour. Thus, he brought
Avery to Peach Blossom Acres nearby the hotel to see the peach blossoms in full bloom.
Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the mountains, Peach Blossom Acres was a tranquil oasis. This privately owned
area was not open to the public and only welcomed selected guests. As a result, the atmosphere was serene and
tranquil, providing a much-needed reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
The vibrant peach blossoms in full bloom offer a sharp contrast to the tall, imposing trees in the nearby mountains.
The flower petals danced gracefully in the gentle breeze, fluttering and twirling in the air before gracefully raining
down like a blanket of snow.
Avery and Cayden held hands as they strolled under the raining peach blossoms. Curious, she asked, “Who is the
friend you're going to meet later?”
Who could it be? He came all the way here just to welcome that friend.
