Chapter 683 An emergency call from the hospital
action
At this moment, Fu Hua was happy, but that was a different case with Jia Li who looked grumpy all of a sudden.
"I know!" She said in an annoyed tone and went back to reading her books.
Fu Hua fixed his gaze on her and asked, "If you know, why are you not drinking the water?"
"I just finished eating a bowl of fruit salad, do you know how many liters of water it contains?" Jia Li asked.
She was right, as the fruits she had eaten, had a high percentage of water, so she was not thirsty.
This was not a good time to take revenge, so Fu Hua let her be, but he didn't forget to remind her in a kind manner, "If you don't drink the required quantity of water now, you will have to make it double in the next hour."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I know, I just have to play with my system." Jia Li replied with her eyes on her book. By playing with her body system, Fu Hua understood an hour later.
Jia Li took some dry fruits, cookies, and biscuits to stimulate her thirst. Because of the high percentage of water in the fruits she took, she didn't feel thirsty even after an hour later and her stomach felt heavy. And in other to feel thirsty, she had to take dry foods if not, she wouldn't be able to meet up with the quantity of water to take daily.
Fu Hua applauded her for her smartness, before going to the study to work.
At the restaurant, Xiulan went to Fu Ling's table after gathering enough confidence.
When she got to his table, she greeted him politely before requesting his order. Fu Ling found her voice and scent familiar and had to put his phone away from his sight for a moment just to catch her looks.
Seeing that his intuition was right, Fu Ling was surprised and that was seen for a fleeting second, which Xiulan managed to catch. After working for him for a few years she could interpret his mood and tell his emotions, but it was not enough to tell what he was thinking.
Masking his emotions, Fu Ling placed his order and went back to pressing his phone, which made Xiulan confused. She thought he had asked about her the last time he was there because he wanted to see her, but it looks like she is mistaken, since he didn't say anything to her apart from placing her order.
Xiulan was a bit disappointed with his actions. She was expecting to hear what he had to say to her, sobs he could use that opportunity to test his mood, to see if she could speak to him about lending her some money to make up the one she had as she needed 50% for her mother's surgery.
His mood would determine how she would approach him because he was her only hope, and she couldn't give up asking him for the money no matter what.
Coming back to reality with her thoughts, Xiulan hurried to the kitchen to place Fu Ling's order. Down minutes later, she went to serve the food with another female waiter.
The entire time they were serving the food, Fu Ling didn't raise his head, as he was busy trying with his phone. The only time he raised his head, was when he replied to compliments from the other female waited made.
"Sir, I like your shoes." The female waiter said with a bright smile.
"Thanks." Fu Ling replied and went back to typing with his phone.
Xiulan was pained with him ignoring her. But she still had to comfort herself as she left with the tray.
Going back to her workstation, Xiulan fixed her gaze on Fu Ling. It was as if she was now monitoring him. The only time she took her eyes off him, was when she went to get someone's order.
While keeping an eye on him, she was thinking of ways to approach him. She couldn't blame him for his attitude towards her, because she also ignored him.
When she went to take his order, she had greeted him professionally and asked for his order directly, pretending not to know him, so he must have felt that she didn't want to have anything to do with him, and that was why she acted that way, so he ignored her as well.
Xiulan cursed herself in her head with regret at her actions.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm'Idiot, you should have greeted him warmly or asked how he was doing! He was your ex-boss!' Xiulan thought to herself as she pulled on her way.
"Xiulan, is everything okay?" A male co-worker asked with a curious gaze.
Xiulan faked a smile and shook her head in a negative affirmation. Just when she glanced over at Fu Ling's table and didn't see him, and began to panic, a female co-worker rushed over with a panicked gaze directed at her.
The co-worker said to her in an urgent tone, "Xiulan, there is an important call you need to take from the hospital!"
Immediately Xiulan heard that the call was from the hospital, her mind went to her sick mother, and she immediately ran inside."
The workers were not allowed to make use of their phones while working, hence Xiulan could only be reached through her workplace landline since her phone was switched off.
Xiulan's face didn't look good after the call and when her co-workers asked about it, she revealed the problem to them. It turned out that her mother fainted and was rushed to the ER. She was asked to come over to pay the 50% bill in other for the operation to commence.
Her co-workers pitied her and wanted to comfort her, but there was no time as Xiulan had already rushed to their locker room to change out of her work uniform.
Her eyes were teary as she picked up her bag, and when she was about to enter the manager's office to take the remaining hours off due to the emergency, a co-worker approached and told her that he would take care of it.
The most important thing was for her to get to the hospital as quickly as possible.
