Brandon, on the phone, seemed to sense her gaze and slowly turned around.
Their eyes met in the air. Sophia flashed him a smile and pointed to the neatly organized documents beside her, whispering, “All
the files are sorted out.”
Brandon nodded slightly and said into the phone, “Got it, I'll have someone take over soon,” then hung up.
By the the pocketed his phone, he was already heading towards the desk.
Sophia pointed to another stack of documents she wasn't sure about keeping and explained, “I put these aside because | wasn’t
sure if we should keep them or not. You should have a look.”
“Okay.”
Brandon responded, quickly glanced over the “unsure” pile she had separated, and with high efficiency, he relegated them to the
reject pile.
While going through the categorized files, he handed Sophia sother documents to deal with.
She didn’t hesitate, taking the files and got busy on her side.
Brandon swiftly reviewed and approved the files Sophia had sorted. When he set down his pen, he looked up at Sophia.

She was deeply engrossed in the paperwork he had given her, her slightly bent head looking soft and serene under the light.
She always carried this unobtrusive, quietly elegant charm, never one for squabbles. Brandon found himself spacing out as he
watched her.
When Sophia finally closed the last file and looked up, her eyes accidentally crashed into Brandon's.
He was looking at her, yet not quite. His eyes were as deep as the ocean, and seemingly filled with memories, yet not.
Almost at the moment their gazes locked, his deep eyes stirred, slowly focusing. But Brandon didn’t speak; just silently watched
her.
The two sat very close at the sdesk, so close they could hear each other's breathing with the slightest movement.
Sophia wanted to look away, but his magnetic eyes held her captive.
Brandon's head slowly leaned in towards her. In the blend of their breaths, Brandon leaned down and kissed her.
The contact of their lips snapped Sophia back to reality, and she instinctively tried to push Brandon away but found herself with
her head firmly held in place by his hand, the pressure of his lips intensifying.
As Sophia instinctively stood up, Brandon also rose, supporting the back of her head with one hand, trapping her between the chair
and his chest, deepening the kiss.
At deprivation of oxygen, Sophia's mind grew hazy, her hands clutching at Brandon's clothes in a drowning person’s grasp at a
lifeline, further fueling his ardor.
He pushed her deeper against the desk, his grip on her head tightening uncontrollably, his kisses growing more intense and
desperate.
As the temperature in the room rose, their loss of control seemed only natural, and in the end, neither wanted to think or stop,
choosing to follow their instincts.
It had been a long tsince they'd touched each other, and the passion ignited by their kiss quickly spread like wildfire.
Sophia got almost no sleep that night. Whether it was because it had been so long, or something else, Brandon was both tender
and fiercely insatiable throughout the night.
As dawn approached, Sophia finally fell into an exhausted sleep. Amidst her cloud-like drifting consciousness, she faintly
remembered Brandon holding her tight, his hoarse voice slowly saying in her ear, “Sophia, stay with me.”
She couldn't remember if she had agreed or not. Sophia slept deeply.

After she fell asleep, Brandon turned off her alarm clock. Without the disturbance of the alarm, Sophia slept until past one in the
afternoon.
When she awoke, there was a note on the bedside table, “I've taken the day off for you, rest well. Eat something when you wake
up; there's food in the kitchen.”
The note was in Brandon's handwriting. There was no signature, but Sophia recognized his script.
His writing was attractive, bold and fluid, yet decisive in its execution.
Sophia stared at the note for a long while before getting up to freshen up.
The house was empty; Theresa had already been taken out by Grace. There was a pot of freshly cooked food, still warm on the
dining table.
Sophia looked at the table full of dishes in silence for a while before picking up her phone and texting Brandon, “Thank you.”
