Chapter 594 Sweetheart Please Be Humble

Once the opening act ended, the pair of charismatic hosts walked up onto the stage and presented their opening

speech, “Dear esteemed leaders and guests, we are honored to have you here with us today. Welcome to the

award ceremony of International Elementary School...”

The moment the opening speech ended, the award ceremony began.

Firstly, the students who won third and second prizes were awarded by their homeroom teachers and vice-principal.

All of the students, who were being called onto the stage, were very excited.

International Elementary School was the most well-known school in Ackleton. The students who studied there hailed

from rich and powerful families.

International Elementary School had better teaching resources, and even the teachers were more capable than the

other schools. The students were bright as well. One could only imagine how hard it would be to stand out among

the rest and be awarded in a school like that.

All the prizewinners were thrilled, and their parents were equally proud of their offspring.

Avery waited patiently for Rory to go onto the stage to receive her award. That was Rory's first award.

Once again, the female host spoke, “Next, we will give out the prizes for the first prize winners. If your name has

been called, please come up to the stage. Rory Moore from first grade, class six...”

Rory, who had already changed into her school uniform, walked onto the stage.

She stood in the middle of the stage. That was her first time standing there alone with the hosts and looking down

at the audience. She felt a little frightened. However, when she saw her mother, who was sitting in the third row,

waving at her, Rory began to relax.

The male host then said, “Rory Moore's artwork, titled 'The Mermaid in the Maze,' has obtained first place in the art

competition. Congratulations!”

Rory's artwork was carried up onto the stage by the female host.

Through the scanner, her artwork was being broadcasted onto the huge screen. The audience could see everything

clearly.

The mermaid in the ocean looked very real, and the underwater palace also looked very majestic. It was as though

the audience had been brought into the mysterious underwater world. As for the humans who were bombing the

sea, they were equally well depicted.

Her artwork brought about the applause from the crowd.

“Rory's drawing portrays the conflict between humans and nature. Humans have been exploiting the ocean and

causing large-scale pollution to the seas. The beautiful mermaid is hiding in the underwater palace, but her

yearning for the ocean is evident. Even though she is in hiding, she cannot escape the noise pollution caused by

human beings. All she can do is cover her ears. The sadness in her is clearly portrayed in her single drop of tears.

The use of bright colors and the bold statement depicted in Rory's artwork give us an astounding visual effect. Next,

we shall invite Mrs. Lambert to present Rory with her prize...”

Claire, who was dressed in a white gown, rose to her feet and walked onto the stage.

The audience could not help but secretly praise her for her well-maintained looks and elegant aura. Yet, there was

an affinity about her that made people like her.

Claire bent down to take the trophy from the young host and handed it to Rory. “Congratulations on winning first

place in the art competition. I wish you all the best and hope you can present us with better artwork in the future.”

“Thank you. I will continue to work harder,” said Rory sweetly while beaming at Claire.

The girl's adorable smile melted Claire's heart.

She could not help bending down to pat the girl on the head.

This little girl really reminds me of myself when I was young.

Once the prize-giving for Rory was over, Claire returned to her seat, but she still looked distracted.

That child is so adorable and likable. If my biological daughter was married and had a child, the child will be around

her age.

Claire laughed at herself when her train of thought ended there.

I'm getting more forgetful as I get older. I have just found Evangeline and don't even have time to ask about her

love life. Yet, I'm thinking about my future granddaughter.

I must be going crazy.

“Now, for the most exciting part, Zachary Moore of third grade, class one has been awarded six awards this time

around. He has gotten first prize in the technological innovation competition, Ustranasion competition, spacecraft

model competition, and more... Let's get Zachary to come onto the stage to receive his awards...”

The host's voice rang out and jolted Claire back to her senses.

When Claire looked up, she saw a cool-looking boy walking up the stage. He had his hands in his pockets and was

chewing gum in his mouth.

In fact, he did resemble Rory quite a bit.

Rory was adorable, but that boy was handsome.

Claire stared at him and realized that the first-prize winners were not only bright and intelligent, but they were also

very good-looking.

She then recalled that his family name was Moore too. Perhaps, he is Rory's brother?

All of a sudden, Claire recalled Nicole telling her that Cayden had a pair of gorgeous twins when they were dating.

Claire loved children and wanted Nicole to bring the children home. Before that could happen, however, Nicole and

Cayden broke up. As such, Claire did not get a chance to meet the twins.

At that moment, Claire felt very excited. She had forgotten that their father was the one who had hurt her

daughter. All she could think about was the two outstanding children.

Since Zachary received so many awards, the female host placed the microphone in front of him and asked,

“Zachary, you have gotten the most awards today. Can you share with us some of your learning experiences?”

It took Zachary a long while before he replied solemnly, “I have nothing to share.”

“Then why are you always the best?” The host refused to give up.

Zachary answered, “Maybe, the other students are too dumb.”

The host was speechless, and so was Avery.

Avery immediately covered her face with her hands. Zachary, even though you are smarter than other people, can

you please be a little more humble?

The audience was shell-shocked by what the bratty boy had said. However, when they thought of the awards that

he had won, they had no choice but to accept his attitude. After all, those awards were the most prestigious in the

entire country. Even money or power could not get a student those awards.

Claire, on the other hand, found Zachary hilarious. She was not offended by his speech. In fact, she found him

adorable!

If I have a grandson like him, I will definitely spoil him rotten.
