Sally had received news about Bryce too. She heard that he was in bad condition and had been sent into the
emergency room the night before. If anyone asked whether she felt sorry for Bryce, she couldn’t say that she felt
anything much for him. The only thing she felt for Bryce was a sense of respect—Bryce had always been the one to
make decisions in their family. Leah would often take a step back when Bryce insisted on his opinions, and Sally
gradually developed a sense of respect for Bryce when she saw the way her mother treated him.
But that didn’t mean that she felt any concern for the man. Bryce had been especially cruel toward Ian, but he
hadn’t paid much care to Sally and Simon either. Sally merely felt like it was a shame for Bryce to be in such a state
—he was a wealthy man who couldn’t seem to save his life despite all the money he had. What was the point of all
that money, then?
Sally and Simon had shown up to take a look at Bryce before they attempted to get Leah out of the basement. After
years of parenting, it was clear that Bryce’s skills were nowhere near Leah’s when it came to caring for children.
Leah might not be that great of an individual, but she was an undeniably wonderful mother who had given her all to
her children.
Even her recent actions—starting arguments with Bryce, fighting for the money in his possession—were done for
the sake of her children, Sally and Simon. Since Bryce’s life was nearing its end, Sally and Simon wanted to resolve
this matter before Bryce passed away.
Sally looked away before she strode toward the entrance, keeping a distance from Ian. Ever since she had begged
Ian for help and had been rejected by him, she no longer wanted to have anything to do with him. It wasn’t just Ian
—she didn’t want to interact with Sean either.
Throughout the years, Sally and Simon were on relatively good terms with Sean. Sally may have the guts to abuse
her power while she was with Ian, but she didn’t dare to do the same with Sean. Even Leah had to show Sean some
respect—no one in the family dared to go against him. Sally had never thought that their family would be indebted
to Sean, but her opinions changed after she, Leah, and Simon visited the company to discuss with Sean about the
will.
Sean was beyond evil and harsh when he spoke to them back then. It was then that Sally knew Sean hated them all
along. It makes sense, really. Sally decided that Sean’s feelings were valid after she thought about it a while more.
It’s true that Mom used some manipulative tactics on the entire family, and I bet Sean was already aware of the

Throughout her years of being in the Morgan Family, Leah had always avoided Sean. She would often take a step
back before a conflict happened, but there were still unavoidable situations in which she would try to portray
herself as the woman of the family. She wanted to replace Sean’s mother’s position in the house—she wanted to be
the person others thought of when others thought of the term ‘Mrs. Morgan’. If Sally and Simon could recognize the
greed in their mother’s eyes, Sally was sure that Sean had noticed it as well. That gave Sean the reason to hate
Leah.
However, Sally was no longer interested in digging deep into such matters. They were already at this point, so there
was no use in looking back into the past. Her main focus then was to resolve the issue that was right before her
eyes. Soon enough, Simon came out of the wards. He hadn’t noticed Ian at all, so he took large strides directly in
Sally’s direction.
Sally hurried over anxiously. “How was it? How’s the situation up there?”
Simon shook his head. “He’s not awake. I took a look at him just now—he doesn’t seem too well.”
Sally was rather shocked to hear this. “How did he end up like this? Wasn’t he doing fine a while ago?”
“I asked the nurses about it. They said that his condition started to deteriorate after we went to start a fight. They
said that he would sigh really loudly in the middle of the night when he couldn’t fall asleep.” Simon spoke in a rather
uncertain tone. “He was probably outraged. Dad’s heart has always been weak, and he used to tell us about his
chest pains. Perhaps his heart issues were triggered this time around.”
