Chapter 1651 A Gift
“Yeah,” Aurora answered nonchalantly. “I think so. I heard them talking about it.”
Ian opened the door and saw his mother standing right outside. Cindy was at the dining table, and Ian saw her
talking on the phone. She was smiling, but Ian didn’t throw a tantrum over it. “Who is it?” She knows nobody here.
Who on earth would ask her out?
Aurora whispered, “Probably the boy from yesterday. Judging from the conversation, I think he’s asking her out.”
Ian squinted at Cindy, but he said nothing. He then went to the bathroom and washed his face. When he came
back, Cindy had already ended her call, but she looked like she was going out. Ian asked before Aurora could,
“What is it? Something’s up?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCindy went to the porch to put on her shoes without even looking at Ian. “No. I’m just going downstairs to take
something.” She didn’t elaborate further. After she put on her shoes, she left.
Ian stood there for a few moments, then he turned around. “Why is she going down?”
Aurora shrugged. “Beats me.” She went to the dining table. “But I bet it’s nothing. Don’t look so sour. Nobody’s
going to take her away, so relax. He’s just a friend, and probably a good one at that. That’s why she went down.
Don’t think too much about it and come have lunch.”
A good friend? Ian almost burst out laughing. She has only been here for a day. There’s no way she’s making
friends that quickly.
Aurora didn’t care. She filled her bowl with rice and sat down to have lunch.
Ian went over in a moment. He sat down and picked his spoon up, but he lost what little appetite he had after what
happened earlier.
Cindy had gone to see the guy she played badminton with the night before. He was here to give her a racket that
he bought. Cindy felt embarrassed about taking it, since their only interaction was a badminton game. It’d be rude
to take a gift from him just like that.
The guy didn’t mind though. He said he was in the sports club, and everyone there the night before were their
members. If it was fine with Cindy, he wanted her to join the club.
Cindy waved it off. “I have to work soon, so I won’t have much time.”
The guy smiled. “It’s fine. Just come over when you’re free. We don’t usually get all the members together either.
Everyone has their lives to worry about, but we gather whenever we have time.”
Cindy didn’t want to refuse him since he had come all the way to give her a racket. To get out of this situation, she

The guy smiled. “It doesn’t cost much. You don’t have to pay me, you know.”
Cindy felt even more embarrassed then. “I’ll treat you guys to something good when we meet up next time then.”
The guy nodded. “Sure. See you next time.”
Cindy didn’t talk much with the guy. He had something else to do, so he said goodbye and left.
She went back upstairs with the racket in hand. When she came in, Ian and Aurora looked at her at the same time.
Or to be more specific, they looked at what she was holding.
Aurora smiled. “Ooh, a gift. It’s good being pretty.”
Cindy put the racket on the shoe rack. “He’s from the sports club. He wanted me to join them, so he gave me this.”
Ian stared intently at the badminton racket that was on the shoe rack.
Aurora teased her. “Why didn’t he give me one then? I played with them too.”
That effectively shut down the conversation, since Cindy couldn’t find a good explanation.
Ian looked away coolly and went back to his lunch.
