The Saint’s Knight and Demon King [3]
Chen Liguo who had been dragged into the woods by Uriel did not know that his family’s cute sister had embarked on a dreadful road of no return.
After the head knight brought Chen Liguo into the woods he gently lowered him. He reached for Chen Liguo’s hand and used his finger to write on the palm of his hand.
Chen Liguo had originally been expecting something. As a result a basin of cold water was dumped onto his head. He felt that he really had been thinking too much.
Uriel wrote on Chen Liguo’s hand: It’s not safe in the group of knights. He suspected that there were several people who had already leaked the saint’s location after the pope had died.
Chen Liguo furrowed his brows and set up a sound-proof boundary.
Only then did Uriel open his mouth. He said, "Saint Daren, if it is possible, I hope to take you alone on another route...... Of course, that is if you trust me."
Chen Liguo was silent for a moment before he asked, "Who is the traitor?"
Uriel said, "I don’t know...... It’s just a suspicion right now." He was very sensitive to people’s emotions and noticed that some of the knight’s attitudes changed when they had learned that the pope had passed.
Chen Liguo asked, "Can I trust you?"
Uriel heard this and looked at the saint raising his chin slightly. He felt an intense emotion stir in his chest and slowly knelt on one knee in front of Chen Liguo. He used his sword to cut a line onto his palm, and after kissing the blood, recited a series of incantations for knights.
The content of the incantation was that he must be eternally loyal to the person before him. If he violated this, his heart would shatter, leading to his death.
After Uriel’s oath, Chen Liguo saw a halo float between the two. He reached out and touched the top of Uriel’s head, saying, "I believe you."
Uriel gently took Chen Liguo’s hand that was on his head and then kissed Chen Liguo’s fingertips with his bloodstained lips.
The blood quickly merged into Chen Liguo’s skin when it touched him. Chen Liguo felt a strange burning sensation on his skin. When he looked at it again, he found a small red mole on his wrist.
Uriel said, "This is the highest oath a knight can make. I hope that Saint Daren can believe me."
Chen Liguo repeated once again, "I believe you."
Uriel said, "Saint Daren, if you believe me, let us separate ourselves from them and find another route back to the imperial city, alright?"
Chen Liguo knit his brows. If he and Uriel secretly ran away, would Angel not go back to the imperial city with the traitors? Would Angel be in danger?
Uriel asked, "Saint Daren?"
Chen Liguo said, "I am worried about the sister’s safety......"
Uriel sighed slightly in his heart, thinking that the saint was truly very kind. He said, "The sister is useless to them. If the Saint Daren returns to the city safely, they will certainly protect the sister." However, if you couldn’t go back, then that might not necessarily be the case anymore.
Chen Liguo thought about it and then finally agreed to Uriel’s proposal.
After the two entered the woods they did not come out.
The people outside waited from morning till evening. If it were not for the depth of Uriel’s prestige then perhaps someone would have gone in to to check earlier.
However, when night fell, someone finally could not help asking if something had happened to the captain and suggested that everyone went in to check.
After a discussion, the knights entered the woods and were completely dumbfounded to find it empty.
"Where’s the Head Knight?" Some did not understand what had happened while others changed their expressions when they saw the scene.
Angel stared with her green eyes as if to stare her Saint Daren out from thin air.
"That Knight took Saint Daren away?" Angel’s voice was so sharp it was frightening. She said, "Where did he take the saint?"
There were no signs of struggle in this place. The two people were the head knight and saint. If someone wanted to take them away soundlessly perhaps only the Dark God of the legends could do so.
Everyone looked at each other for a moment, not sure as to what they should do.
"No matter what had happened, we should return to the imperial city first." Someone suggested, "Maybe something unexpected happened to them."
"Right, let’s report the situation to His Majesty." Most of the people agreed.
Thus, the matter was settled like this. The people decided to rush back to the imperial city and report the situation to the superiors before making a decision.
From beginning to end Angel looked like she had lost her wits. She sniffled, seeming as if she would cry at any moment.
When the other knights saw her like this, they thought she was pitiful and lovely. Just as they were going to come forward to comfort her, they heard her say softly, "I want to disappear with Saint Daren too."
Everyone: "......"
The words were as light as a feather and when Angel finished, she puffed up her cheeks like a riled up marshmallow.
But even though she was so cute, no one came forward to comfort her. They all profoundly felt that the sister before them was not to be trifled with......
It had to be said that Uriel’s premonition was seldom wrong, for only a few days after they had left the group, one of Uriel’s trusted subordinates sent him a message that they had indeed met the people coming from the direction of the imperial city——To be precise, they had met with an ambush. It was only after the group discovered that the saint was not within their ranks that they quickly withdrew. There were no casualties amongst their ranks for now.
Uriel and Chen Liguo chose another more remote path.
Chen Liguo was anxious to return to the imperial city and was reluctant to delay even a little bit——If he slowed down a little, he felt that his journey in this world would be over.
Chen Liguo asked the system how the pope died.
The system looked into the route of Chen Liguo’s actions and wasn’t sure either. "Maybe it was an accident?"
Chen Liguo said, "Let me tell you, you all are truly too unreliable."
The system said, "How are we not reliable?"
Chen Liguo said, "A BUG happened but the cause could not be found. The world’s trajectory has been distorted but the reason cannot be found."
System: "......" Although it didn’t want to admit it, Chen Liguo really was speaking the truth.
Chen Liguo said, "So you just can’t consider it?"
The system asked vigilantly, "Consider what?"
Chen Liguo coughed two times, his voice both euphemistic and gentle, "Allow this one to let loose in one world to this one’s heart’s content."
The system was silent for a moment and unexpectedly said good.
Chen Liguo was frightened by the system’s ’good’ and quickly said, "I am joking——Don’t take it to——heart!!"
The system smiled and said, "It has already been engraved in my heart."
Chen Liguo profoundly felt the maliciousness hidden in the system’s gentleness.
Everytime Chen Liguo spoke, Uriel felt that his family’s saint was pondering deeply.
But recently, the frequency of the saint’s ponderings seemed a little too high. Uriel consoled him, "Saint Daren, don’t worry. I will send you back to the imperial city safely."
Chen Liguo said lightly, "I am not worried."
Uriel nodded and looked at Chen Liguo with a warrior’s fevor.
They traveled for three days without encountering anyone to stop them which showed that their whereabouts had not been exposed and they were still safe.
However, the path that Uriel brought Chen Liguo to came to an end. It was cut off by a dense green forest.
Uriel said, "Saint Daren, after going through this forest, we will be nearing the imperial city in a few days."
Chen Liguo said, "You seem to be very familiar with the roads here."
Uriel laughed, "I’ve gone out to an expedition here before."
Chen Liguo nodded.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtUriel said, "Let us go, Saint Daren."
Chen Liguo led his horse and followed behind Uriel, stepping into the dense forest.
The trees in this dense forest were so tall that they almost blocked out all the sunshine. The air was still fresh, and the clear and melodious bird songs could be heard often.
Uriel opened up a path as he spoke, "I haven’t been here in a long time. There was a small path before, but now it’s been covered up by weeds."
Chen Liguo nodded and occasionally used his divine power to supplement Uriel’s strength.
Two people, one in the front and one in the back, coordinated with a tacit understanding and opened up a path very quickly.
At night, Uriel made a bed out of branches near a stream and covered it with thick banana leaves. He said, "Saint Daren, your body cannot be too tired. Take a rest alright? I’ll go find some food."
Chen Liguo nodded and did not try to be brave.
Uriel took his sword and disappeared into the dense forest.
Chen Liguo looked at the stream in front of him and silently waited for Uriel to return.
However, while he waited, he suddenly heard some rustling. This sound was very strange. As soon as he heard it he knew that this was not the footsteps of humans, but a demonic beast.
Chen Liguo picked up his staff and stood up vigilantly, looking in the direction of the sound.
However, just as Chen Liguo alertly looked in that direction, he felt the ground beneath his feet disappear. When he reacted, his entire person had already been hung upside down.
This sort of inferior demonic beast could conceal its breath? Chen Liguo’s entire mind found it inconceivable.
After being suspended, Chen Liguo immediately used his divine power to first protect his body and then turned it into the shape of a blade, wanting to cut the vines.
But to Chen Liguo’s surprise, the fragile vine did not move a single jot at Chen Liguo’s divine attack.
Chen Liguo was silent for two seconds and then said to the system, "Look, I resisted. Very earnestly resisted ah."
The system was even more silent than Chen Liguo. It said, "How could it be like this——"
Chen Liguo also made a show of melancholy and said, "Ai, right, how could it be like this."
System: "....." Spicy chicken, you put away the smile from the corner of your lips before talking to me thank you very much.
Chen Liguo and the system were both shocked by how this sort of situation could happen but that vine already began to secrete a sort of liquid that slowly flowed from Chen Liguo’s ankle to his calves...... thighs...... upper thigh.
Although the other vines could not get close to Chen Liguo because of his divine power, the mucus was enough to cause complications. He felt his strength fade little by little and despite his attacks, not a single bit of damage was done to the vines.
Chen Liguo felt the change in his body and a flush rose on his white cheeks. His snow-white teeth clenched on his lip tightly, almost causing it to bleed.
Just as Chen Liguo felt that he really couldn’t hold on anymore and was about to start becoming unrestrained, Uriel who had gone out hunting came back with a deer on his shoulder.
When he saw this scene. He abandoned his prey in astonishment and rushed towards Chen Liguo like a gust of wind. Then he pulled out his sword and cruelly chopped away Chen Liguo’s hope.
Chen Liguo said angrily, "Humph, at first glance this Uriel wasn’t a good person."
System: "......"
Chen Liguo said, "I don’t want to play with him wuwuwu, I hate him wuwuwu."
Uriel felt that he could never forget this scene in his life. The pure and holy saint was suspended upside down in mid air by a filthy, low-class demonic beast. His clothes were damaged and a layer of transparent liquid could be clearly seen on his body. His hair was messy and his expression was one of humiliation and anger. His blue eyes that were as clear as the sea were stained with a thin layer of moisture.
Uriel didn’t dare look any further. He drew his sword and rushed to Chen Liguo, saving him.
However, deep in his heart, there was an unspeakable disappointment. This kind of emotion was simply a great disrespect to the saint. Uriel shook his head heavily, wanting to drive this emotion out of his body.
Chen Liguo lay on the ground gasping for breath. The finger prints on his ankle had not yet disappeared. Now it was better, there was another loop.
Uriel mutely asked, "Saint Daren, are you all right?"
Chen Liguo sat in a pool of liquid, feeling like his body was extremely hot. He gritted his teeth and raised his staff with trembling hands, casting a purification spell on himself.
However, this purification spell was useless.
Chen Liguo: "It’s over it’s over. I’m going to turn into a kebab."
The system asked, "Would you like to add some chili pepper?"
Chen Liguo said, "That’s not right, this is a mountain range in the wilderness. Even if something happens between me and Uriel, nothing will happen probably."
The system smiled and said, "Correct, nothing will happen. You just won’t be able to use light magic, that’s all."
Chen Liguo: "......" Ai, spicy chicken harmony, spicy chicken system.
"Saint Daren?" Uriel gave another tentative call.
"I, I’m fine." Chen Liguo’s face was completely red. He said, "May I trouble Knight Daren to withdraw for a while. I, I want to take a bath."
Uriel’s throat moved slightly, and nodded his head slightly, then turned back into the forest.
Chen Liguo quickly took off his clothes and took a bath.
After washing off the mucus from his body, the burning sensation abated a lot.
However, Chen Liguo felt that a certain part of his body was still itching. He asked the system with tears, "Does poking one’s own chrysanthemum count as breaking the precept?"
System: "......"
Chen Liguo said, "Tell me, tell me, tell me."
The system said with difficulty, "It probably...... doesn’t count."
Only then did Chen Liguo let out a breath of relief and poked his own chrysanthemum.
The system’s head spun. It felt that it really couldn’t go on with this work.....
After Chen Liguo finished poking his chrysanthemum, he felt relaxed all over and his soul was full of joy.
Uriel didn’t want to peek at Chen Liguo taking a bath, but he couldn’t control his body and slowly, slowly crouched in the underbrush——Head Knight Daren swore that he had never been so wretched in his entire life.
Uriel watched Saint Daren wash his body little by little. And then...... he did an action he had never thought of.
Saint Daren was certainly distressed because his brows were creased the entire time. But because of the demon beast’s mucus he had no choice but to do this.
Uriel watched, and watched, and then suddenly felt his nose heat up. He wiped it and found that he actually got a nosebleed.
It really was too disgraceful Uriel thought bitterly. Why would he have this sort of blasphemous thoughts towards Saint Daren? He was the light god’s person, it was a crime if he didn’t not marry throughout his entire life. He was willing to eternally devote himself to the god of light.
The saint finished taking his bath and changed into a new robe.
The former robe was directly burned to ashes with fire——It could be seen just how angry the saint was from this.
Uriel waited a little longer before he came out of the forest. He did not ask what had happened but instead changed the topic and said, "Saint Daren, I caught a deer."
The saint did not really want to talk because of what had just happened. His eyes were still red and his lips were tightly pursed. He seemed to be in a very bad mood.
Uriel didn’t dare say anything more and obediently skinned, cleaned, and put salt and spices on the deer before baking it just like that.
Chen Liguo’s body was somewhat fatigued. He thought about it then stood up and examined the vines that had just bound him. To Chen Liguo’s surprise, this vine seemed to have turned back to normal after being cut by Uriel and only a little bit of Chen Liguo’s magic power could crush them.
Then what was that just now? Chen Liguo truly didn’t understand. His divine power that could even crush the hardest rocks couldn’t break these vines? Could it be possible that these vines really were the welfare that the system had given him?
Uriel did not dare look at Chen Liguo from beginning to end. His heart beat violently the entire time. If he looked at Chen Liguo again, he feared that his heart would pop out of his mouth.
The venison began to give off a strong aroma, Chen Liguo was hungry, so he waited beside him obediently.
Uriel cut the venison and gave the tenderest part to Chen Liguo.
Chen Liguo was not polite and little by little ate it all up.
When Uriel saw that Chen Liguo had finished eating, he said, "Saint Daren, how about you go rest, I will keep watch tonight."
Chen Liguo did not refuse. His divine power could help restore Uriel’s strength and keep him in good health, so even if Uriel didn’t sleep he would not feel too tired.
Before sleeping, Chen Liguo cast another purification spell on himself.
Uriel watched him quietly and said nothing.
Chen Liguo lay on this simple bed. He originally thought that he would be unable to fall asleep, but did not expect that his tired body would fall directly into a deep slumber once it touched the bed.
Uriel guarded Chen Liguo and stared into the fire in a daze.
Night in the forest was not peaceful.
The calls of all kinds of insects killed the ears and even the occasional roar of wild animals could be heard.
By midnight, Uriel was a little sleepy as well. He yawned and stood up, attempting to keep his wits about him. But then he heard the sleeping saint let out a soft ambiguous groan.
"Saint Daren?" Uriel was stunned and gave a tentative call.
There was no response. The saint seemed to be in a deep sleep but looked like he was trapped in some strange dream. His brows were furrowed slightly and his lips were pursed into a line.
"Don..... Don’t." It was unknown as to what the saint was dreaming about but his legs rubbed each other slowly. He struggled, wanting to wake from his dream but could not open his eyes.
Uriel had already become foolish from watching. He thought, ’Maybe Saint Daren was dreaming about the demonic beast that attacked him during the day? Such a dream, it would certainly make people’s face redden and heart jump......’
"Ah!" With a short cry, the saint’s white cheeks turned a beautiful pink and his legs rubbed even harder. Finally, he actually let out a few cries.
Uriel found that his own body actually got a reaction.
This discovery made him extremely panicky. Having such thoughts towards the saint was a great disrespect to him. If the high god found out, he would be thrown into the darkness.
Uriel didn’t watch any longer. He stepped forward and lightly shook the saint. He said, "Saint Daren, wake up. Are you having a nightmare?"
Chen Liguo’s entire person was a little delirious when he was woken up from his dream. He dazedly looked at Uriel and his first action was to grab his hand and say in a pleading tone, "No more....."
Uriel’s entire body froze.
"You, you can’t. This is against God’s will......." After he said this, Chen Liguo realized with a start that he had woken up. His face paled and he said, "Head Knight."
Uriel asked, "Did Saint have some sort of nightmare?"
After a moment of silence, Chen Liguo murmured, "No."
Where would Uriel believe this? However, he knew that the saint wasn’t willing to talk about the contents of the dream. For the saint, this sort of thing was definitely an unbearable insult.
If Chen Liguo knew what Uriel was thinking, he would probably be paralyzed like a salted fish and tell him, "Come on, insult me more, stronger! Don’t stop!"
Uriel said, "There’s still some time till daybreak, will Saint Daren sleep a bit more?"
Chen Liguo said lightly, "I can’t sleep."
Uriel sighed in his heart but did not know how he should comfort his Saint Daren.
The two men were silent and there was only the occasional crackling of the fire.
The starry sky of this world was very clear, especially on cloudless nights. When one looked up, they could even clearly see the horizon of the milky way.
Chen Liguo thought that him and Uriel just sitting here in vain wasn’t really suitable. He said, "I can’t fall asleep anymore, how about Knight Daren sleep?"
Uriel said, "Saint Daren...... My name is Uriel. If you don’t mind, you can call me by name."
Chen Liguo was silent for a moment but nevertheless called, "Uriel."
Uriel’s heart tightened and he replied, "Saint Daren."
"My name is Michael." Chen Liguo smiled gently and said, "Privately, you can call me by this as well."
Uriel’s mind was completely filled with the saint’s faint smile. He swallowed his saliva and finally, called out with the voice of a mosquito, "Michael."
Chen Liguo said, "Since we are friends, you can sleep at ease. I will keep watch."
Uriel did not refuse again this time. His head was in disarray as he secretly ruminated over that name in his heart...... Michael, this name was really nice to hear.
Uriel fell asleep chaotically and only woke up to the bird songs at dawn the next day.
Chen Liguo went to pick some fruits for breakfast and after they had eaten, the two set out again.
At this time the pope had been assassinated within the imperial city and the saint was absent. Powers in all directions began to stir.
Although it was said that in the history of the Church of Light the saint would inherit the position of Pope, they were not in an era of war right now, so such strong light power was useless. As long as it could purify the epidemic, it didn’t matter if the saint’s power fell short a little——That was the opinion of those who wanted to seize power. It had to be said that it was truly very naive.
In actuality, the Pope had previously said that every selection of the saint was not carried out by the Pope, but the God of Light.
Naturally, this sort of saying wasn’t believed by many people. But as the saint, Chen Liguo knew that this was true.
There really were miracles and there really were gods. When one’s divine power reached a certain extent, they could even speak with God.
For the Church, the worst scenario would be the Pope dying in an accident before bringing up a Saint.
For the rest of the journey it could be distinctly felt that the checkpoints were much more rigorous.
Fortunately, Uriel was very experienced in these things and even knew secret paths in most of the cities.
Chen Liguo truly did admire him quite a bit.
Since Uriel had decided to go alone with Chen Liguo, he already had a general plan in his mind.
He was confident that he could take the saint back to the imperial city.
Compared to the lightness on Chen Liguo’s side, the original team had it much worse.
According to the news sent from them, they had suffered from several waves of attacks and some knights had been injured as a result.
Chen Liguo couldn’t resist and asked how Angel was.
Uriel said, "Angel is fine, be at ease. The knights will protect girls very well, especially sisters."
Only then did Chen Liguo let out a sigh of relief.
The two hurried to the imperial city. However, when they were a day away, someone could not sit still any longer——A cardinal of the Church had imprisoned the other bishops and forced them to conduct the coronation of the pope.
This news spread very quickly. When Chen Liguo and Uriel heard it they breathed in a breath of cold air.
Uriel said angrily, "How dare he?" In this world where the church and state were separate, the emperor could not regulate the affairs of the Church. So long as the people were not tormented, the king could not meddle in how they chose the pope.
That bishop also used this gap.
Chen Liguo’s expression had originally been tense, now it was even tenser.
Uriel said, "Saint Daren, we will reach the imperial city tomorrow morning, just in time for their coronation!"
Chen Liguo said coldly, "These blasphemous people will eventually be punished."
Uriel nodded.
Neither of them rested this night as they rushed to the imperial city.
At this time, the imperial city was heavily guarded, as they were afraid that Chen Liguo, the saint, would suddenly come back and disturb the ceremony.
Uriel checked several entrances and found that even the underpass was heavily guarded. His expression was somewhat ugly. "This bishop is actually colluding with the army."
Chen Liguo said, "There’s no way in?"
Uriel’s expression was ugly as he said, "We can try...... to mix in with the people and enter through the gate."
Chen Liguo was silent for a moment before he said, "I have a method."
Uriel wanted to ask Chen Liguo what his method was when he saw Chen Liguo raise his hand and cast a spell on them. Then they became two little children.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmUriel: "......"
Chen Liguo said, "You are called Aisa, I am called Aiur. You are my younger brother."
Uriel had not yet managed to react.
Chen Liguo said, "We live in the city." It was true that there were two children in the city named Aisa and Aiur. These two children were famous twins and almost everyone in the city knew about them.
Chen Liguo said, "Let’s go."
Uriel’s hand was grabbed by Chen Liguo and was led to the city. They were about to enter the city gate but he still hadn’t reacted yet.
"Uncle, how come there are so many people here?" Chen Liguo asked the guard mildly.
That guard also knew Aisa and said, "Why are you running around? Be careful lest your mother spanks you."
Chen Liguo said, "Don’t tell mother. I sneaked out......"
That guard laughed, "Okay okay okay, hurry and go in, we’ll be locking the door in a minute."
The imperial city was not big and the folks were very simple and honest. The guards only knew that today was the Pope’s coronation ceremony——As for the fact that the object of the coronation wasn’t the saint, they were still kept in the dark.
Chen Liguo smoothly entered the city and released Uriel, saying, "Alright, we’re in."
Uriel said, "Saint Daren, you, why can you do this magic?" Wasn’t it said that the Church only studied light magic?
Chen Liguo glanced at him and said lightly, "Having skills doesn’t weigh you down."
At this time the city people were gathered in the square, waiting for the appearance of the saint.
Chen Liguo returned to the appearance of an adult, then put on a black cloak and mixed into the crowd with Uriel
It was now noon and the sun was dazzling. It was also the time where divine power was the strongest.
A carriage stopped near the square and a man dressed in the pop’s attire came out from it——But it could be seen at first glance that they were not the saint.
All the people were in an uproar, like a pot of boiling water.
The bishop paid no mind. He walked a few steps to the altar in the middle of the square, held his staff and began to recite a few incantations.
Before him was another staff. This was the Pope’s supreme scepter. This scepter had a characteristic. False popes could not touch it. Only after receiving God’s recognition could one lift the scepter.
Chen Liguo did not panic and just looked on silently.
On the contrary, it was Uriel who was anxious. He said, "Saint Daren, this man wants to blaspheme God, are you not going to stop him?"
Chen Liguo said coldly, "Wanting to receive God’s favor by relying on himself, he’s just dreaming."
As the two men spoke, the bishop’s incantation was continuously chanted and a holy light fell from heaven and enveloped the bishop.
The bishop was overjoyed. He read the incantation faster and the light grew stronger.
Uriel held the sword in his hand, seeming like he wanted to rush up and fight with his life but he was stopped by Chen Liguo.
Uriel was puzzled, "Saint Daren?"
Chen Liguo, however, said, "The consequences of blaspheming God is very serious."
Uriel did not understand what Chen Liguo meant at first. He thought that God had already brought down divine light, did this not mean that God had been deceived?
Just as Uriel feared, the light grew more and more brilliant and the bishop’s face had the mad smile of having his desire almost fulfilled. He said, "Lord high above, I am your faithful follower. I am willing to consecrate everything to you, please grant me the glory of light."
This was the last line of the Pope’s coronation ceremony.
Just as Uriel was no longer able to resist from going forward, the light before him suddenly shone brighter and he could not help but close his eyes. Then, he heard a bang——As if something had broken.
When Uriel opened his eyes again, he was shocked by everything before his eyes.
All that remained on the altar was a lone scepter and a pool of bright red blood.
That cardinal had directly exploded. Not even the bones remained.
Chen Liguo laughed sarcastically and said, "Foolish."
Uriel asked, "Wh...... What is going on?"
Chen Liguo said indifferently, "Guess, why must the saint be chosen by the pope?"
Uriel shook his head.
Chen Liguo said, "Because the saint is chosen by God and the one whom God is pleased with, only the Pope knows."
Uriel’s breath froze. He asked, "Saint Daren has always known?"
Chen Liguo nodded and said, "I thought that they had thought of some way to deceive God but didn’t think that they were so foolish."
However, just as the two spoke, a beam of light came directly from the sky onto Chen Liguo who was in the crowd.
When others were illuminated by this light they felt an unbearable pain on their skin and stepped aside on reflex. Only Chen Liguo felt a sort of warm feeling.
Chen Liguo did not recite the Pope’s coronation oath but God discovered him from within the crowd.
The people around him recognized that this was Saint Daren and were all excited as they began to kneel down to Chen Liguo.
Chen Liguo said lightly, "I have returned."
They were just three short words but caused the people to cheer.
Chen Liguo’s voice was supported by the holy light and seemed incomparably pure and holy. He said, "The blasphemer has died. God choosing me is choosing you."
The people kowtowed.
The scepter that had originally been placed on the altar slowly flew to Chen Liguo’s hand. He kissed it and said, "I am willing to be loyal to God forever, to be God’s apostle on earth, to protect our territory, to end the darkness and spread the light."
The pillar of light became more and more bright, but it was different from the hard dazzle of the bishop’s. This radiance was very gentle, like the moonlight in a cold night that calmed the people’s mood——That was the thought of the people in the surroundings.
However, Chen Liguo found that something wasn’t right.
He found that inside this light, there was actually an air of darkness.
Chen Liguo thought that it was his own misconception but when he lifted his scepter and began to say his oath, he felt something cold drilling into the leg of his trousers.
Chen Liguo had a layer of goosebumps. He said, "System, this God is not right!!"
The system said, "How is it not right?"
Chen Liguo’s face was ghastly pale. "He wants to do me!!"
System: "......"
Chen Liguo: "Just what is wrong with this world?!!"
System: "I’ll go check......"
Chen Liguo said, "Am I that sort of person who likes to be done in front of a thousand people?"
System: "......"
Chen Liguo did not wait for the system to respond and said, "How is a thousand enough? There must be ten thousand!"
System: "......" Very good, Chen Liguo you are courting disaster you know?
