The bead that the little girl had handed to the SuprLord emitted an even more intense light at a unique frequency, like a lonely lighthouse standing in the vast sea. Others may not know it, but it was a definite signal to one person. It was also the first step toward a miracle.
-Grr... Ahhh!!!
As its head flew off, Reaper stumbled. But then it eventually regained its balance and trudged over to slowly pick up its fallen head. With an eerie nonchalance, it reattached its head and chillingly asked,
-You wench... Are you betraying our will?
"Betrayal?" the girl spoke coldly while a dark energy sword materialized in her hand.
The woman wielding such a sword was Isildi, one of the most powerful Princesses of the Abyss. From her entire body flowed an energy like the Abyss itself, but it was clearer and brighter.
"You are the reason I am...." She trailed off, gritting her teeth almost violently.
[By the honor of Cheon Geum, I assure you. The world is filled with many lives entwined together. There may be difficult times, but there are also many truly happy moments. Just as it was destined that we would meet.]
[Master! These potatoes are delicious! Let's eat together!]
[Ha ha ha, you want a name? Then take on the character for delight, ‘Hee,’ to signify a world filled with joy. How about Yun Hee-Ryeong? It uses the surnof the lady who brought you here. Ha, what a beautiful name!]
[You're doing it wrong! Be more humble!]
[Master! Why won’t you get angry?! Those people were talking nonsense about you without knowing anything!]
[Believing that one can manipulate the thoughts of others is arrogance, the very definition of hubris.]
[Master. Today is…]
[Yes. It's my wife's death anniversary, and also the day you and I met, Hee-Ryeong. Can you promise me? Though I don't know what sort of story you carry with you, will you also love this world and continue to smile just as you are now, like this Master has forgiven your innocent mistakes and loved you? And will you cherish this world that we live in together, if only a little?]
The meaning behind these words was vague back then, but it becclear after her memories awakened.
The great disaster that struck Heavenly Central Plains… The notorious person who killed two of the Five Stars and even Cheon Geum’s wife…
It was her.
Isildi had commenced a slaughter as soon as she arrived in the Heavenly Central Plains. In the process, she had taken the life of Cheon Geum’s wife and killed, without any effort, two of the Five Stars that cafter her. But on her way to this world, Isildi, who was not on good terms with the tempestuous Sleesia, fell into her trap and crossed the unstable dimension, leading to the leaking and loss of her powers and memories.
She had cto this world to destroy it, but her strength vanished because of the aftereffects of the power loss.
Isildi caught Cheon Geum’s eye while fleeing back then. He had not realized that Hee-Ryeong was actually Isildi, believing she was merely a victim caught in the chaos. It was only later that he realized her true identity.
Compared to the life of Isildi, the human life of Hee-Ryeong was incredibly short. Yet ironically, the most vivid and bitter recollections out of all of Isildi's memories were solely from Hee-Ryeong's time. Now that her instincts had awakened, it had becimpossible to return to simply being Yun Hee-Ryeong. And whatever memories remained of Hee-Ryeong were merely a temporary measure of control. Like the continent of Tionis' Verdandi, she had lost everything that could suppress the Princess of the Abyss's instincts.
Once the instincts completely overtook her, she would, like herself in the past, destroy everything in this world.
-Ugh?!
"Because of you, I could not keep an important promise!!"
Her rage exploded violently. A powerful storm began to swirl around her, and she eventually trampled Reaper with her dark energy sword, then started to stab it wildly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt-In the end… Betrayal…
"Shut up… Be silent!!"
-Ugh!! Ahh… You reviving your power was a great mistake by Oedon…
"Yes. It was a mistake. Waking up what should not have been woken. So die, you bastard!!"
She finally crushed the Reaper's skull cold-heartedly, and then, kneeling at the spot where his disintegrated corpse had been, she covered her face in her hands.
Why was it so agonizing? Her life as the Princess of the Abyss was long compared to the life spent here. But…
They were emotions that the Princess of the Abyss had never felt before. The millions of negative thoughts that made and formed her amalgamated and converted into the brief happiness she felt. That was why she began to subconsciously refuse to regain her memory and power. She had lived on until now. But that was also at its end. The memories that had returned were never going away again, and they would continue leading her instinct to follow the directive to destroy the world.
"You are…"
As the SuprLord slowly approached, moving unsteadily on his feet due to his injuries, Hee-Ryeong looked at him with an icy gaze.
"Leave this place."
"What did you say?"
"This land is not stable like the Heavenly Central Plains. It’s an unstable dimension created by Goddess Freyja, and so it broke down so easily against the Reaper possessing Sleesia's power."
The SuprLord and the guardians gazed at her as if they did not understand a word she was saying.
"If things continue as they are, this Spirit Realm, including the Heavenly Central Plains, will all be destroyed. So leave this place. Flee from this place to the Lower Realm that you speak of."
"It sounds like you are going to stay here."
"That's right, I am going to stay here and shatter the gateway."
Her promise to her master was broken, but she decided to remain here and destroy the passage connecting the Spirit Realm and the Lower Realm. If the connection between the two worlds was severed, the destructive aftermath of the Spirit Realm would not spread to the Heavenly Central Plains. But that also meant she would get swept away by the collapsing dimension and get lost within the crevices. And that essentially meant her sure death. No one could survive in the crevices except for the already dead Sleesia.
"Don't speak nonsense!! How can you, a mere human from the Lower Realm, possibly accomplish such an impossible task that even the SuprLord cannot?!" The guardians argued, but they ended up clamping their mouths shut when they locked eyes with Hee-Ryeong.
After all, it was just mere moments ago when they witnessed her overpower the demon that had defeated even the SuprLord.
"Are you trying to die?"
"Everything that suppressed my instincts is gone. If it continues like this…"
The SuprLord fell silent.
"So letapologize the only way I can now to my master. So all of you should leave," she firmly said as she drew her energy sword.
The crack Davey had created in the dimensional passage started to weaken and tear further under her inconceivable power.
"SuprLord! Are you really tellingto turn my back on my homeland and leave? I can't do such a thing!"
"Is there no other way?!"
"…It's all my fault, a consequence of my own actions, my karma…" The badly injured man murmured somberly. "If only the real Royal Seal had not been stolen, I might have been able to stop the collapse…"
But the seal had been devoured by the red demon, so the power to control the unraveling Spirit Realm was gone.
Confronted with the SuprLord's lament, the guardians began to cry in despair. Even the high-ranking deities who cto the scene late shed their tears and mourned for their home.
Eventually Hee-Ryeong started drawing out dark power all over her.
"How could I have overestimated my own powers and lost the seal… How will I face the honor of my ancestors after death…"
She was about to yell at the SuprLord, who was still in the middle of his woeful muttering, when the expression on her face contorted with a flicker of madness and murderous intent for a moment.
"Ugh!!"
The clash between her instincts as the Princess of the Abyss and the emotions of Hee-Ryeong began. But even if it was clear how the conflict was never going to last long, the rationality that remained of Hee-Ryeong continued to reign her in.
"Please… Just go…"
"If only the seal were here… If only we had the seal…" One guardian cried over the lost seal, his homeland on the verge of a collapse and becoming completely gone.
On the other hand, the SuprLord seemed to have sorted his thoughts and gathered his bearings, because he urgently shouted, "There's no time! Guardians, return quickly and evacuate everyone from this land!"
As the guardians tearfully moved as instructed, the bead that the SuprLord held suddenly started pouring out a tremendous light, creating strands like waves of light. And then, a young man was summoned from within it.
"What the hell? What's going on here?"
It was the laid-back voice of the young man.
The SuprLord's eyes widened upon realizing who he was. It was none other than the stranger from the Lower Realm who had returned the Royal Seal.
"You are…"
"Man, what a mess? What's up? Why is she here?"
Even if the young man was acting as if he had no understanding of the situation and was speaking breezily, the SuprLord instinctively felt that this man knew everything about the current situation. In fact, the SuprLord was right about it.
After learning about the demon from Kain, Davey immediately caught a gap leading to the Spirit Realm, widened it enough for him to pass through, and entered the Spirit Realm, only to change direction to go back to the Heavenly Central Plains before finally returning here.
"You've cafter the demon? You're too late. The demon is dead, and this land has begun to collapse. Without the real Royal Seal, which is already lost…"
Davey nonchalantly threw something to the SuprLord.
"Huh?!"
"Here, isn't this what you need? Go ahead and use it."
Shock was evident on everyone's faces. What Davey threw was none other than the Royal Seal, which the demon Reaper had supposedly devoured.
But the seal Davey had first given was a fake created by Dokgo Jun, and the real Royal Seal was hidden somewhere in the Heavenly Central Plains by Dokgo Jun. Nobody knew this, which led to the present situation.
"Demons don't just die that easily when killed. I must be stupid to have clate."
"You…"
"Forget it. Have you awakened because you could not hold back even though I had barely suppressed the awakening?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHee-Ryeong's body trembled. "Why did you chere!! It's harder to stop this situation if you're here!!"
At her thunderous shout, Davey just smiled. "What are you waiting for? Why aren't you controlling it faster?"
"This is… Isn't this the real seal?! Surely the beast must have eaten the one I had!"
"Don't doubt, just use it since it's the real thing."
It was a baffling situation. All hope was lost since the real Royal Seal, the one thing that could control the destruction, was thought to be gone, and yet… How could there be another Royal Seal?
As confusion filled the SuprLord, Davey simply shrugged.
"How can there be two seals... Where did you find this?!"
"I picked it up on the way."
"…"
"That seal seems like it’s a common item, isn't it?"
Whatever the circumstances, if there was a way to save both the Spirit Realm and the Lower Realm, that was the path he had to choose. So he grasped the real Royal Seal with a determined expression and soon disappeared into the light along with the guardians. He intended to reconnect the Royal Seal with himself to control this land.
Davey and Hee-Ryeong were then left alone after the guardians and the SuprLord disappeared.
“You cannot kill me. The only thing that could killis a dimension that collapses. You have made a mistake.” Hee-Ryeong asserted with an angry glare directed at Davey.
Indeed, killing a Princess of the Abyss of her level through normal means was near impossible unless a dimensional rift was present. If she did not resist, then, of course, a fatal blow could be delivered. But her awakened instincts would not allow such a thing to happen so easily. In other words, to kill her through normal means, she would have to be blasted into the dimensional rift using the Spirit Realm.
"Thanks for getting rid of the running demon, though don’t thank me. The long lifelines of you Abyssal creeps are well-known anyway."
"…"
"Then again, you did something forso I’ll give you something back in return." Davey grinned and flicked his finger.
Simultaneously, Hee-Ryeong's body spasmed as she desperately suppressed her instincts. Confusion was apparent on her face while a clear, abnormal phenomenon was occurring.
"Isn't it great? Your power is really something, huh?" Davey remarked, approaching Hee-Ryeong.
"When I took the water energy and qi from your body," he began to say, making Hee-Ryeong look up at him with exhaustion evident on her face. "You thought I had not done anything, didn’t you?"
Would that be the case?
Grinning, he pulled out the blue and red pills and said, “If I cast a debuff spell on you, and I still lose to you, I'd have to die by drowning in a washbasin. I will suppress your instincts. Those who do what they never did before die, or so they say."
But now, having already created an anomaly like Verdandi, what difference would it make to spare another rebellious Abyssal wanting to live a human life?
Hee-Ryeong began to breathe harshly with her eyes wide open. At the stime, her instinct—the overwhelming power of the highest Princess of the Abyss, which was as powerful as Slessia— started to erupt uncontrollably.
Davey's sword, Super Ribbon, collided with the dark energy sword created by Hee-Ryeong.
"I can't be weakened by the curse of Versha. You're going to regret this, human."
Eventually, her awakened instincts could not be held back, and Hee-Ryeong, now Isildi, cried tears of despair.
"Well, that's something you'll find out when you see it. If you're scared, you might as well die."
What she did not know was, right now, Davey's body was not only synchronized with the soul. There was more to it.
