“No need for sophistry,” Shirley said, her expression steely. “We want the truth.”

They had weathered many a storm, and even though they suspected their eldest son and daughter-in-law could be the

masterminds behind it all, they managed not to lose their composure.

A simmering rage was on the brink of bursting into flames, just waiting for a gust of wind to fan it into an inferno.

Tomas and Donna remained silent, and Louisa couldn’t help but ask, “Tomas, Donna, did you really do this? Our families have been

close for generations. | can honestly say I've never done anything to harm you. Why would you do this to us, not even sparing a

newborn?”

“It had nothing to do with Aunt Beverly,” Arabella replied.

She knew her aunt and uncle had kept silent about the true culprit because they had been threatened with the lives of Frederica
