Theresa was having a meltdown, on the verge of a full-blown freak-out, pushing against Brandon with her little hands, pleading,

"HandsUnkie, my mommy is crying, | want my mommy."

By the end of her plea, she was sobbing, wrestling to get down and find her mom.

Brandon held her as she squirmed, his gaze fixed on Sophia, who was crying a river, his eyes filled with a storm of emotions.

Right then, the airport inteblared, calling passengers to board. It was Sophia's flight.

The waiting area buzzed as travelers scrambled to their feet, heading for the gate.

Susan glanced at the boarding gate, then back at Brandon, not daring to make a move.

Brandon was still eyeing Sophia.

"l won't stop you if you want to leave, but there's no way I'm letting you take Theresa," he said firmly.

Susan turned to Sophia, anxiety written all over her face.

stand have to snatch a child? Do you have any idea what she went through to bring Theresa into this world?"

Sophia pulled at her again, sniffled, and stood up, still hiccuping with sobs.

Theresa saw this and cried even harder, struggling more fiercely, insisting to Brandon, "I want my mommy."

Brandon softened his voice for Theresa, "Sweetie, go back to the car with Kent and Susan for a bit, okay? | will bring mommy to

you soon, alright?"

After saying this, he looked at Kent, "Kent, you and Ms. Cooper take Theresa back to the car."

"Got it."

Kent quickly stepped forward, trying to take Theresa.

Theresa, crying, wouldn't let him, desperate to get down to her mom.

Sophia, with a complicated look in her eyes, walked over to Brandon, then reached out for Theresa, giving her a smile through the

tears.

Theresa immediately clambered from Brandon to Sophia, crying and mimicking the way Sophia usually comforted her, "Mommy,

don't cry. I'm here."

Sophia's voice caught in her throat, and she nearly burst into tears again.

She said nothing, just hugged Theresa tightly, soothing her after a while, whispering in her ear, "I'm okay, don't worry, Theresa."

Brandon turned his head away, not looking at Sophia, his jaw clenched tight, his Adam's apple bobbing with suppressed emotion.

The boarding announcement continued to urge passengers toward the gate.

Sophia's grip on Theresa relaxed a little. Just as she made a move, Brandon's hand shot out instinctively, grabbing Sophia's arm.

The sudden move made everyone look at him, confused.

Realizing he might have overreacted, Brandon slightly turned away and called out to Kent with a cold voice, "Kent."

Kent quickly stepped forward, reaching out to take Theresa but was wary of Sophia's reaction, looking at her imploringly.

Sophia gave him a glance, then softly told Theresa, "Sweetie, go to the car with Susan and Kent, okay? Mommy will cto find

you in a little while, alright?"

Theresa hesitated but obediently nodded, "Then mommy cfindquickly."

Sophia nodded back, stroked her head to comfort her, and then handed her to Susan.

"You and Grace take Theresa to the car," Sophia said softly.

Susan glanced at the boarding queue already moving, wanting to ask but not daring to.

Sophia shook her head slightly, her throat tight, emotions threatening to spill over again.

Susan didn't push any further, patted her shoulder reassuringly, "We'll wait for you in the car then."

Sophia nodded.

Susan, along with Kent and Grace, quickly took Theresa away.

Suddenly, it was just Sophia and Brandon left at the scene.

They stood apart, neither looking at the other.

"Let's go to the car."
