Chapter 504 Avery In The Hospital
Armand gazed intently at Avery, who was on the hospital bed. At that moment, her injured and swollen leg was
covered in a thick cast, and she looked terrible. In his eyes, however, she looked like a goddess reading quietly on
the bed.
Avery avoided Armand's passionate gaze and cleared her throat. In an unhappy tone, she reminded him once
again, “Armand, I told you I have a fiancé, and I'm getting married to him soon. By then, I'll personally invite you to
the wedding. Therefore, please stop saying things that can easily lead to a misunderstanding. I'm really not
interested in you. Furthermore, my husband treats me very well. He would come to the hospital to keep me
company every night. It's just that he's been busy with work recently. He'll come here as soon as he finishes his
work.”
Armand was saddened because Avery shunned him. However, he walked up to her and took a seat in the chair next
to the bed instead of giving up.
After that, he did a magic trick, and a rose suddenly appeared in his hand. “This is for you, my dear belle. I wish you
a speedy recovery and hope that you'll bloom as beautifully as this rose once again.”
“Thank you,” Avery uttered. Yet, she didn't accept the rose from him. Instead, she frowned and said, “Please take
the rose away. I'm allergic to pollen. Besides, I don't like roses.”
Avery wasn't entertaining Armand at all, but he didn't seem to mind.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtUpon hearing that she was allergic to pollen, he threw the rose into the trash can nearby and apologized, “Rum, I'm
so sorry. I didn't know you were allergic to pollen. I'll keep that in mind.”
Armand rubbed his nose apologetically and saw a porcelain vase nearby.
There was a bouquet of beautiful and fragrant lilies in the vase.
Seeing that, Armand pointed at the lilies and nodded as if the realization had just dawned upon him. “Oh! I see that
you're allergic to roses but not lilies, Rum. I'll remember that. I'll bring you lilies the next time I come. Do you like
lilies?”
Avery stared at the bouquet of lilies and flashed a faint smile. “Those lilies are from my husband, and I love them.
To be frank, I don't like any flowers in particular. I only love those lilies because they're from my husband.”
Avery's words were hinting at something, and she knew a smart and gentle man like Armand would be able to read
between the lines.
True enough, Armand was upset by those words. “Rum, could you please stop telling me how much you love that
man? You're making me jealous. I don't get it. What's so good about him? Why are you so in love with him? He
doesn't even care about you! How could he work when you've just been in a car accident? Shouldn't he put his work
aside and stay with you? He's not even here now...”
Avery closed the reading material in her hands and uttered in an elegant tone, “Well, that's love. As long as I'm in
love with him, his looks, wealth, and attitude don't matter.”
Armand looked at her dazedly and struggled to come up with a response. Moments later, he grumbled, “Rum, why
do you always have a prejudice against me? You don't know me, and you don't know my good qualities as a man.
I'm sure you'll change your mind about me after spending some time with me.”
Avery couldn't help but smile helplessly when she saw the tall and handsome Armand complaining like a child.
“Armand, I know you're a great man, but that's not how it works when it comes to love, right? Even if you were to
have all the good qualities a man could possibly have, I still wouldn't fall for you. That's because I'm only interested
in Cayden. Cayden and I have known each other since we were little, and we've been into each other ever since. He
has occupied a special spot in my heart for over a decade now, and our feelings for each other will only get
stronger over time. Eventually, we'll become one, and not even death can separate us.”
Avery had to admit the fact that Armand was a good-looking man. Besides, he had a body figure comparable to a
supermodel. I'm sure other women will throw themselves at him before he even confesses his feelings. I'm not one
of them, though. When I love a man, I love him with all my heart. Now, my heart is fully occupied by Cayden, and
there's no space for another man.
The atmosphere became awkward once again.
Although Armand knew Avery was in love with someone else, he couldn't stop himself from falling for her. After all,
she was the first Aplothian girl he had ever fallen for.
In order to diffuse the awkwardness, Armand started talking to her about the collaboration between the two
companies. However, he noticed how absent-minded she was, and she was also constantly checking her watch.
Knowing that she wanted him to leave, he had no choice but to rise to his feet begrudgingly. Before he left, he said,

I'm willing to compete with him till the end!”
Avery was on the verge of cursing out loud as she watched Armand leave. Did he not understand a word I said?
...
Meanwhile, in the living room of the Lambert residence, Claire, who was dressed in casual wear, was serving
George a bowl of traditional medicine. “Dad, it's time to take your medicine.”
George was taking all sorts of modern medicines because he wasn't feeling well. Claire was worried about the side
effects of modern medicines, so she used her connections to get in contact with a retired but reputable traditional
medicine practitioner to give George something to condition his body.
George caught a whiff of the pungent smell of the medicine and frowned deeply. In fact, he looked as though he
would rather die than take the medicine.
However, he wanted to show his appreciation to his daughter-in-law, so he took the bowl of medicine and downed it
in one go before putting it back on the table.
Claire took the empty bowl and was about to return to the kitchen. Suddenly, George uttered, “Claire, when I was
playing chess with Jeffrey the other day, he told me Avery got into a car accident, and I think she was injured badly.
She's a talented architect. Let's get her to design our house next time. If you're free, perhaps you should visit her at
the hospital on my behalf.”
Upon hearing that, Claire froze, and a complicated look appeared on her face.
