Sophia gave him a quick glance, saw his cool, indifferent expression, and finally nodded, "Yeah."
She fell silent, and just sat there quietly in the car, her gaze drifting to the scenery outside the window.
Brandon couldn't help but steal a glance at her.
"I," He paused for a moment, then softened his voice to speak, "I'm not exactly thrilled hearing you talk about other guys,
especially when he's your so-called 'Mr. Perfect."
Sophia looked at him, surprised.
Brandon's handsface was slightly tense, and he didn't look at her.
"I've been forcing myself to accept that you're not coming back, and | don't want to focus on any 'what-ifs' between you and
someone else. Just savea little piece of your heart, will you?"
His voice was calm, and he drove seriously, without glancing her way.
Sophia couldn't help but look at him.
The winter sunset filtered through the car window, casting a glow on his stoic face.
He seemed serious when he said those words, and whether it was the sunset playing tricks, his seriousness seemed to carry a
touch of desolation and a sense of giving up.
When she saw him like this, her heart ached a bit.
She didn't speak, her hands clasped and intertwined on her lap.

As usual, they stopped by the grocery store on their way home.
Shopping, cooking, just like any other average family.
They weren't exactly short on housekeepers or nutritionists at home, but this was the only part of their lives that resembled a
normal family of three, so Brandon didn't want to outsource it to anyone else.
When they got home, Theresa, as always, jumped in to help in the kitchen.
Ever since Theresa had cooked a meal together with her parents that one time, she seemed to really enjoy that family vibe and
loved helping Brandon and Sophia in the kitchen, even if her help was pretty limited.
Both Brandon and Sophia didn't set too many limits for her. As long as she was safe, they let her try things out.
On parenting, the two of them were surprisingly on the spage.
During cooking, Brandon took the lead, while Sophia and Theresa assisted as usual.
A hearty dinner was quickly prepared by the three of them.
Throughout the busy process, Theresa's little face was full of excitement and anticipation.
Several times while picking vegetables, Sophia stopped to watch Theresa and Brandon.
Their interactions were warm and loving.
It was only during these times that Brandon would shed his usual aloof and untouchable demeanor, becoming a lot more down-to-
earth.
There was a sparkle in Theresa's eyes too.
Sophia knew it was tfor her to try and make peace with herself.
Actually, having a teammate to raise a child with wasn't all that bad. It could make things a lot easier for her too.
Love was really just a tiny, insignificant part of life.
After dinner, Sophia and Brandon, as usual, took Theresa to the park to play.
Theresa wanted to go on the amusement rides, so Brandon accompanied her.
Sophia received a call midway and didn't join them.
When she finished the call and returned, the father-daughter duo was still on a gentle version of a drop tower ride, slowly lifting
into the air. It was quite high up, and Sophia could only vaguely make out their silhouettes.
The ride would take another ten minutes or so to cdown, and Sophia, waiting below, felt a bit bored. It was cold and windy
outside, and seeing a small shop not too far away, she headed over.
"Welcome!" The young, pretty salesgirl greeted her with a smile as she walked in.
Sophia looked around and realized it was a DIY craft shop, showcasing all sorts of handmade items that were quite delicate and
fashionable, each with its own theme. The main thseemed to be romance and reconciliation, obviously targeting couples.
Seeing Sophia staring at the wall full of creations, the salesgirl smiled and asked, "Hello, ma'am, can | help you with anything? We
can make anything you want here."
Sophia shook her head, feeling a bit awkward, and turned to leave. But as she walked, her steps slowed, and she turned back
