Chapter 99: Wolf King
While Fang Yu and Wang Hao were having their own matters to solve in the Solstice Kingdom, Fang Lin was in a quite boring situation.
Once the boy was satisfied on explaining things to Fang Lin, he left the room and closed the door. Fang Lin could hear the unmistakable sound of locking magic being applied on the door. The bratty boy clearly does not want Fang Lin to be able to get out.
Even if the door was not locked, Fang Lin could still not get out because his body was put into paralysis again by the bratty boy.
Fang Lin stayed on this state for 5 hours. It was at this time that Fang Yu arrived at the Solstice Kingdom. Fang Lin smiled upon knowing that the other stone fragment was with Ling Tian. Now, he just needed to figure out what to do tomorrow in order to dupe the boy.
But while he was ruminating on what to do, he heard a ripping sound inside the carriage.
“Rip!!!!”
A claw suddenly appeared from the roof of Fang Lin’s room, plunging towards the floor!
The claw was black, with some green pustules pulsating on it. Once passing through the roof, the claw went down near Fang Lin’s table. The floor beside Fang Lin’s table was easily split apart by the claw.
The impact by the claw attack had effectively split the boy’s carriage into two. The part of the carriage with Fang Lin on it had been blasted away towards the maintenance carriage. As for the part of the carriage with the boy and his old man, it was sent spiraling towards the security carriage.
Because Fang Lin was still paralyzed, he was not able to brace himself when his carriage part collided with the maintenance carriage.
“Crash!”
Fang Lin catapulted forward, shooting straight towards the window of the maintenance carriage. He landed beside the sleeping Mina.
Mina shrieked upon feeling someone invade her personal space. She fell into the floor as she looked at Fang Lin, who was curled awkwardly on her bed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBloodspear on the other hand, was not awoken by Mina’s scream, but by the malevolent aura that he felt. He stood up as he tensed his body. A blood-red spear suddenly appeared on his hands, as he positioned his body to attack.
“Fang Lin! What the hell happened! Why did you get thrown here?” Because Fang Lin was paralyzed again, he was not able to speak at all. He can only groan miserably.
“Sigh.” Bloodspear and Mina sighed upon seeing the pitiful appearance of Fang Lin. Their faces however, turned pale when they heard a ghastly howl echoing across the forest.
“Awooo!!!!!!”
A shockwave blasted upon Fang Lin’s carriage, effectively ripping it apart. The three of them who were inside the carriage unceremoniously landed on the ground. Mina rubbed her back as she experienced a bad fall.
She looked around her, and what she saw made her scuttle behind Bloodspear.
All three carriages for the expedition in the Forest of Death had been blasted and ripped apart. Multitudes of objects lay scattered on the ground, with weapons and food supply being the majority.
As for the mercenary guards, they were still fine. They were huddled together with the boy and the old man at the other end of the clearing. Mina wanted to go to them, but something stood in the middle of the clearing.
This ‘something’ prevented Mina from going to the mercenary guards. If she wanted to go there, she had to get past this ‘something’.
But upon seeing what this ‘something’ was, Mina’s smile was replaced by a despairing one.
What she saw was a 20-meter tall monstrous wolf. Its fangs were dripping with corrosive saliva that sizzled the ground. Its fur was black and thick, with some streaks of blood on it. Its muscular frame was hunched as it loomed towards the boy and the old man.
With the beastly wolf facing towards the other group, its back was the one facing Mina’s group. She and Bloodspear used this as a chance to retreat, with Bloodspear trying to drag Fang Lin with him.
But suddenly, Fang Lin started to groan as he flopped his body around. It was as if he did not want to be brought away from the huge wolf.
“What the hell is your problem Fang Lin? That wolf is at the Fifth Stage! Just one breath of it can easily kill us!” Bloodspear muttered as he let go of Fang Lin.
At that time, Fang Lin managed to regain his ability to speak. He then said, “There is still something I have to do here. You two can leave me behind already. Go, run!”
“Ahh!” Bloodspear looked frustrated as he gripped his hair tightly. He then said in an exasperated voice, “Since I am your guide, I have the responsibility to protect you. We mercenaries are all brothers!”
“I am a girl...... but I am..... your brother too. I will......stay too.” Mina seemed to abandon her cowardly persona as she looked determined.
Upon seeing that he was not abandoned, Fang Lin felt an indescribable emotion on his heart. But he had not time to dwell on it now as he stared at the Fifth Stage Wolf that assaulted them.
From what Fang Lin could see, the wolf seemed to be focused entirely on the boy. No, not on the boy, but on what the boy held on his left hand.
It was the stone fragment!
“So it was like that huh.” Fang Lin realized that the wolf must have sensed the aura of the stone fragment. With it being an important fragment of a treasure, Fang Lin knew that the wolf must have been tempted to obtain the stone fragment for itself.
“Awoo!!!!”
Even without the knowledge of animal language, Fang Lin knew that the wolf was demanding for the stone fragment.
“Wait!” The old man who was with the bratty boy spoke up.
Upon hearing this, the wolf raised his claws, ready to strike down on the two of them.
Fang Lin was both happy and sad at that time. Happy, because the bratty boy will most certainly be killed by the wolf. Sad, because with the wolf possessing the stone fragment, he could only focus on Ling Tian’s stone fragment.
But suddenly, the old man with the boy spread his hands wide. Dark miasma appeared from it. This miasma trailed on the ground as it covered the five mercenary guards. Seconds passed, and cries of pain and agony could be heard within the miasma.
“No! Please stop this!”
“It hurts!!!”
“Ahhh!!!!!”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFang Lin’s eyes were horror-struck as he stared at the grisly scene in front of him.
All the healthy-looking mercenary guards turned into dark mushes of flesh within mere seconds. Once they had turned into this form, the old man waved his hands.
The dark mounds of flesh flew up, heading straight towards the wolf’s mouth. The wolf instinctively opened its mouth and swallowed the flesh given to him.
“AWOOO!!!!”
“Oh c**p.” Judging from the tone of its voice, Fang Lin could deduce that the wolf seems to be fairly satisfied.
While the wolf was tilting its neck happily, the old man rubbed his hands as he said,
“Great Wolf King, the Sovereign of this Forest, please accept our humble offerings for you.”
“Awooo!” The wolf nodded imperiously as it heard what the old man said. It then stood straight, as if it was asking the old man,
“So, what do you want from me?”
“We actually plan on gifting this stone fragment to you, oh Wolf King. But those three people behind you had schemed to steal this from us! I implore you to exact justice upon them! If not for your timely assistance, this stone fragment could have been brought away by them already!”
“AWWOOOOOO!!!” The wolf king snarled as it looked towards Fang Lin, Bloodspear and Mina. Its killing intent locked on the three of them as it slowly raised it right foot. The bratty boy smiled, seeing the reversal in situation.
Bloodspear tightened the hold on his spear. He seemed to have no fear as he stared back at the wolf. Mina stood trembling behind him as she tried her best not to scream. Some moments later, and Fang Lin could see the lower part of Mina’s robes turn wet.
The wolf then howled savagely as it brought down its claws crashing towards Fang Lin’s group!
Before their moment of death, Fang Lin chose to not say any cheesy goodbye lines. He just stated the obvious.
“Mina! Did you just wet yourself?”
“Boom!!!”
