Chapter 630 Spanking

Unable to contain her excitement, Avery walked toward Cayden, a hint of disbelief in her eyes. “Why are you here?

Aren't you busy?”

Sometimes, Avery thought that this man was too mysterious. Why does he appear immediately every time

something happens to me? He's like my guardian angel.

Although she was happy to see him, upon further reflection, she could not shake off a vague sense of unease.

She did not want to be a burden to him and hinder his path to success.

Cayden, however, could not be bothered with small talk. He pulled her firmly into his arms. Then, he gently pinned

her against an old sycamore tree that grew along the hospital road.

His movements were unyielding but always conscious of protecting her belly.

Avery looked up at him in astonishment. His handsome face was creased with anger.

Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at him guiltily.

After a while, she boldly asked, “Cayden, what's wrong with you today? Did something go wrong with the

negotiations?”

Cayden gripped her slender hand tightly as his eyes stared into hers intensely. He asked her in a husky voice, “I

heard you played the hero today?”

“Uh, well, it's a long story...”

Avery's hand ached under his powerful grip, but she did not dare to cry out. She understood that this man was in

the throes of rage.

“Today, at the fair, a man grabbed Mrs. Lambert and slashed her neck. The situation was getting out of hand, so I

exchanged a few sharp words with him. Anyway, it wasn't a big deal. Look at me! I'm perfectly fine! I...”

Before she could even finish her sentence, she felt a burning pain radiating from her buttocks.

“You...” Avery's eyes widened in surprise. She had not expected him to spank her in public.

Cayden sternly reprimanded her, “Do you think you're invincible? You recklessly went into such a dangerous

situation. What if the man hurt you and the baby? Yes, I know you were worried about Mrs. Lambert, but you can't

disregard your own safety!”

When he received that phone call from Jake, telling him that Avery was confronting a man armed with a dagger, his

heart had raced with fear.

Without hesitation, he had immediately abandoned the ongoing negotiations for a multi-billion deal and sped back

to Ackleton.

He had lost track of how many red lights he had run on his way there.

After seeing with his own eyes that she was safe and sound, the tension in his heart eased just a bit.

“After all, Mrs. Lambert is my biological mother. I can't bear to see her get hurt. If she were to be stabbed by that

man or suffer any injuries, I would probably be guilt-ridden for the rest of my life. The situation was so dire! There

was no time for me to think, and yet, you hit me without waiting for my explanation...”

Cayden wanted to further reprimand Avery, but seeing her tearful eyes, he could only helplessly shake his head.

He gently caressed her long hair. His tone finally softened as he said, “You're always thinking of others, but you

should not gamble with your own safety. Avery, no matter what, you must ensure your own safety first before

worrying about others, understand?”

Avery nodded and said, “I understand. Anyway, I felt safe to act because Jake was there. I know he's a special

forces soldier and is very skilled. If it were just me alone, I would definitely think twice before acting. After all, I

know there's also our baby to think about, but still, without even asking for clarity, you hit me...” she grumbled, still

fussing over his earlier act of spanking her.

Cayden gently tapped her forehead, frowning slightly. “The reason I spanked you this time was just to teach you a

lesson and to remind you not to act impulsively when you encounter such situations again. If you promise to

behave, I'll take you out for a delicious meal tonight.”

Avery who had been rather miffed about being spanked, brightened up immediately at the mention of food. “Deal!”

Cayden smiled. He knew that the trick to coax Avery was simple.

All he had to do was be a little gentler with her or tempt her with delicious food, and he would always manage to

make her happy.

Avery and Cayden returned to the Moore residence. As soon as they entered, they found themselves in the midst of

a heated argument.

“You good-for-nothing rascal, I can't believe what you've done! If it wasn't for that girl making a fuss over here, I

wouldn't have known that you were doing such a foolish thing! Kendrick, you must do right by that girl!” Jeffrey's

voice could be heard shouting angrily.

Cayden's brows furrowed. He stepped into the room with Avery following close behind.

As soon as they stepped into the living room, they saw Kendrick kneeling on the ground. Jeffrey wielded his cane,

ruthlessly striking him across his back. Yet, Kendrick did not dare to resist. He merely bowed his head and

swallowed the pain.

Allie was leisurely savoring a cup of tea and appeared to be completely uninvolved in the chaos. The smug look on

her face made it clear that she was delighted in watching the drama unfold from the sidelines.

On the sofa, Lily was comforting a beautiful woman. Her belly was swollen with child.

The woman looked quite young.

She was strikingly beautiful and dressed in her expensive dress, she exuded an extraordinary aura.

Upon seeing Cayden and Avery walk in, the woman gave them a slight smile. There was no hint of embarrassment

or nervousness in her demeanor. She seemed completely at ease.

Lily lovingly patted the woman's hand. Her head was filled with thoughts of her grandchild growing in the woman's

belly. Her eyes were sparkling with the joy of a new baby.

She cheerfully said to Jeffrey, “Dad, things have already come to this point. No matter how hard you hit Kendrick, it

won't change anything. Since Rachel is already pregnant, we might as well get them married. Rachel is the

daughter of the deputy governor. It would be good for our family if a woman of her status marries Kendrick. We

must do the honorable thing. We must hold a wedding for them that will be the envy of everyone!”

Kendrick was far from pleased when he heard his mother's suggestion. He immediately retorted, “Grandpa, Mom, I

have no intention of marrying this obstinate and willful woman. I'm not even sure if the child she's carrying is mine.

How can you make such a hasty decision about my future?”

Jeffrey smacked him with his cane again. “You've all become out of control. Getting a woman pregnant out of

wedlock! Your brother did it, and now you! The reputation of our family has been completely ruined by you two

brothers! Kendrick, you scoundrel, you got a girl pregnant, and yet, you still refuse to do the honorable thing! Are

you trying to give me a heart attack?”
