Chapter 1768 Ian’s Refusal
Ian was asking about her family matters, and he was hinting at a visit sooner or later.
Cindy didn’t want to talk about her family, but since Ian had asked, she didn’t think it’d be great to hide it, so she
said, “I have my mom and brother at home. My brother’s still in school, and he needs me to pay for it, but he
should be done in a couple of years or so.”
Ian was surprised she didn’t bring her father up, but he could guess why, so he kept quiet about it.
After a short moment of silence, she smiled. “Let’s not talk about this. I don’t really want to talk about my family.
It’s not something great, really. I don’t like to talk about it.”
I guess everyone has their own battles, huh? Ian could understand her, and he grunted. “I won’t bring it up again.

Sean called Ian the next morning, telling him that Bryce was not looking good. He also asked if Ian wanted to come
to the hospital. Bryce was feeling unwell because of what happened the day before. Ian saw no point in going, since
it would be a quiet visit, and he wouldn’t even be cheering Bryce up, making it even more pointless. Ian said he
didn’t want to go, and he asked Sean if Bryce was fine.
Sean sighed. “He would have been, but what happened yesterday got on his nerves, and he’s furious. Now, he’s
looking off.”
Ian paused for a moment. “It’s been years. He should know the kind of people they are by this point, so why did he
even get angry?”
Sean shrugged. “That’s what I told him, but it was useless. The thing has gotten out of hand, and now everyone
knows. He’s embarrassed about it.”
Ian felt like laughing. Bryce used to break a lot of traditions and law when he was younger, and most of them were
far more egregious than what Leah did. He didn’t care about his reputation back then, but now he thinks he can
salvage it? Too late. I guess that’s just how humans are. They keep excusing their own wrongdoings, but they will
punish everyone else for doing the same things they did. In some ways, Bryce and Leah made a great couple.
Sean didn’t force Ian to come, but before he hung up, Ian asked, “I heard he talked to his lawyer again yesterday.”
Sean told him honestly, “Yes, but not about the will. It’s about the divorce this time.”
Ian chuckled this time, for he couldn’t hold it back. “Wow, he really is angry.” Not that he can save his reputation
through a divorce at this point. There’s no way a plot twist can pop up this late in the game.
“That is true,” Sean answered. “Their relationship has been rocky for a while now, but they remained married so

they wouldn’t have to deal with the fallout. Now that this mess has happened, Bryce started thinking about divorce
again.”
Ian clicked his tongue. “I don’t think a divorce can help him at this point, so why is he doing that?”
Sean wasn’t interested in playing counselor for his father. Bryce could marry and divorce as much as he liked, and
Sean wouldn’t even care. He never did interfere with his father’s business, nor was he planning to start anytime
soon. It’s his life. He can do whatever he wants with it. The past was in the past, and Sean had let his old grudges
go, but he wouldn’t help Bryce. His life was his own and nobody else’s.
Sean hung up a short while later. Ian put his phone down, stretched his arm, and went to the balcony. His curiosity
was piqued, and he looked down, but there wasn’t anyone there.
What was I thinking anyway? She didn’t get anything she wanted yesterday. There’s no reason for her to come and
humiliate herself again today. Sally might have been spoiled by her mother, but she was smarter than her brother,
and she knew when to cut her losses.
