Chapter 1947 Serena’s Comment
All Ian needed was for Yulia not to cause any trouble. That way, he’d be able to enjoy his days with Cindy. Cindy had
started cooking again, and he could hear the clanging of the pan from the kitchen. He narrowed his eyes as he

All Ian needed was for Yulia not to cause any trouble. That way, he’d be able to enjoy his days with Cindy. Cindy had
started cooking again, and he could hear the clanging of the pan from the kitchen. He narrowed his eyes as he
glanced in that direction.
Things with Yulia are pretty much settled. My days with Cindy will be stable as long as Gary doesn’t try anything
from now on, Ian thought.
The next day, Cindy arrived at work to find her colleagues eyeing her with the same odd look on their faces. They
were talking behind her back, but they didn’t look like they were trying to hide anything. Cindy felt as if she was
being boycotted by her classmates at school. They didn’t make any explicit claims, yet they had their ways to make

She let out a sigh. She couldn’t do anything but to return to her seat and look at the design draft that she had made
the day before. After changing some details and looking at it for a while more, she stood up and walked to Serena’s
office. Serena had yet to reach the office, so Cindy left her draft on Serena’s table. As she walked out of Serena’s
office, she bumped into the lady from the HR department.
The lady was especially friendly toward Cindy. She greeted Cindy and asked Cindy about her first day at work. “Did
you encounter any issues?” the lady asked.
Before this, Cindy would’ve assumed that the lady was just a nice person. However, Cindy felt somewhat
uncomfortable with the lady’s kindness now that she knew she had some connections that got her into the
company. “I’m fine,” Cindy mumbled. She couldn’t bring herself to say anything else.
Cindy was stuck in a rather awkward situation. She had never hoped for her relationship with her colleagues to be
great. She knew herself, and she wasn’t someone who could easily warm up to strangers. However, she felt rather
uneasy now that she was being ostracized by her colleagues. No one in their right mind would like working in an
environment like that.
The lady from the HR department didn’t seem to notice the complicated look in Cindy’s eyes. “Just let me know if
you’re facing any issues. I’ll try my best to help out,” the lady offered. Cindy hastily thanked her.
“It’s my job. Don’t worry about it,” the lady replied with a smile.
After they split ways, Cindy passed by the entrance of the office. The moment she turned around, she saw her
colleagues staring at her. It seems like these people saw me talking to the lady from the HR department. Cindy
returned to her seat with a blank expression on her face. Cindy had just sat down when the lady who initiated a
conversation with her the day before rolled her chair over to Cindy once more. “Do you know Mary from the HR
department?” she asked softly.

The lady nodded. “Mary has a pretty bad temper. She’s arrogant toward the rest of the staff, but I saw her being
really nice to you.” Her words seemed to be implying something. She seemed like she was trying to get Cindy to say
something.
“I guess. I haven’t interacted with her that much, but I thought she was fine during the interview,” Cindy uttered
after thinking for a moment.
The lady gave Cindy a fake smile before rolling her chair back to her own seat.
Cindy wasn’t afraid of others questioning her since everything that she said was the truth. Although she got in
through connections, it was the truth that she didn’t know anyone in the company.
Cindy didn’t have any design-related tasks, so she picked another topic from the folder that Serena had given her
the day before. She thought she would come up with another draft. However, she had only sketched her idea when
Serena came looking for her.
Once again, Serena ordered Cindy to go to her office. When Cindy entered the room, she pulled Cindy’s draft out.
“It’s obvious that you’ve stopped designing for a long time.”
One sentence from Serena was sufficient to convey her message—Cindy immediately knew that her draft was full
of issues.
