Chapter 1488 In-Game Status
Cindy turned to look at Naomi. “I’m beginning to suspect that you’re just exaggerating, and I have the proof to
show for it.”
Naomi snickered before suddenly changing the topic. “Hey, you didn’t call Ian the whole afternoon. He shouldn’t be
busy now, right? Shouldn’t you give him a call then?”
Cindy smacked her lips together. “You didn’t even mention him this afternoon. It’s just us two for the day. Can we
not talk about anyone else while it’s just us, my dear?”
Naomi let out a giggle. “What’s with all the secretiveness? Weren’t you doing perfectly fine during that phone call
earlier? You even offered to help me get an autographed photo. Don’t tell me that you were just talking yourself up
but decided to chicken out once I actually showed up.”
Cindy withdrew her gaze, her eyes once again landing on her phone’s screen. Ian’s account was still shown as
‘online’ in-game, but he hadn’t started his round yet.

“What do you mean by that?” Naomi asked. “I was thinking of inviting you two out for dinner too. What’s wrong?
Can’t bear to bring your Ian out to meet me?”
Cindy laughed. “Hurry up and start the game already.”
Naomi eyed Cindy quietly for a while before continuing to play with her, still in the same party.
They played a few rounds more. Each time their round ended, Cindy would look at her friends list.
Ian still stayed online, but he never started a round during that time.
Cindy didn’t quite understand why Ian was doing this. There were a few times when she thought of inviting him into
her party. After mulling it over, however, she abandoned that notion.
Perhaps Ian doesn’t feel like playing.
Meanwhile, Cindy and Naomi kept losing. At last, Naomi ran out of steam. “I’m going to stop. If I keep playing, I will
get an aneurysm.”
Cindy didn’t want to continue playing either because she kept wanting to look at Ian’s status.
Ian’s status never once changed, and it perplexed her.
In fact, it left her agitated.
Cindy put her phone down as well. “It’s getting late, so we should wash up and go to sleep. You still have work
tomorrow, don’t you?”
“Yeah, another working day tomorrow.” Naomi got off the bed and headed for the bathroom after she picked up
her pajamas. “My job’s nothing compared to yours, though. Ah, I’m so envious.”
Cindy didn’t speak. Once Naomi had entered the bathroom, she changed her clothes as well. After some thought,
she took out her phone again.
Ian’s in-game status still showed that he was online.
Cindy then exited the game and opened Facebook to scroll through her feed. She didn’t have many friends on
Facebook, so she managed to finish seeing everyone’s statuses with just a few swipes.
Cindy mulled it over for a bit before deciding to take a selfie. However, she only took a picture of her face from the
side, and she captioned it with the word ‘Goodnight’.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIn truth, even she herself couldn’t tell who she wanted to see her status. She just couldn’t stop herself, for she
really wanted to cause a ripple or two.
After she posted that selfie, she switched off her phone. As Cindy lay on her bed, she kept thinking things over.
Nothing upsetting had actually happened between her and Ian, but why were they being so awkward now?
Meanwhile, Ian had tossed his phone aside to watch television. He knew that Cindy was online in the game, and he
also knew that she had played a few rounds. Initially, he wanted to play a round or two to keep the boredom away,
but that mood disappeared the moment he saw that Cindy was online.
Ian watched a variety show. The atmosphere seemed lively with all the laughing and guffawing going on, but he
couldn’t manage a smile. In other words, he couldn’t process any of the happenings on-screen. It was as though
something had gotten stuck in his heart, making him feel uncomfortable from all the space it took up.
When the variety show ended, Ian stood up. After thinking about it for a bit, he turned and walked into the kitchen.
He hadn’t eaten since afternoon, so he was naturally famished.
There were still some leftovers from last night. Ian dumped the food into the bin and loaded the dishwasher with
the plates. He then rifled through the refrigerator. It was stocked to the brim, and it even had frozen food in it.
Cindy would always keep the refrigerator well-stocked, and not once did she leave it empty.
Ian took out a packet of dumplings and boiled some water to cook them.
He still knew how to do things like this; it was just that he hadn’t done it in a long time.
