Chapter 589 A Confused Avery

Nicole's heels clicked against the floor as she made her way into Felix's office and shut the door behind her.

Her movements were graceful as she sauntered over to his desk. Slowly, she removed her sunglasses as Felix

gaped at her in surprise.

“Ms. Lambert, how may I assist you?” Felix asked as he straightened his back and put on his glasses.

With a smile, Nicole retrieved a check for ten million from her pink handbag and slid it toward him.

“I require your assistance with something, Dr. Sollo,” she said.

Felix's heart sank as a sense of foreboding filled him despite her sweet smile. “What can I do for you, Ms.

Lambert?” he asked, knowing that her request would not be a pleasant one.

As expected, his heart went cold upon hearing her words.

“I need you to manipulate the DNA report you conducted for Evangeline so that it matches my parents' DNA. It

should be an easy task for you, right? You know what I mean, Dr. Sollo. I heard that you just purchased a new

mansion and could use some extra funds. This check is a small gift from me to you.”

Felix abruptly stood up, causing his glasses to slide down his nose.

He chided righteously, “Ms. Lambert, this is against my professional ethics. I will do no such thing. You know very

well who your father is. The professional career that I have built up over the years will be ruined if he finds out that

I rigged the report. Please take your cheque away, Ms. Lambert. I will not go against my conscience to accept this

black money even if I need extra funds.”

Nicole's lips curved into a wicked smile as she stared at Felix. “How bold of you to say that, Felix. I hope you don't

regret it later,” she taunted. With deliberate intent, she walked past his desk and stood before him, her fingers

already working to tear her blouse apart.

Her v-neck off-shoulder sleeveless top revealed part of her cleavage, and as she ripped her top apart, little was left

to the imagination.

“W-What are you trying to do?” Felix tried to stand up as he watched on warily, but Nicole forced him back into his

seat.

Despite his efforts, he was no match for her due to his advancing age.

Straddling him, she started to unbutton his dress shirt, her hands moving with swift purpose, revealing his small flat

chest.

“You're shameless!” Felix shouted as anger and humiliation surged through him.

He forcefully pulled Nicole's hands away from him in a desperate attempt to throw her off of him.

Nicole began to rub her chest against Felix's, her actions growing increasingly aggressive. She leaned in and

whispered into his ear, “Felix, I know you're concerned about your future and what could happen if this gets out.

But if you don't do what I say, I'll make sure your reputation is ruined right here and now. What do you think will

happen if I shout for help and tell everyone you're trying to rape me?”

“You're threatening me,” Felix said shakily. He tensed up, his mind racing.

Nicole grinned, poking at his chest lazily. “How could you say that? I'm paying you good money right now, Felix.

Don't be so boring. You have two options, take the money and do as I say, or have your reputation destroyed.

You're a smart man. You know what to do.”

He couldn't believe he was being threatened by a woman younger than his daughter.

How is it that everyone describes the daughter of Mr. Lambert to be well-educated and graceful? She's so

manipulative and cruel. How disgusting!

Felix's face twitched, and he shook with anger.

Despite his disgust, Felix ultimately gave in as he thought of his future, his daughter who he was about to send

abroad, and his other commitments.

In the end, his desires overcame his rationale. With shaky hands, he reached for the check. “Okay. But you have to

promise to keep this a secret,” he said, feeling defeated.

Nicole removed herself from Felix's lap and slowly straightened her top to appear more presentable. “You're a

smart man, Dr. Sollo. We're in this together now, so don't worry. Why would I betray you for no reason?”

Felix's eyes squeezed shut as he struggled to contain his fury. The bulging veins on his forehead were a clear sign

that he was seething with rage.

Nicole sneered, grabbed her handbag, and made her way toward the door.

However, just as she was about to leave, she turned around, removed her butterfly hair clip, and pointed it at Felix.

“Oh, I almost forgot to mention, Dr. Sollo. This butterfly hair clip of mine is actually a mini video camera that has

recorded our entire conversation just now. So don't you dare try to play games with me! If you don't give me what I

want, I guarantee your reputation will be destroyed. You won't be able to find work in the medical industry ever

again.”

Felix turned pale at her words.

With that, Nicole left with a satisfied smirk.

She had made it clear to Felix what the consequences would be if he dared to defy her. She believed that he

wouldn't dare betray her, as she preferred her adoptive parents to think of Evangeline as their biological daughter

rather than Avery who she despised.

Meanwhile, at Trident Group, the design department welcomed a new employee on Monday, Evangeline.

Trevor personally made sure that Evangeline was settled in the design department, as Xavier had requested.

Evangeline officially became part of the design department after a welcoming ceremony was held for her.

Avery was also delighted to have Evangeline on board.

After all, she wouldn't have been able to clear her name so easily if it wasn't for Evangeline's testimony when she

was falsely accused of cheating during the exam.

However, she couldn't help but notice how Evangeline's appearance had transformed in just a few days.

While she had looked stylish during the exam, her clothes seemed cheap, possibly bought online. But now, she was

dressed head-to-toe in expensive clothing, even sporting diamond earrings. Avery thought she looked like a real

socialite now.

Despite her initial surprise at Evangeline's sudden transformation, Avery was not one to judge a book by its cover.

She was open to befriending anyone with good character.

Turning to Evangeline, who was seated beside her, Avery greeted her enthusiastically. “Welcome to the design

department, Evangeline. I'm so happy we're colleagues now and that you're seated next to me. If you need any

help in the future, don't hesitate to ask.”

“Sure, of course.” Evangeline nodded enthusiastically as she surveyed the design department.

What a fantastic work environment. Trident Group really is impressive. This place is so much better than my

previous company.

She never expected to land such an incredible job simply by testifying for Avery in front of the examiner.
